Starch.nanocrystals(SNC)were prepared from maize starch.using.ultrasound assisted acid *** process takes less time for th. g.neration of SNC,wh.ch.is advantag.ous over conventional acid *** synth.sized SNC were ch.racterized using.X-ray diffraction,dynamic lig.t scattering.zeta potential and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).Particle size and TEM data sh.w th.t th. particles were near to 150 nm,with.oval *** SNC with.h.g.er surface ch.rg. are obtained with.th.s innovative approach.as compared to conventional acid *** of h.g. surface ch.rg. and oval like morph.log.,th. SNC performed well in reinforcing.a polyureth.ne *** rise in crystallinity by 16%was observed due to ultrasound *** th. lower concentration of SNC in nanocomposite film,dynamic mech.nical analysis demonstrated meaning.ul increment in mech.nical properties of polyureth.ne nanocomposite *** decrease in ch.in slippag. over th. g.ass transition temperature was observed because of th. SNC reinforcement in polyureth.ne *** to th. conventional acid h.drolysis,th. present approach.for th. synth.sis of starch.nanocrystals is much.faster and easier.

Pure ZnO th.ck film, prepared by screen-printing.tech.ique, was almost insensitive to Nh.. Pure ZnO th.ck films were surface modified with.MnO2 by dipping.th.m into 0.01 M aqueous solution of mang.nese ch.oride (MnCl2) for different intervals of time and fired at 500℃ for 12 h. Th. g.ains of MnO2 would disperse around th. g.ains of ZnO base material. Th. MnO2 modified ZnO films dipped for 30 min were observed to be sensitive and h.g.ly selective to Nh. g.s at room temperature. An exceptional sensitivity was found to low concentration (50 ppm) of Nh. g.s at room temperature and no cross sensitivity was observed even to h.g. concentrations of oth.r h.zardous and polluting.g.ses. Th. effects of surface microstructure and MnO2 concentrations on th. sensitivity, selectivity, response and recovery of th. sensor in th. presence of Nh.and oth.r g.ses were studied and discussed. Th. better performance could be attributed to an optimum number of surface misfits in terms of MnO2 on th. ZnO films.

In th.s paper a simplified approach.to optimize th. desig. of Sh.ll Tube h.at Exch.ng.r [STh.] by flow induced vibration analysis [FVA] is presented. Th. vibration analysis of STh. h.lps in ach.eving.optimization in desig. by prevention of tube failure caused due to flow induced vibration. Th. main reason for tube failure due to flow induced vibration is increased size of STh.. It is found th.t in case of increased size of STh., th. surface area and number of tubes increases, th.s th. understanding.and analysis of vibration becomes a very difficult task. Ag.in it is found th.t flow induced vibration analysis is considered as an integ.al part of mech.nical & th.rmal desig. of STh.. Th. detailed desig., fabrication, testing.and analysis work was carried out at Alfa Laval (India), Ltd., Pune-10.
