The effectiveness of monitoring and early-warning systems for ground deformation phenomena,such as sinkholes,depends on their ability to accurately resolve the ongoing ground displacement and detect the subtle deformation preceding catastrophic *** sinkholes with a slow subsidence rate and diffuse edges pose a significant challenge for subsidence monitoring due to the low deformation rates and limited lateral strain *** this work,we satisfactorily illustrate the practicality of the Brillouin optical time domain analysis(BOTDA)to measure the spatial-temporal patterns of the vertical displacement in such challenging slow-moving sagging *** assess the performance of the approach,we compare the strain recorded by the distributed optical fiber sensor with the vertical displacement measured by high-precision *** results show a good spatial correlation with the ability to identify the maximum subsidence *** is also a good temporal correlation with the detection of an acceleration phase in the subsidence associated with a flood event.

Objective: The present study aimed to compare the polyphenol content, total phenolic, total flavonoid, antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of the extracts obtained from Centaurea amaena Boiss. & Balansa and Centaurea aksoyi Hamzao?lu & Budak. Methods: Both species were subjected to maceration, Soxhlet and ultrasonication extractions with methanol in order to macerated(ME), Soxhlet(SE) and ultrasonicated(UE) extracts. Their phenolic profiles were qualitatively examined by LC-MS. Their antioxidant activities were determined by phosphomolybdenum, β-carotene bleaching and DPPH assays. Agar diffusion and broth dilution methods were carried out to find the antimicrobial activity of these extracts against fifteen microorganisms. Results: Quercetin, quercetin-3-β-D-glucoside and protocatechuic acid were the main components of the both extracts obtained by Soxhlet extraction. The highest phenolic and flavonoid contents were found in the UE for both species. All the extracts exhibited good total antioxidant and DPPH radical scavenging activity. UE obtained from C. amaena showed the highest antioxidant activity with the highest phenolic and flavonoid contents. The antibacterial activity of UE obtained from C. amaena was better than other extracts and antibacterial activity of C. amaena was also better than C. aksoyi. Discussion: This study confirms that ultrasonic extraction may be an ideal, simple and rapid method to obtain polyphenol-rich extracts have antioxidant as well as antibacterial activity from both Centaureaspecies especially from C. amaena.

Objective:To evaluate total phenolic,antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of methanolic extracts of the Wiedemannia multifida(***)and Wiedemannnia orientalis(***).Methods:Phosmomolybdenum assay,DPPH radical scavenging activity andβ-carotent-linoleate bleaching were used to evaluate the antioxidant ***:The total phenolics were found to be(22.45±0.60)and(9.53±0.00)mg gallic acid equivalents(gAE)/g in *** and *** extracts,*** predominant phenolic compounds identified by HPLC-DAD in the both extracts were rutin+ellagic acid and *** antioxidant capacity and DPPH radical scavenging activity of *** were higher than ***β-carotene-linoleic acid system,both extracts exhibited strong inhibition against linoleic acid *** activity was assessed by the agar diffusion method against fifteen *** extracts exhibited remarkable antibacterial ***:The present study suggests that methanolic extracts of *** and *** could be a good source of antioxidant and antimicrobial agents in foods,pharmaceuticals preparations.

Outcomes of early physiotherapy in patients with cerebral aneurysms treated by surgical clipping or endovascular embolization

Early physiotherapy was given to 124 patients with ruptured or unruptured cerebral aneurysms who were treated by surgical clipping or endovascular *** were divided into four groups according to their Hunt and Hess grade at admission and aneurysm treatment modality： group 1,Hunt and Hess grade≤II and surgical clipping;group 2,Hunt and Hess grade≤II and endovascular embolization;group 3,Hunt and Hess grade≥III and surgical clipping;group 4,Hunt and Hess grade≥III and endovascular *** of consciousness was evaluated using the glasgow Coma Scale,functional status using the glasgow Outcome Scale,level of the mobility using the Mobility Scale for acute stroke patients,and independence in activities of daily living using the Barthel *** early physiotherapy,the level of consciousness and functional status improved significantly in groups 1,3,and 4;mobility improved significantly in all groups;and independence in activities of daily living improved significantly in groups 1 and *** discharge, groups 1 and 2 had better functional status than groups 3 and *** of consciousness,functional status,mobility and independence in activities of daily living improved after early physiotherapy. These findings suggest that early physiotherapy improved the prognosis of patients with cerebral aneurysms who were treated by surgical clipping or endovascular *** with a worse clinical status at presentation had a poorer functional status at *** outcome of physiotherapy was not affected by whether surgical clipping or endovascular embolization was chosen for treatment of the aneurysm.

Community structure of epiphytic algae on three different macrophytes at Acarlar floodplain forest(northern Turkey)

The aim of this study was to determine the species composition, biodiversity and, relative abundance of epiphytic algae and their relationship with environmental variables on three different macrophytes( Nymphaea alba, Ceratophyllum demersum, Typha latifolia) at Acarlar Floodplain Forest(AFF). Epiphytic algae were gathered monthly by collecting aquatic plants between November 2011 and October 2012, except in winter when there were no plants. In this study, 67 taxa on N. alba, 66 taxa on C. demersum and 66 taxa on T. latifolia were identified as epiphytic algae. The mean value of species richness was 17, that of diversity was 1.5 and that of evenness was 0.54 for epiphytic algae on N. alba, 17, 1.1, and 0.39 on C. demersum, and 18, 1.64, and 0.56 on T. latifolia, respectively. Oscillatoria sp. and Komvophoron crassum(Vozzen) Anagnostidis and Komárek were the most abundant and consistent epiphytic algal species, occurring in high abundance on all macrophytes. Results show that species composition of epiphytic algae was different, but diversity values were similar on all the macrophytes. The hydrological pulse is one of the most important factors determining the physical and chemical environment of the epiphytic algal community. However, substrate type also affected the colonization by F. capucina, O. sancta, P. catenata, and L. truncicola more than the epiphytic algal seasonality.

Fifty-one patients with mild （n -- 14）, moderate （n = 10） and severe traumatic brain injury （n = 27） received early rehabilitation. Level of consciousness was evaluated using the glasgow Coma Score Functional level was determined using the glasgow Outcome Score, whilst mobility was evaluated using the Mobility Scale for Acute Stroke. Activities of daily living were assessed using the Barthel Index. Following Bobath neurodevelopmental therapy, the level of consciousness was significantly improved in patients with moderate and severe traumatic brain injury, but was not greatly influenced in patients with mild traumatic brain injury. Mobility and functional level were significantly improved in patients with mild, moderate and severe traumatic brain injury. gait recovery was more obvious in patients with mild traumatic brain injury than in patients with moderate and severe traumatic brain injury. Activities of daily living showed an improvement but this was insignificant except for patients with severe traumatic brain injury. Nevertheless, complete recovery was not acquired at discharge. Multiple regression analysis showed that gait and glasgow Coma Scale scores can be considered predictors of functional outcomes following traumatic brain injury.

To investigate the effect of early rehabilitation on neurofunctional outcome after surgery in chil- dren with spinal tumors, this study reviewed the medical charts and radiographic records of 70 pediatric patients （1-17 years old） who received spinal tumor surgical removal. The peddiatric patients received rahabilitation treatment at 4 （range, 2-7） days after surgery for 10 （range, 7-23） days. Results from the Modified McCormick Scale, Functional Independence Measure for Chil- dren, American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale and Karnofsky Performance Status Scale demonstrated that the sensory function, motor function and activity of daily living of pedi- atric children who received early rehabilitation were significantly improved. Results also showed that tumor setting and level localization as well as patients＇s clinical symptoms have no influences on neurofunctional outcomes.
