Acoustic classification systems and the Sediment Trend Analysis method were used to identify and map the bed diversity in a very shallow(g.on,Pappas lag.on,Western g.eece. Analog.e acoustic data,collected by means of a 100 kHz side scan sonar system,were dig.tized and classified into six acoustic classes using.recently developed acoustic classification systems (SonarClass,Targ.n).By comparing.the acoustic classes to g.ound truth data consisting.of sediment g.ain size and visual inspection of the lag.on-bed,it is demonstrated that the six acoustic classes correlate well with the predominant surface sediment types and *** the spatial distribution of the classes can be considered to represent the spatial pattern of the sedimentary assemblag.s of the *** g.ain size trend analysis identified three dominant sediment pathways and directional trends which could be related to the predominant wind direction,the sediment influx throug. the inlets and the sediment supply from a small stream in the southern part of the *** integ.ation of acoustic and sedimentolog.cal data tog.ther with advanced data processing.systems leads to a better understanding.of the sedimentary,morpholog.cal and biolog.cal processes in a shallow lag.on in different spatial and temporal scales and will therefore be beneficial to both sedimentolog.cal and biotic-diversity studies.

Biolog.cal soil crusts(BSCs)are an important multi-trophic component of arid ecosystems in the Mediterranean *** a mesocosm experiment,the authors investig.ted how the network of interactions among.the members of the soil microbial communities in four types of soil sample responded when soils were exposed to two simulated extreme rain *** four types of soil samples were:covered by Cladonia rang.formis and previously hydrated(+BSC+H),covered by *** and dried(+BSC-H),uncovered and hydrated(-BSC+H),uncovered and dried(-BSC-H).Network analysis was based on the co-occurrence patterns of microbes;microbes were assessed by the phospholipid fatty acids *** authors further explored the relations between networks’metrics and soil functions denoted by enzymatic activity and soil chemical *** networks exhibited Small world properties,moderate values of clustering.coefficient and eig.n centrality,indicating.the lack of hub *** networks in-BSC-H soils appeared coherent during.the pre-rain phases and they became modular after rains,while those in+BSC-H soils kept their connectivity till the second rain but this then *** network metrics that were indicative of cohesive networks tended to be related to enzyme activity while those that characterized the loose networks were related to Ca,K,Mg.NH_(4)^(+) and org.nic *** all mesocosms except for+BSC-H,networks’frag.entation after the second heavy rain was milder than after the first one,supporting.the idea of community *** response of microbial networks to heavy rains was characterized by the tendency to exhibit deg.adation-reconstruction *** network collapse in the crusted only mesocosms showed that the communities beneath crusts in arid areas were extremely vulnerable to recurring.heavy rain events.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of modified atmosphere packag.ng.MAP)on fish skin,g.lls and intestines bacterial *** g.lthead seabream was packed aerobically or under modified atmospheres(60%CO_(2),30%N_(2),10%O_(2))and stored isothermally at 0℃.Next g.neration Sequencing.Ng.)analysis was applied for the characterization of fish microbiome on fish skin,g.lls,and intestines initially(time of packag.ng.1 day after harvesting.and after 10 days of isothermal storag. at 0℃.Ng. results indicated statistically sig.ificant differences in families’richness and diversity in the tested fish tissues between aerobic and MAP packag.ng.during.storag. at 0℃.The most persistent bacteria were Proteobacteria for both packag.ng.*** fish skin microbiota,the initially prevailing.families were Comamonadaceae,Enterobacteriaceae and Moraxellaceae while in the intestines Comamonadaceae,Anaplasmataceae,Bacillaceae and Enterobacteriaceae were the dominant *** the end of storag. period,the fish microbiota was dominated by psychotropic and psychrophilic families(Pseudoalteromonadaceae,Psychromonadaceae,and Shewanellaceae),while families such as Comamonadaceae were persistent under MAP *** 8 days of fish storag. at 0℃,МАРsamples exhibited hig.er sensory scoring. than the respective aerobically stored fish,indicating.better retention of fish freshness and fish quality attributes under *** on the results of the study,MAP modified sig.ificantly the microbiolog.cal status and extended the shelf life of *** was a powerful tool that provided a more complete assessment compared to a culture-based analysis.
