Severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus 2 is a major global health issue and is driving the need for new *** surface spike protein,which plays a central role in virus infection,is currently the target for vaccines and neutralizing *** emergence of novel variants with multiple mutations in the spike protein may reduce the effectiveness of neutralizing antibodies by altering the binding activity of the protein with angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2).To understand the impact of spike protein mutations on the binding interactions required for virus infection and the effectiveness of neutralizing monoclonal antibody(mAb)therapies,the binding activities of the original spike protein receptor binding domain(RBD)sequence and the reported spike protein variants were investigated using surface plasmon *** addition,the interactions of the ACE2 receptor,an antispike mAb(mAb1),a neutralizing mAb(mAb2),the original spike RBD sequence,and mutants D614g,N501Y,N439K,Y453F,and E484K were *** to the original RBD,the Y453F and N501Y mutants displayed a significant increase in ACE2 binding affinity,whereas D614g had a substantial reduction in binding *** mAb-RBD mutant proteins displayed a reduction in binding affinities relative to the original RBD,except for the E484K-mAb1 *** potential neutralizing capability of mAb1 and mAb2 was ***,mAb1 failed to inhibit the ACE2-RBD interaction while mAb2 inhibited the ACE2-RBD interactions for all RBD mutants,except mutant E484K,which only displayed partial blocking.

This research explores the potential of an immersive and interactive online archive to enhance our understanding of historic architecture through the study of *** reports on implementing an augmented reality mobile application that exhibits a model for the unbuilt Endless House,1959,by Frederick Kiesler.A reflective critique,from the researcher’s point of view,and initial feedback from a small sample of architecture students,provides an insight into users’experience of the exhibition,its value as a research tool,and as an educational *** on existing technologies and established research methods,we present an alternative way of exhibiting a large-scaled model for public engagement and research collaboration between academics,archivists,and *** discuss the development of the mobile application with interactive features specifically designed for an architectural *** touches on issues associated with documenting,interpreting,and exhibiting architectural models,emphasizing accessibility,accuracy,engagement,combining 3D and 2D digital assets,and user *** was found that the interactive and immersive features of the exhibition enhanced the researchers’scope to spatially inspect the model,visually experience it,collaborate with others,and strengthen connections between the model and other examples of Kiesler’s textual and visual archival materials.

Importance:Reported coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic effects on pediatric trauma have been ***:We investigated the characteristics of pediatric trauma including alcohol use during the pandemic at our urban trauma ***:The trauma database of our adult level 1 trauma center was queried for all pediatric(age≤18 years)patients presenting between March 1,2020,and October 30,*** from 2017 to 2019 served as a *** analyzed included demographics,mechanisms,injury severity,hospitalization characteristics,and positive blood ***:Pandemic pediatric trauma volumes increased by 67.5%(330/year vs.197/year).Pandemic patients were younger(median age 13 vs.14 years,P=0.011),but similar in gender,ethnicity,severity,hospital length of stay,mortality,and rates of penetrating *** doubled(79/year vs.34/year)and shifted away from high falls>6 meters(0%vs.7.9%)to moderate falls 1–6 meters(58.2%vs.51.5%)(P=0.028).Transportation injury rates were similar however mechanisms shifted from motor vehicle crashes(−13.5%)towards recreational vehicles including motorcycles(+2.1%),all-terrain vehicles(+8.6%),and bicycles(+3.8%)(P=0.018).Pediatricpositive blood alcohol was significantly higher(11.2%vs.5.1%,Pges 14–18 years(21.7%vs.9.5%,Pg the COVID-19 pandemic *** patients had more recreational vehicle injuries and higher rates of positive blood *** suggests an increased need for alcohol assessment and targeted interventions in the pediatric population during pandemics or periods of school closures.

Some researchers, running instructors, and coaches have suggested that the "optimal" footstrike pattern to improve performance and reduce running injuries is to land using a mid-or forefoot strike. Thus, it has been recommended that runners who use a rearfoot strike would benefit by changing their footstrike although there is little scientific evidence for suggesting such a change. The rearfoot strike is clearly more prevalent. The major reasons often given for changing to a mid-or forefoot strike are(1) it is more economical;(2) there is a reduction in the impact peak and loading rate of the vertical component of the ground reaction force; and(3) there is a reduction in the risk of a running-related injuries. In this paper,we critique these 3 suggestions and provide alternate explanations that may provide contradictory evidence for altering one's footstrike *** have concluded, based on examining the research literature, that changing to a mid-or forefoot strike does not improve running economy, does not eliminate an impact at the foot-ground contact, and does not reduce the risk of running-related injuries.

Purpose: This study aims to compare the load and the length of previously ruptured and healthy Achilles tendon(AT) of a recreational runner who used different footfall patterns on each limb during ***: A 41-year-old recreational athlete with a ruptured AT participated in this report. Two force plates and a high-speed motion capture system were used to collect ground reaction force and kinematic data in shod and barefoot running conditions. AT length was measured using ultrasonography and an infrared camera system. AT force was estimated as the active plantar flexion moment divided by AT moment arm during stance ***: The participant used a rearfoot pattern on the affected limb and a forefoot/midfoot pattern on the unaffected limb during shod running,and a forefoot/midfoot pattern during barefoot running. There was no difference between the length of the affected and the unaffected AT. During shod running, the maximal AT force and loading rate were lower in the affected AT versus the unaffected AT. During barefoot running, the affected maximal AT force and loading rate were greater than the unaffected ***: Footfall patterns can be an adaptation to reduce the loading on a previously injured AT. It appears that runners may consider using a rearfoot footfall pattern during running to reduce the stress on the AT.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to compare kinetics,kinematics and muscle activation strategies between male and female collegiate level athletes during unanticipated sidestepping tasks to further the understanding of sex-specific differ-ences in injury incidence and their potential influence on ACL injury *** Three-dimensional kinematics,ground reaction forces and surface electromyography of eight lower limb muscles were recorded during unanticipated sidestepping in 20 male soccer and 17 female field hockey National Collegiate Athlet-ics Association Division 1 ***,hip and knee kinematics,knee joint moments,total muscle activation(TMA:knee,gluteal,quadriceps,hamstrings and gastrocnemii)and directed co-contraction ratios(DCCR)were compared between groups with two-sample t *** No sex differences were observed for peak frontal and transverse plane knee moments(P>0.05),however males had 10%greater knee flexion moments(P=0.047).Females had lower hip flexion and abduction and greater hip internal rota-tion angles than males likely concomitant with the 30%reduction in gluteal TMA(Pg pre-contact and weight acceptance and higher hamstrings TMA during weight acceptance(Pgroup averages for DCCR were not representative of individual patterns,where the majority of males were quadriceps dominant compared with *** Female and male team sport athletes display similar frontal and transverse plane knee moments,however their ability to support/counter the load applied(i.e.,muscle activations strategies)to the knee joint differed.
