氯化法处理难溶金矿应用于许多低品位金冶炼工艺中。实际应用中,此法可以氧化硫化矿、钝化散布的有机碳。但是,在用氰化物浸取前,需要对氯进行中和。美国矿务局的研究拓展了现有的氯化技术,使得金的回收无需再使用氰化物,还使得一些目前认为无法采用氯化法或氯化/氰化法进行处理的矿石能得以处理。两种碳质矿石的无炭氯化处理仅能提取1％到20％的金,而加炭氯化法(CICL)处理能使回收率达到90％,而且以金属态吸附于炭上,实验统计表明,氯从炭载体上洗脱金属态金的洗脱率可超过90％。

Fluorescent Proteins(FP)can be applied as biomarkers and biosensors in the industrial and medical fields,but their large-scale use,especially for new industrial applications,is limited due to their low ***,the discovery of additives capable of preserving the activity of FP at room temperature and under stress conditions can help to expand and facilitate their commercial *** this goal,we evaluated the application of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride-based([C_(n)mim]Cl)ionic liquids(ILs)as additives to preserve the activity of Enhanced green Fluorescent Protein(EgFP)at different storage times and under unfavorable ***[C_(n)mim]Cl solutions(at 0.100 mol L^(-1))were able to preserve EgFP fluorescence for longer than the phosphatesaline buffer(PBS)and naCl solutions,increasing its fluorescence manifestation from 1 to 3 months.[C_(n)mim]Cl with shorter to medium cationic alkyl chains were the most effective in preserving EgFP fluorescence.[C_(n)mim]Cl also protected EgFP activity in the presence of the surfactant SDS,the acid guanidine hydrochloride,and H_(2)O_(2).Therefore,[C_(n)mim]Cl can be added to aqueous solutions to preserve EgFP fluorescence activity at room temperature for longer storage times and to reduce the negative impact of denaturing agents on ***,there is a massive potential for the application of ILs as additives to preserve FP in the long-term without refrigeration and under unfavorable conditions,and this is fundamental to enable expansion of FP in industrial and commercial applications.

Phase 3 trial of first generation protease inhibitor therapy for hepatitis C virus/human immunodeficiency virus coinfection

AIMTo evaluate efficacy/safety of hepatitis C virus (HCV) protease inhibitor boceprevir with pegylated interferon (PEg-IFn) alfa and weight-based ribavirin (RBV) in a phase 3 trial. METHODSA prospective, multicenter, phase 3, open-label, single-arm study of PEg-IFn alfa, weight-based RBV, and boceprevir, with a PEg-IFn/RBV lead-in phase was performed. The HCV/human immunodeficiency virus coinfected study population included treatment naïve (Tn) and treatment experienced (TE) patients. Treatment duration ranged from 28 to 48 wk dependent upon response-guided criteria. All patients had HCV genotype 1 with a viral load > 10000 IU/mL. Compensated cirrhosis was allowed. Sample size was determined to establish superiority to historical (PEg-IFn plus RBV) rates in sustained viral response (SVR). RESULTSA total of 257 enrolled participants were analyzed (135 Tn and 122 TE). In the Tn group, 81.5% were male and 54.1% were black. In the TE group, 76.2% were male and 47.5% were white. Overall SVR12 rates (HCV RnA P = 0.002). Among the Tn, SVR12 was 42.1% among whites and 27.4% among blacks (P = 0.09). COnCLUSIOnThe trial met its hypothesis of improved SVR compared to historical controls but overall SVR rates were low. All-oral HCV treatments will mitigate these difficulties.

Two women, aged 27 and 45 years, presented to the Dermatology Outpatient Clinic with acne vulgaris. Both had nodular acne in a similar distribution over the cheeks, chin, and perioral areas (Fig. 1). Each had a history of acne vulgaris as a teenager. Both were healthcare assistants working in the SingaporegeneralHospital throughout the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) crisis, had wornn95 masks continuously for about 3 months whilst on the wards, and had suffered an outbreak of acne of the skin occluded by the mask. They were treated with topical retinoid and systemic antimicrobials, and both responded well.
