In view of t.eir excellent.mechanical propert.es, workabilit. and heat.t.eat.ent.charact.rist.cs, MDN 138 & MDN 250 have been widely used in missile, rocket.and aerospace indust.ies. Wit. lig.t.weig.t.and hig. performance charact.rist.cs HE 20 aluminium alloy act. as an import.nt.mat.rial in defence and aerospace applicat.ons. t.e g.lvanic corrosion behaviour of t.e met.l combinat.ons HE 20 / MDN 138 and HE 20 / MDN 250, wit. 1:1 area rat.o, has been st.died in nat.ral seawat.r using.t.e open well facilit. of CECRI's Offshore Plat.orm at.t.t.corin for a year. t.e open circuit.pot.nt.als of MDN 138, MDN 250 and HE 20 of t.e individual met.l, t.e mixed pot.nt.al and g.lvanic current.of t.e couples HE 20 / MDN 138 and HE 20 / MDN 250 were periodically monit.red t.roug.out.t.e st.dy period. t.e calcareous deposit. on MDN 138 and MDN 250 were analysed using.XRD. t.e result. of t.e st.dy reveal t.at.t.at.HE 20 has offered required amount.of prot.ct.on t. MDN 138 & MDN 250.

MDN250 and MDN138 in nat.ral seawat.r amount. t. 93%and 98%,respect.vely,implying.t.at.t.e g.lvanic prot.ct.on offered by 15CDV6 is cont.nuous and effect.ve,which has been furt.er evinced from t.e adherent.nat.re of t.e calcareous deposit.film comprising.compounds such as CaCO3(calcit.,arag.nit.,and vat.rit.),Mg.O3(mag.esit.),Mg.OH)2(brucit.),and Mg.(brucit.).

Plankt.c foraminifera from t.e calcareous subst.at. of a ferromang.nese crust.in t.e Vit.az Fract.re Zone （VFZ）, Cent.al Indian Ridg. were st.died t. reconst.uct.t.e early Pliocene paleoceanog.aphy of t.is reg.on. Eleven species of plankt.c foraminifera were encount.red, among.t.em g.oborot.lia menardii, Neog.oboquadrina dut.rt.ei, g.obig.rina bulloides and g.obig.rinoides t.ber are prominent. Predominance of N. dut.rt.ei in t.e t.p 3 cm of t.e carbonat. subst.at. is at.ribut.d t. an influx of fresh wat.r which event.ally t.ig.ered t.eir product.vit. by increasing.t.e nut.ient.level. t.e presence of g. bulloides and g. menardii in sig.ificant.proport.ons in deeper layers sug.est. t.e prevalence of open ocean upwelling. t.e bulk chemical composit.ons of t.e subst.at. at.different.dept. int.rvals indicat.s hig.er enrichment.of t.ace met.ls in t.e upper sect.ons which could have been supplied t.roug. oceanic wat.r by t.e chemical weat.ering.of t.rrest.ial mat.er during.t.e peak of Pliocene Asian monsoon. t.us, it.is concluded t.at.during.t.e early Pliocene t.e biog.nic component. of t.e subst.at. were dist.nct.y cont.ibut.d by bot. upwelling.and product.vit. t.ig.ered by an influx of fresh wat.r orig.nat.ng.from t.e int.nsificat.on of t.e Asian monsoon during.t.e early Pliocene Period.
