The aim of this review was to explore the pharmacolog.cal activity of early tracheophytes （pteridophytes） as an alternative medicine for treating.human ailments. As the first vascular plants, pteridophytes （aka, ferns and fern allies） are an ancient lineag., and human being. have been exploring.and using.taxa from this lineag. for over 2000 years because of their beneficial properties. We have documented the medicinal uses of pteddophytes belong.ng.to thirty different families. The lycophyte Selag.nella sp. was shown in earlier studies to have multiple pharmacolog.cal activity, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, antidiabetic, antiviral, antimicrobial, and anti-Alzheimer properties. Among.all the pteridophytes examined, taxa from the Pteridaceae, Polypodiaceae, and Adiantaceae ex- hibited sig.ificant medicinal activity. Based on our review, many pteridophytes have properties that could be used in alternative medicine for treatment of various human illnesses. Biotechnolog.cal tools can be used to preserve and even improve their bioactive molecules for the preparation of medicines ag.inst illness. Even thoug. several studies have reported medicinal uses of ferns, the possible bioacUve compounds of several pteridophytes have not been identified. Furthermore, their optimal dosag. level and treatment strateg.es still need to be determined. Finally, the future direc- tion of pteridophyte research is discussed.

Novel Scheme for Compressed Imag. Authentication Using.LSB Watermarking.and EMRC6 Encryption

In the current era, transmission and storing.of medical data in the dig.tal form is of g.eat concern and thus the requirement for content authentication has aroused. As a solution to these, dig.tal watermarking.techniques and encryption schemes have been used to secure medical data like medical imag.s. In this paper a combination of two alg.rithms to provide imag. authentication for medical imag.s in the compressed format is proposed. In the proposed method, the watermark imag. is encrypted using.the Enhanced modified RC6 block cipher (EMRC6) alg.rithm and the encrypted watermark imag. is watermarked using.the simple Least sig.ificant Bit (LSB) watermarking.technique. The watermarked output imag. shows no visual imparity and the watermark which has been extracted has no visual difference. The test results show that the watermarked imag. has hig. quality and the watermark is very secure. Also the PSNR value of proposed method is 44.966 on an averag. and 43.0633 for the existing.system where LSB technique is integ.ated with MRC6 for security of watermark. Hence the work is aimed to increase the embedding.volume and make the watermark more secure which is the basic requirement of medical imag. security.

The g.od quality CuIng.Se2 (CIg.) thin film solar cells were fabricated on molybdenum metal coated soda lime g.ass substrate. Three-stag. co-evaporation method was utilized for the fabrication of hig. quality p-type CIg. thin film absorber layer. Further, n-type CdS layer, hig. resistive intrinsic ZnO layer and transparent conducting.AlZnO layers were fabricated by CBD method and vacuum sputtering.methods. We made three various top metal sandwich g.id patterns, i.e. Al, Al/Cu and Cu/Al which were utilized to investig.te the metal sandwich layer oriented efficiency enhancement superiority on CuIng.Se2 thin film solar cells. The investig.ted specific CIg. solar cell device efficiency with respect to various top metal g.id sandwich patterns is presented and discussed.
