Viruses hijack host functions to invade their target cells and spread to new ***,viruses learned to usurp liquid-liquid phase separation(LLPS),a newly exploited mechanism,used by the cell to concentrate enzymes to accelerate and confine a wide variety of cellular *** gives rise to actual membraneless organelles(MLOs),which do not only increase reaction rates but also act as a filter to select molecules to be retained or to be excluded from the liquid *** is exactly what seems to happen with the condensation of SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein to favor the packaging of intact viral genomes,excluding viral subgenomic or host cellular *** older pandemic virus,HIV-1,also takes advantage of LLPS in the host cell during the viral *** discoveries highlighted that HIV-1 RNA genome condensates in nuclear MLOs accompanied by specific host and viral proteins,breaking the dogma of retroviruses that limited viral synthesis exclusively to the cytoplasmic *** fundamental properties of viral/host LLPS remain still *** studies will contribute to deeply understanding the role of pathogen-induced MLOs in the epidemic invasion of pandemic viruses.

Recent research on autoimmune disorders suggests additional links between systemic and central nervous system(CNS)pathophysiology,among which the identification of antibody-induced limbic encephalitis provided the strongest evidence for the potential involvement of autoimmunity in the pathogenesis of severe mood and psychotic *** these illnesses,psychiatric symptoms predominate in the initial phase of the disorder in up to 70%of the cases,and they often lead patients to early psychiatric *** this reason,it is very important to increase the limited knowledge among psychiatrists about these autoimmune neuropsychiatric diseases,which can mimic psychiatric syndromes,in particular,those typically presented in severe mood disorders and *** the other hand,similarities in clinical presentation suggest that neuroinflammation and systemic immune dysregulation may play a role in the pathophysiology of severe mood and psychotic disorders.A complex interaction between periphery and immune cells of the CNS may result in cellular damage through mechanisms involving excitotoxicity,oxidative stress,and mitochondrial *** pathways are possibly shared between comorbid medical disorders and severe mood and psychotic disorders and may reflect common underlying vulnerability.

Heteroepitaxial growth is a process of profound fundamental importance as well as an avenue to realize nanostructures such as ge/Si quantum dots(QDs),with appealing properties for applications in opto-and ***,controlling the ge/Si QD size,shape,and composition remains a major obstacle to their practical ***,ge nanostructures on Si(111)were investigated in situ and in real-time by low energy electron microscopy(LEEM),enabling the observation of the transition from wetting layer formation to 3D island growth and *** island size,shape,and distribution depend strongly on the growth *** the deposition temperature increases,the islands become larger and sparser,consistent with Brownian nucleation and capture *** 550◦C,two distinct ge/Si nanostructures are formed with bright and dark appearances that correspond to flat,atoll-like and tall,faceted islands,*** annealing,the faceted islands increase in size at the expense of the flat ones,indicating that the faceted islands are thermodynamically more *** contrast,triangular islands with uniform morphology are obtained from deposition at 600◦C,suggesting that the growth more closely follows the ideal *** annealing,the islands formed at 600◦C initially show no change in morphology and size and then rupture simultaneously,signaling a homogeneous chemical potential of the *** observations reveal the role of dynamics and energetics in the evolution of ge/Si QDs,which can serve as a step towards the precise control over the ge nanostructure size,shape,composition,and distribution on Si(111).

Binary asymmetric nanocrystals （BNCs）, composed of a photoactive TiO2 nanorod joined with a superparamagnetic γ-Fe203 spherical domain, were embedded in polyethylene glycol modified phospholipid micelle and successfully bioconjugated to a suitably designed peptide containing an RgD motif. BNCs represent a relevant multifunctional nanomaterial, owing to the coexistence of two distinct domains in one particle, characterized by high photoactivity and magnetic properties, that is particularly suited for use as a phototherapy and hyperthermia agent as well as a magnetic probe in biological imaging. We selected the RgD motif in order to target integrin expressed on activated endothelial cells and several types of cancer cells. The prepared RgD-peptide/BNC conjugates, comprehensively monitored by using complementary optical and structural techniques, demon- strated a high stability and uniform dispersibility in biological media. The cytotoxicity of the RgD-peptide/BNC conjugates was studied in vitro. The cellular uptake of RgD-peptide conjugates in the cells, assessed by means of two distinct approaches, namely confocal microscopy analysis and emission spectroscopy determination in cell lysates, displayed selectivity of the RgD-peptide-BNC conjugate for the cw]33 integrin. These RgD-peptide-BNC conjugates have a high potential for theranostic treatment of cancer.

TORCH complex, one of the potential infections that may occur during pregnancy, may contribute also to prenatal pregnant women’s anxiety and depression. The aim of this study was to explore the presence of psychiatric symptoms, in relation with infection of TORCH agents, specifically the Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) and Cytomegalovirus (CMV). The study was conducted on 58 pregnant women recruited from the Clinical Virology Unit, A.O.U. Policlinico-Vittorio Emanuele, P.O. “gaspare Rodolico”, from September 2012 to March 2014. Psychiatric symptoms were evaluated through the Symptom Checklist-90 Revised (SCL-90 R) in pregnant women with CMV or T. gondii infection. Moreover, pregnant women were invited to participate in a program of “Counseling about behavioral change”, an effective psychotherapeutic training for the development of new motivational strategies to the infection acceptance, the greater self-confidence and greater adherence to treatment. The age of the subjects was positively correlated with depression (r = 0.119, p ? 0.178, p ? 0.231, r = ? 0.320, p ? 0.208, p ? 0.105, p ? 0.236, p g psychotherapic program. Our study suggests the presence of anxiety and somatization in pregnant women with infection, expression of a phase of emotional fragility with the concern of transmitting a serious disease in the unborn child. The program “Counseling about behavioral change” allowed us to create an atmosphere of trust and to understand the usefulness of “empathic listening”. giving correct and accurate information about the disease reassures the patient and prevents the realization of negative thoughts and further concern and discomfort.

Beneficial interactions of rhizosphere microorganisms are widely exploited for plant biofertilization and mitigation of biotic and abiotic *** provide new insights into the onset of the roots–beneficial microorganisms interplay,we characterised the transcriptomes expressed in tomato roots at 24,48 and 72 h post inoculation with the beneficial fungus Trichoderma harzianum T22 and analysed the epigenetic and post-trascriptional regulation *** detected 1243 tomato transcripts that were differentially expressed between Trichoderma-interacting and control roots and 83 *** transcripts that were differentially expressed between the three experimental time *** with Trichoderma triggered a transcriptional response mainly ascribable to signal recognition and transduction,stress response,transcriptional regulation and *** tomato roots,salicylic acid,and not jasmonate,appears to have a prominent role in orchestrating the interplay with this beneficial *** regulation of many nutrient transporter genes indicated a strong effect on plant nutrition processes,which,together with the possible modifications in root architecture triggered by ethylene/indole-3-acetic acid signalling at 72 h post inoculation may concur to the well-described growth-promotion ability of this ***,***-induced defence priming and stress tolerance may be mediated by the induction of reactive oxygen species,detoxification and defence genes.A deeper insight into gene expression and regulation control provided first evidences for the involvement of cytosine methylation and alternative splicing mechanisms in the plant–Trichoderma interaction.A model is proposed that integrates the plant transcriptomic responses in the roots,where interaction between the plant and beneficial rhizosphere microorganisms occurs.
