The serpentinite blocks of Indikolapelessa, located along an identified litho-tectonic boundary between the Highland Complex （HC） and the Vijayan Complex （VC） of Sri Lanka, have undergone extensive lateralization with metal enrichment. Characteristic serpentinite vegetation with some endemic species was recognized in the soils and supergene deposits develop on serpentinite lithology. This type of geological and ecological relationship forms vegetation covers on serpentinite lithologies which are sharply demarcated from the surrounding metamorphic terrains. The aforesaid ＂geo-ecological phenomenon＂ can be used as a tool for geo-vegetation mapping in ultramafic terrains to trace the geological boundaries in landscapes where rock outcrops are virtually absent. we success- fully applied the concept of geo-vegetation mapping in order to demarcate the boundary of underlain serpentinite rocks from surrounding non-serpentinite metamorphic rocks （e.g. granitic gneiss）. The hypothesis was supported by the geochemical variations of soils/supergene deposits found at serpen- tinite and non-serpentinite sites, especially immobile elements and some trace elements. Based on whole rock chemistry and soil chemical data obtained, we suggest that the Indikolapelessa serpentinite outcrop, together with the other four serpentinite outcrops, is more likely to represent the Mg-rich mantle fragments at the time of overthrusting of the two crustal blocks of HC and VC during the Pan- African event.

Emplacement and Evolution History of Pegmatites and Hydrothermal Deposits, Matale District, Sri Lanka

Excellent outcrops in Matale Sri Lanka provide unique insight into the emplacement and evolution history of hydrothermal and pegmatitic rocks in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. Field, structural, petrological, thermo-barometric studies in the metamorphic basement rocks in the central highlands and related hydrothermal deposits are presented in this study. Detailed petrographic and mineralogical data reveal peak metamorphic conditions for the crustal unit in the study area as 854 ± 44oC at 10.83 ± 0.86 kbar. Hydrothermal veins consisting of quartz and mica are closely related to cross-cutting pegmatites, which significantly post-date the peak metamorphic conditions of the crustal unit. Field relations indicate that the veins originated as ductile-brittle fractures have subsequently sealed by pegmatites and hydrothermal crystallization. geological, textural and mineralogical data suggest that most enriched hydrothermal veins have evolved from a fractionated granitic melt progressively enriched in H2O, F, etc. Quartz, K-feldspar, mica, tourmaline, fluorite and topaz bear evidence of multistage crystallization that alternated with episodes of resorption. It was suggested that the level of emplacement of pegmatites of the Matale District was middle crust, near the crustal scale brittle-ductile transition zone at a temperature of about 600oC. For this crustal level and temperature range, it is considered very unlikely that intruding pegmatitic melts followed pre-existing cracks. As such the emplacement temperatures of the pegmatites could be well below the peak metamorphic estimates in the mafic granulites. The metamorphic P-T strategy and position of formation of hydrothermal deposits and pegmatites is summarized in the modified P-T-t-D diagrams.

Non-traditional lignocellulosic materials are a significant resource for producing high-value products,including *** work studied the nanocellulose obtention from chemical pulps of the two fast-growing bamboo species,guadua trinii,and guadua *** pulps were produced by soda-anthraquinone(S)pulping from both autohydrolysis-pretreated(H)and unpretreated bamboo ***-pretreated(SHP)and unpretreated soda-anthraquinone(AQ)(SP)pulps were characterized by yield,Kappa number,alpha,beta,and gamma cellulose,degree of polymerization,water retention value,and *** nanocellulose was produced by a sequential chemical oxidation treatment(2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl,TEMPO reagent)and mechanical *** was characterized by carboxylic group content and *** results revealed that autohydrolysis pretreatment resulted in a higher hemicelluloses extraction in *** contrast,the pulping yield of unpretreated samples was higher for ***,and the soda-AQ pulps from this species exhibited better delignification than the autohydrolysis-pretreated *** crystallinity index values of the obtained pulps were high(>80%),and the alpha-cellulose contents were *** viscosities of the aqueous nanocellulose suspensions were higher for the nanocellulose solutions obtained from the unpretreated soda-AQ ***,nanocellulose from *** unpretreated soda-AQ pulps had a higher rate of carboxylic *** results of this work are significant in assessing the potential of both bamboo species as a source of high-value products within the biorefinery framework because the viscosities of the aqueous nanocellulose suspensions depend on the size and shape of *** has significant importance for industrial unit operations and potential applications.

Control system design for a pressure-tube-type supercritical water-cooled nuclear reactor via a higher order sliding mode method

Approach for C1 to C2 products commencing from carbon dioxide: A brief review

The carbon dioxide (CO2) conversion to useable compounds remains a great contest to scientists, engineers, and environmentalists with regard to the reverse of the oxidative degradation of organics. This conversion is essential for the development of complementary fuels and raw materials for various industries, which in turn will help in avoiding the drastic increase in tropospheric temperature due to greenhouse effect leading to global warming. The solar energy is the earth's essential power source along with the other various forms of energy for example fossil fuels, hydropower, wind, and biomaterials, etc. The final goal is to establish the artificial photosynthesis, which can be replicated thru various chemical reduction techniques of CO2 by employing appropriate photo-, thermal- and electro-catalysts in order to produce different one carbon atom (C-1) and higher carbon atoms containing products. Besides, the utilization of clean and sustainable CO2 towards high-value products is of great interest today due to the recognized environmental worries and subsequent lessening of the fossil fuels utilization load to meet the energy demand of mankind. This way, solar energy can directly and/or indirectly be altered and stored in chemical energy form for industrial as well as societal applications. In this article our endeavor is to summarize the advances in CO2 chemical reduction research area till date especially in free radical-based methods such as electrochemical, photochemical and plasma chemical for the development of carbon species up to two carbon (C-2) atoms containing products perceived in the chemical reduction of CO2. The author hopes that this piece of work will be helpful to researchers and readers who are focused on the field of CO2.

while we eagerly anticipate SMILE’s(Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer)unprecedented X-ray observations of the Earth’s magnetosheath and the initiation of a new era of magnetospheric research,it seems appropriate to look ahead to the abilities of the next generation of astrophysics *** these,the Line Emission Mapper(LEM),a large aperture micro-calorimeter based mission,is currently planned to be able to observe the magnetosheath at high spectral resolution(~2 eV).with a field of view of~30′,LEM will allow higher spatial resolution and higher cadence measurement of the motion of a very small portion of the magnetopause over relatively short periods of time(multiple hours),complementing SMILE’s global ***’s strength is its spectral *** will be able to measure the abundance of a broad range of elements and ionization states,many of which are inaccessible to current in situ instruments,and will be able to separate the emission from the magnetosheath from the emission from the cosmic X-ray background using the difference in their relative velocities.

Multi-objective method of selecting performance-based local climatic zones using binomial logistic regression in warm and humid climate

Urban agglomeration is a serious concern due to its high energy usage and impact on the local *** countries strive to determine the development path to optimize energy *** present study aims to examine the local climatic zones(LCZs)performance in warm and humid climate through a multi-objective approach for the residential *** performance is assessed by evaluating the urban microclimate and cooling load consumption for both summer and winter months using binomial logistic *** study concludes that LCZ 2_(3)(compact mid-rise with open low-rise)and LCZ 6_(B)(open low-rise with scattered trees)perform better for 80%and 50%of total hours in warm and humid *** also proves the presence of significant performance differences between mid-rise and low-rise *** intra-zonal differences between the climatic variables are higher than the inter-zonal differences due to the impact of land surface temperature(LST).The high aspect ratio and low sky view factor of LCZ 2_(3) help the residents in that morphology in enhancing better thermal comfort and reducing cooling load *** present study contributes to building regulation policymakers by providing information on the suitable morphology for warm and humid climate.

Nonlinear corrections for the nuclear gluon distribution in eA processes

An analytical study with respect to the nonlinear corrections for the nuclear gluon distribution function in the next-to-leading order approximation at small x is *** consider the nonlinear corrections to the nuclear gluon distribution functions at low values of x and Q^(2) using the parametrization F_(2)(x,Q^(2))and the nuclear modification factors obtained from the Khanpour-Soleymaninia-Atashbar-Spiesberger-guzey *** CT18 gluon distribution is used for the baseline proton gluon density at Q^(2)_(0)=*** discuss the behavior of the gluon densities in the next-to-leading order and the next-to-next-to-leading order approximations at the initial scale Q^(2)_(0),as well as the modifications due to the nonlinear *** find that the QCD nonlinear corrections are more significant for the next-to-leading order accuracy than the next-to-next-to-leading order for light and heavy *** results of the nonlinear gLr-MQ evolution equation are similar to those obtained with the rausch-guzey-Klasen gluon upward and downward evolutions within the *** magnitude of the gluon distribution with the nonlinear corrections increases with a decrease in x and an increase in atomic number A.

A series of orange-red light emitting Ca_(2)MgSi_(2)O_(7):Sm^(3+)nanopowders were fabricated via low-cost ecofriendly green combustion technique using Aloe vera gel as *** phase purity of the samples were confirmed by the powder X-ray diffraction(PXrD)*** single-phase tetragonal structure is observed from the PXrD results with no additional impurity *** band gap energy of the fabricated powders was estimated by diffuse reflectance spectra(DrS)and is found to be in the range of 4.01-5.98 eV.A high resolution scanning electron microscope(SEM)was used to study the morphological behaviour of the ***-like structures are observed from the SEM *** particle size was evaluated by transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and is found to be~50 *** interplanar distance is found to be 0.53 *** properties were systematically studied in *** phosphors are successfully excited at 403 nm NUV light,producing reddish-orange characteristic *** emission peaks are centered at 558(^(4)g_(5/2)→^(6)H_(5/2)),607(^(4)g_(5/2)→^(6)H_(7/2))and 645 nm(^(4)g_(5/2)→^(6)H_(9/2)),*** the observed peaks the red emanation(^(4)g_(5/2)→^(6)H_(7/2))is stronger than the orange emission(^(4)g_(5/2)→^(6)H_(5/2))in the current *** photoluminescent concentration quenching is noticed above 5 mol%Sm^(3+)ion doping *** dipole-dipole interaction resulting in cross relaxation is found to be the principal cause of concentration quenching *** color features such as Commission Internationale de I’Eclairage(CIE)and correlated color temperature(CCT)were studied in *** optimized chromaticity coordinates were estimated to be(0.6363,0.3632),which fall in the reddish-orange *** average CCT value obtained is 3362 *** average color purity is found to be~82%.Sm^(3+)incorporated Ca_(2)MgSi_(2)O_(7) samples are possible contender for single white light generation commercial candidates owing to
