Active organic optical waveguide materials (OOWMs) incorporating room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) hold significant promise for diverse applications in photonic and optoelectronic *** this potential,realizing active RTP optical waveguides with large-sized ordered structures and minimal light loss remains a formidable *** address this issue,we present a groundbreaking thermoplastic active OOWM with low light loss,leveraging room temperature phosphorescent liquid crystalline polymer (LCP).This innovative material can be easily synthesized through the copolymerization of phosphorescent and liquid crystalline *** resulting RTP copolymer exhibits a nematic liquid crystal phase with a phosphorescence lifetime of approximately 0.15 ms and an afterglow duration of around 1 *** the excellent processability of LCP,we successfully produce meter-scale fibers via melt *** RTP LCP fibers,characterized by a high orientation of mesogens along the fiber axis,demonstrate superior light confinement and efficient light conduction compared to unoriented samples,resulting in a low optical loss coefficient of 0.13 dB/***,the thermal responsiveness of the RTP LCP optical waveguide enables its use as a photo *** pioneering work paves the way for the design of new OOWMs tailored for advanced photonics and optoelectronics devices.

再生聚酯在纺纱时需加入纺丝油剂,油剂会影响后续染色过程。为减少油剂对后续染色过程的影响,采用超临界CO_(2)流体萃取法,研究了再生聚酯纱线在超临界体系下的除油效果,选取除油温度、压力、时间、CO_(2)流量作为研究因素,利用响应面法对工艺条件进行优化,采用扫描电镜和红外光谱分析进一步对除油后纱线性能进行探究。结果表明:最佳工艺条件为除油温度64℃,除油压力21 MPa,除油时间60 min,CO_(2)流量415 kg/h,在此条件下再生聚酯纱的除油率可达到78%,超临界CO_(2)除油后的纱线表面油剂有一定减少,纱线物理结构未受到影响。

The contact of a rigid body with nominally flat rough surface and an elastic half-space is *** solve the contact problem,the greenwood-Williamson statistical model and the localization principle are *** developed contact model allows us to investigate the surface approach and the real contact area with taking into account the asperities *** is shown that the mutual influence of asperities changes not only contact characteristics at the macroscale,but also the contact pressure distribution at the *** follows from the results,the inclusion in the contact model of the effect of the mutual influence of asperities is especially significant for studying the real contact area,as well as the contact characteristics at high applied *** results calculated according to the proposed approach are in a good agreement with the experimentally observed effects,i.e.,the real contact area saturation and the additional compliance exhaustion.

Nuclear power plants exhibit non-linear and time-variable ***,designing a control system that sets the reactor power and forces it to follow the desired load is complicated.A supercritical water reactor(SCWR)is a fourth-generation conceptual *** an SCWR,the non-linear dynamics of the reactor require a controller capable of control-ling the *** this study,a pressure-tube-type SCWR was controlled during reactor power maneuvering with a higher order sliding mode,and the reactor outgoing steam temperature and pressure were controlled *** an SCWR,the temperature,pressure,and power must be maintained at a setpoint(desired value)during power *** point kinetics equations with three groups of delayed neutrons were used in the ***-order and classic sliding mode controllers were separately manufactured to control the plant and were compared with the PI controllers speci-fied in previous *** controlled parameters were reactor power,steam temperature,and ***,for these parameters,the PI controller had certain instabilities in the presence of *** classic sliding mode controller had a higher accuracy and stability;however its main drawback was the chattering *** was highly accurate and stable and had a small computational *** reality,it followed the desired values without oscillations and chattering.

Deformation control constitutes one of the main technological challenges in three dimensional(3D)concrete printing,and it presents a challenge that must be addressed to achieve a precise and reliable construction ***-based information of the expected deformations and stresses is required to optimize the construction process in association with the specific properties of the concrete *** this work,a novel thermodynamically consistent finite strain constitutive model for fresh and early-age 3D-printable concrete is *** model is then used to simulate the 3D concrete printing process to assess layer shapes,deformations,forces acting on substrate layers and prognoses of possible structural collapse during the layer-by-layer *** constitutive formulation is based on a multiplicative split of the deformation gradient into elastic,aging and viscoplastic parts,in combination with a hyperelastic potential and considering evolving material properties to account for structural buildup or *** advantage of this model is the stress-update-scheme,which is similar to that of small strain plasticity and therefore enables an efficient integration with existing material *** constitutive model uses the particle finite element method,which serves as the simulation framework,allowing for modeling of the evolving free surfaces during the extrusion *** analyses of three printed layers are used to create deformation plots,which can then be used to control the deformations during 3D concrete *** study offers further investigations,on the structural level,focusing on the potential structural collapse of a 3D printed concrete *** capability of the proposed model to simulate 3D concrete printing processes across the scales—from a few printed layers to the scale of the whole printed structure—in a unified fashion with one constitutive formulation,is demonstrated.

太平洋战争爆发后,部分港大学生(侨生)内撤中国大后方。英国由救济这批港大学生开始,试图扩大救济中国境内所有英属地侨生,却遭到国民政府反对。英国从帝国视野出发,希望维持其对大英帝国臣民的管辖权;中国则坚持侨生为中国国民,理应由中国政府予以救济。中英围绕侨生救济权的争夺主要发生在1943年。这一过程既折射中英新约签署前后治外法权问题在实践层面的新变化,也体现国民政府欲借侨民救济彰显中国主权和大国地位。由此侨民问题将抗战与反帝反殖联系在一起。侨生争取中英两国救济的能动性,展现他们作为侨民、难民和学生的跨域经历,勾连二战中港大与大后方一段共同历史,也启发我们从侨民维度重新思考百年来中英不平等关系。

I reminisce on my early life in Section 1;on my education in Sections 2 and 3;on the years at Princeton as a research astronomer in Section 4;on the years on the faculty at Chicago in Section 5;on research on Diffuse Interstellar Bands(DIBs) in Section 6;on construction of the 3.5 m telescope at Apache Point Observatory(APO)in Section 7;on work on the Sloan Digital Sky Survey(SDSS) in Section 8;on work in public education in Chicago in Section 9;and on my travels in Section 10. My main science research is of an observational nature,concerning galactic and intergalactic interstellar gas. Highlights for me included my work on the orbiting telescope Copernicus, including the discovery of interstellar deuterium;early observations of absorption associated with fivetimes ionized oxygen;and discoveries concerning the phases of gas in the local interstellar medium, based on previously unobservable interstellar UV spectral lines. With other instruments and collaborations, I extended interstellar UV studies to the intergalactic cool gas using quasi-stellar object QSO absorption lines redshifted to the optical part of the spectrum;provided a better definition of the emission and morphological character of the source of absorption lines in QSO spectra;and pursued the identification of the unidentified DIBs. For several of these topics, extensive collaborations with many scientists were essential over many years. The conclusions developed slowly, as I moved from being a graduate student at Chicago, to a research scientist position at Princeton and then to a faculty position at Chicago. At each stage of life, I was exposed to new technologies adaptable to my science and to subsequent projects. From high school days, I encountered several management opportunities which were formative. I have been extremely fortunate both in scientific mentors I had and in experimental opportunities I encountered.
