BAcKgROUND Several studies of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage(SIcH)patients have shown apoptotic changes in brain samples after hematoma ***,there have been no data on the association between blood concentrations of soluble fas(sFas)(the main surface death receptor of the extrinsic apoptosis pathway)and the prognosis of spontaneous intracranial hypotension(SIH)*** To determine whether there is an association between blood sFas concentrations and SIcH patient *** We included patients with severe and supratentorial *** was defined as having glasgow coma Scaleconcentrations at the time of severe SIcH *** We found that non-surviving patients(n=36)compared to surviving patients(n=39)had higher IcH score(P=0.001),higher midline shift(P=0.004),higher serum sFas concentrations(Pcuation(P=0.04).Multiple logistic regression analysis showed an association between serum sFas concentrations and 30-d mortality(odds ratio=1.070;95%confidence interval=1.014-1.129;P=0.01)controlling for IcH score,midline shift,and early hematoma *** The association of blood sFas concentrations and SIcH patient mortality is a novel finding in our study.

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory condition that often causes serious damage to tooth-supporting *** limited successful outcomes of clinically available approaches underscore the need for therapeutics that cannot only provide structural guidance to cells but can also modulate the local immune ***,three-dimensional melt electrowritten(i.e.,poly(ε-caprolactone))scaffolds with tissue-specific attributes were engineered to guide differentiation of human-derived periodontal ligament stem cells(hPDLScs)and mediate macrophage *** investigated tissue-specific scaffold attributes comprised fiber morphology(aligned ***)and highly-ordered architectures with distinct strand spacings(small 250μm and large 500μm).Macrophages exhibited an elongated morphology in aligned and highly-ordered scaffolds,while maintaining their round-shape on randomly-oriented fibrous *** of periostin and IL-10 were more pronounced on the aligned and highly-ordered *** hPDLScs on the scaffolds with 500μm strand spacing show higher expression of osteogenic marker(Runx2)over 21 days,cells on randomly-oriented fibrous scaffolds showed upregulation of M1 *** an orthotopic mandibular fenestration defect model,findings revealed that the tissue-specific scaffolds(i.e.,aligned fibers for periodontal ligament and highly-ordered 500μm strand spacing fluorinated calcium phosphate[F/caP]-coated fibers for bone)could enhance the mimicking of regeneration of natural periodontal tissues.

The differential diagnosis for pediatric patients with apparent transient loss of consciousness(TLOc)is a frequent *** TLOc refers to a state of unawareness of a short duration(usually less than 5 min)that terminates spontaneously,during which the patient is unresponsive to speech,touch or pain and may exhibit abnormal motor activity,including jerking movements of the extremities[1].In general,the patients cannot recall the complete course of the episode,and any physical findings during the episode can only be obtained through the description of witnesses.

The acceleration of ultrathin targets driven by intense laser pulses induces Rayleigh–Taylor-like *** from laser and target con-figurations,we find that electron heating and surface rippling,effects inherent to the interaction process,have an important role in instability evolution and *** employing a simple analytical model and two-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations,we show that the onset of electron heating in the early stage of the acceleration suppresses the growth of small-scale modes,but it has little influence on the growth of large-scale modes,which thus become *** the growth of surface ripples,a mechanism that can significantly influence the growth of these large-scale modes is *** laser field modulation caused by surface rippling generates an oscillatory ponderomotive force,directly modulating transverse electron density at a faster growth rate than that of ions and eventually enhancing instability *** results show that when surface deformation becomes obvious,electron surface oscillation at 2ω0(whereω0 is the laser frequency)is excited simultaneously,which can be seen as a signature of this mechanism.

Laser cladding is performed to improve the surface properties of metallic machine components. Extensive work is being conducted to investigate the relationships among the cladding parameters, clad powder characteristics and the quality of the clad layer. This work presents some of the metallographic analyses results of Wc -Ni and Wc-co clad layers. The clad layers are characterised with non-uniform carbide particles, mostly Wc imbedded in a more ductile matrix. The transition from the clad layer to the substrate metal had a distinct dilution zone. The ratio of this zone to the clad height was in the range of 10 -12% and this still needs to be refined.

Full factorial design was used to evaluate the two-body abrasive resistance of 3wt%c–4wt%Mn–1.5wt%Ni spheroidal carbide cast irons with varying vanadium（5.0wt%–10.0wt%） and chromium（up to 9.0wt%） contents. The alloys were quenched at 920℃. The regression equation of wear rate as a function of V and cr contents was proposed. This regression equation shows that the wear rate decreases with increasing V content because of the growth of spheroidal Vc carbide amount. cr influences the overall response in a complex manner both by reducing the wear rate owing to eutectic carbides（M7c3） and by increasing the wear rate though stabilizing austenite to deformation-induced martensite transformation. This transformation is recognized as an important factor in increasing the abrasive response of the alloys. By analyzing the regression equation, the optimal content ranges are found to be 7.5wt%–10.0wt% for V and 2.5wt%–4.5wt% for cr, which corresponds to the alloys containing 9vol%–15vol% spheroidal Vc carbides, 8vol%–16vol% M7c3, and a metastable austenite/martensite matrix. The wear resistance is 1.9–2.3 times that of the traditional 12wt% V–13wt% Mn spheroidal carbide cast iron.
