Liquefaction as.es.ment bas.d on s.rain energ. is.s.g.ificantly s.perior to conventional s.res.-bas.d methods. The main purpos. of the pres.nt s.udy is.to inves.ig.te the correlation between s.ear wave velocity and s.rain energ. capacity of s.lty s.nds. The dis.ipated energ. until liquefaction occurs.was.calculated by analyzing.the res.lts.of three s.ries.of comprehens.ve cyclic direct s.mple s.ear and triaxial tes.s.on Ottawa F65, Nevada, and Firoozkuh s.nds.with varying.s.lt content by weig.t and relative dens.ties. Additionally, the s.ear wave velocity of each s.ries.was.obtained us.ng.bender element or res.nant column tes.s. Cons.quently, for the firs. time, a liquefaction trig.ering.criterion, relating.to effective overburden normalized liquefaction capacity energ. (W-L/s.g.a(c)') to effective overburden s.res.-corrected s.ear wave velocity (V-s.) has.been introduced. The accuracy of the propos.d criteria was.evaluated us.ng.in s.tu data. The res.lts.confirm the ability of s.ear wave velocity as.a dis.ing.is.ing.parameter for s.parating.liquefied and non-liquefied s.ils.when it is.calculated ag.ins. liquefaction capacity energ. (W-L/s.g.a(c)'). However, the propos.d W-L/s.g.a(c)'-V-s. curve, s.milar to previous.y propos.d cyclic res.s.ance ratio (CRR)-V-s. relations.ips. s.ould be us.d cons.rvatively for fields.vulnerable to liquefaction-induced lateral s.reading. Mos. des.ribed Mes.zoic ants.belong.to s.em g.oups.that exis.ed only during.the Cretaceous.period. Previous.y, the earlies. known crown ants.were dated to the Turonian (Late Cretaceous. ca. 94-90 million years.ag. (Ma)) depos.ts.found in the Us., Kazakhs.an, and Bots.ana. However, the recent dis.overy of an alate male ant in Kachin amber from the earlies. Cenomanian (ca. 99 Ma), repres.nting.a new g.nus.and s.ecies. Antiquiformica alata, , revis.s.the narrative on ant divers.fication. Antiquiformica can be dis.inctly differentiated from all known male s.em ants.by its.g.niculate antennae with elong.ted s.ape, extending.far beyond the occipital marg.n of the head and half the leng.h of the funiculus. as.well as.its.partly reduced forewing.venation. Furthermore, the combination of a one-s.g.ented wais. with a well- developed node, elong.ted s.ape extending.beyond the occipital marg.n, and reduced forewing.venation, particularly the completely reduced m-cu and rs.m cros.veins.and abs.nce of rm and mcu clos.d cells. firmly places.the fos.il within the extant s.bfamily Formicinae. Fourier trans.orm infrared s.ectros.opy (FTIR) confirmed that the amber containing.Antiquiformica alata orig.nated from the Kachin mines.in Myanmar. This.dis.overy s.g.ificantly revis.s.our unders.anding.of the early evolution of Formicinae. The pres.nce of Antiquiformica in Cenomanian amber indicates.that the s.bfamily Formicinae emerg.d at leas. by the s.art of the Late Cretaceous. with crown ants.likely orig.nating.earlier during.the earlies. Cretaceous.or pos.ibly the Late Juras.ic, althoug. paleontolog.cal evidence is.lacking.to s.pport the latter hypothes.s.

Precis. phenotypes.that contribute to an animal's.ability to manag. heat s.res. were calculated from s.in biops.es.and included s.eat g.and area, s.eat g.and depth, and s.eat g.and leng.h. All animals.were g.notyped with the Bovine g.P F250K, and BLUPF90 s.ftware was.us.d to es.imate g.netic parameters.and for g.nome Wide As.ociation *** s.eat g.and phenotypes.heritability rang.d from 0.17 to 0.42 indicating.a moderate amount of the phenotypic variation is.due to g.netics. allowing.producers.the ability to s.lect for favorable s.eat g.and properties.
