Deep learning for broadleaf weed seedlings classification incorporating data variability and model flexibility across two contrasting environments

The increasing deployment of deep learning models for distinguishing weeds and crops has witnessed notable strides in agricultural ***,a conspicuous gap endures in the literature concerning the training and testing of models across disparate environmental *** methodologies either delineate a single dataset distribution into training,validation,and testing subsets or merge datasets from diverse condi-tions or distributions before their division into the *** study aims to ameliorate this gap by extending to several broadleaf weed categories across varied distributions,evaluating the impact of training convolutional neural networks on datasets specific to particular conditions or distributions,and assessing their performance in entirely distinct settings through three *** evaluating diverse network architectures and training approaches(finetuning versus feature extraction),testing various architectures,employing different training strategies,and amalgamating data,we devised straightforward guidelines to ensure the model's deployability in contrasting environments with sustained precision and *** Experiment 1,conducted in a uniform environment,accuracy ranged from 80%to 100%across all models and training strategies,with finetune mode achieving a superior performance of 94%to 99.9%compared to the feature extraction mode at 80%to 92.96%.Experiment 2 underscored a significant performance decline,with accuracy fig-ures between 25%and 60%,primarily at 40%,when the origin of the test data deviated from the train and valida-tion *** 3,spotlighting dataset and distribution amalgamation,yielded promising accuracy metrics,notably a peak of 99.6%for Resnet in finetuning mode to a low of 69.9%for InceptionV3 in feature extraction *** pivotal findings emphasize that merging data from diverse distributions,coupled with finetuned training on advanced architectures like Resnet and Mobilenet,markedly enhances

Optimal Design of Hybrid Microgrid in Isolated Communities of Ecuador

In rural territories, the communities use energy sources based on fossil fuels to supply themselves with electricity, which may address two main problems: greenhouse gas emissions and high fuel prices. Hence, there is an opportunity to include renewable resources in the energy mix. This paper develops an optimization model to determine the optimal sizing, the total annual investment cost in renewable generation, and other operating costs of the components of a hybrid microgrid. By running a k-means clustering algorithm on a meteorological dataset of the community under study, the hourly representative values become input parameters in the proposed optimization model. The method for the optimal design of hybrid microgrid is analyzed in six operating scenarios considering:(1) 24-hour continuous power supply;(2) load shedding percentage;(3) diesel power generator(genset) curtailment;(4) the worst meteorological conditions;(5) the use of renewable energy sources including battery energy storage systems(BESSs);and(6) the use of genset. A mathematical programming language(AMPL) tool is used to find solutions of the proposed optimization model. Results show that the total costs of microgrid in the scenarios that cover 100% of the load demand(without considering the scenario with 100% renewables) increase by over 16% compared with the scenario with genset operation limitation. For the designs with power supply restrictions, the total cost of microgrid in the scenario with load shedding is reduced by over 27% compared with that without load shedding.

In the realm of molecular phase transition research,particularly for applications in sensors,data storage and switching technologies,the role of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite materials has been increasingly recognized for their significant ***,hybrid post-perovskites,as a critical subclass of perovskites,have not been thoroughly studied and mainly limit in the instances based on polyatomic bridging agents like dicyanamide(dca^(-))and non-cyclic organic ***,a polar cyclic quaternary ammonium cation,n,n-dimethylpyrrolidinium(DMP^(+)),was used to assemble a new hybrid post-perovskite,(DMP)[Mn(dca)_(3)](1),which undergoes a phase transition from orthorhombic Bmmb to monoclinic P2_(1)/n space group at 249 *** employing multiple techniques such as differential scanning calorimetry,variable-temperature single-crystal X-ray analysis,dielectric measurements,and Hirshfeld surface analysis,we disclosed the role of polar cyclic quaternary ammonium DMP^(+)in elevating the phase-transition temperature by 48 K,generating significant dielectric switching effect and facilitating interlayer sliding of inorganic framework.

Prognostic value of n-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide and troponin Ⅰ in children with dengue shock syndrome

Objective:To investigate the contribution of n-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide(nT-pro BnP)and troponin Ⅰ to mortality in children with dengue shock ***:A longitudinal study was conducted on children with dengue shock syndrome in a hospital in southern *** clinical histories,physical examinations,and laboratory parameters,including nT-pro BnP and troponin Ⅰ,were recorded.A comparison between survival and non-survival was carried out to identify factors influencing ***:A total of 107 patients with a median age of 9 years were included in the *** them,63.6%(68/107)presented with compensated shock,36.4%(39/107)had hypotensive shock,23.4%(25/107)required mechanical ventilation,and 12.1%(13/107)*** nT-pro BnP levels were 3.9 pmol/L(IQR:1.9,10.3)and 15.2 pmol/L(5.8,46.3),while the median high sensitivity troponin Ⅰ levels were 20 pg/L(6,95)and 62 pg/L(12,325)at the first and second measurements,*** mortality group exhibited higher rates of hypotensive shock,prolonged shock,lactate levels,liver damage,nT-pro BnP,and troponin Ⅰ *** shock(OR 12.96,95%CI 2.70-62.30,P=0.004),prolonged shock(OR 39.40,95%CI 6.68-232.70,P1000 IU/L(OR 9.50,95%CI 2.63-34.34,P=0.041),and nT-pro BnP>7 pmol/L(OR 44.40,95%CI 5.44-362.20,P=0.001)were identified as predictive factors for mortality in dengue shock ***:The nT-pro BnP level could serve as a potential biomarker for predicting mortality in children with dengue shock syndrome.

Wildfire events are increasing globally which may be partly associated with climate change,resulting in significant adverse impacts on local,regional air quality and global *** September 2020,a small wildfire(burned area:36.3 ha)event occurred in Souesmes(Loiret-Cher,Sologne,France),and its plume spread out over 200 km on the following day as observed by the MODIS *** on measurements at a suburban site(~50 km northwest of the fire location)in Orléans and backward trajectory analysis,young wildfire plumes were *** increases in gaseous pollutants(CO,CH_(4),n_(2)O,VOCs,etc.)and particles(including black carbon)were found within the wildfire plumes,leading to a reduced air *** factors,defined as EF(X)=ΔX/ΔCO(where,X represents the target species),of various trace gases and black carbon within the young wildfire plumes were determined accordingly and compared with previous *** in the ambient ions(such as ammonium,sulfate,nitrate,chloride,and nitrite in the particle-and gasphase)and aerosol properties(e.g.,aerosol water content,aerosol p H)were also quantified and ***,we estimated the total carbon and climate-related species(e.g.,CO_(2),CH_(4),n_(2)O,and BC)emissions and compared them with fire emission *** biomass burning emission inventories have uncertainties in estimating small fire burned areas and *** instance,we found that the global Fire Assimilation System(gFAS)may underestimate emissions(e.g.,CO)of this small wildfire while other inventories(gFED and FInn)showed significant *** that it is the first time to record wildfire plumes in this region,related atmospheric implications are presented and discussed.

Fungal infections in immunocompromised critically ill patients

Diverse pathogenic fungi can produce severe infections in immunocompromised patients, thereby justifying intensive care unit (ICU) admissions. In some cases, the infections can develop in immunocompromised patients who were previously admitted to the ICU. Aspergillus spp., Pneumocystis jirovecii, Candida spp., and Mucorales are the fungi that are most frequently involved in these infections. Diagnosis continues to be challenging because symptoms and signs are unspecific. Herein, we provide an in-depth review about the diagnosis, with emphasis on recent advances, and treatment of these invasive fungal infections in the ICU setting.

Clinical and demographic features of patients undergoing videocapsule endoscopy management:A descriptive study

BACKgROUnD Video-capsule endoscopy(VCE)is an efficient tool that has proven to be highly useful in approaching several gastrointestinal *** was implemented in Colombia in 2003,however current characterization of patients undergoing VCE in Colombia is limited,and mainly comes from two investigations conducted before the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic *** To describe the characteristics of patients undergoing VCEs and establish the main indications,findings,technical limitations,and other outstanding *** A descriptive study was carried out using data from reports of VCE(PillCam SB3 system)use in a gastroenterology Unit in Bogotá,Colombia between September 2019 and January *** and clinical variables such as indication for the VCE,gastric and small bowel transit times(gTT,SBTT),endoscopic preparation quality,and limitations were described[n(%),median(IQR)].RESULTS A total of 133 VCE reports were *** were in men with a median age of 70 *** majority had good preparation(96.2%),and there were technical limitations in 15.8%of *** main indications were unexplained anemia(91%)or occult bleeding(23.3%).The median gTT and SBTT were 14 and 30 minutes,*** frequencies of bleeding stigma(3.79%)and active bleeding(9.09%)were low,and the most frequent abnormal findings were red spots(28.3%),erosions(17.6%),and vascular ectasias(12.5%).COnCLUSIOn VCE showed high-level *** main indication was unexplained *** bleeding was the most frequent *** with artificial intelligence,VCE can improve diagnostic precision and targeted therapeutic interventions.
