Background:There is mounting evidence that regular physical activity is an important prerequisite for healthy cognitive ***,the finding that almost one-third of the adult population does not reach the recommended level of regular physical activity calls for further public health *** this context,digital and home-based physical training interventions might be a promising alternative to center-based intervention ***,this systematic review aimed to summarize the current state of the literature on the effects of digital and home-based physical training interventions on adult cognitive ***:In this pre-registered systematic review(PROSPERO;ID:CRD42022320031),5 electronic databases(Pubmed,Web of Science,Psyclnfo,SPORTDiscus,and Cochrane Library)were searched by 2 independent researchers(FH and PT)to identify eligible studies investigating the effects of digital and home-based physical training interventions on cognitive performance in *** systematic literature search yielded 8258 records(extra17 records from other sources),of which 27 controlled trials were considered *** reviewers(FH and PT)independently extracted data and assessed the risk of bias using a modified version of the Tool for the assEssment of Study qualiTy and reporting in EXercise(TESTEX scale).Results:Of the 27 reviewed studies,15 reported positive effects on cognitive and motor-cognitive outcomes(i.e.,performance improvements in measures of executive functions,working.memory,and choice stepping reaction test),and a considerable heterogeneity concerning study-related,population-related,and intervention-related characteristics was noticed.A more detailed analysis suggests that,in particular,interventions using online classes and technology-based exercise devices(i.e.,step-based exerg.mes)can improve cognitive performance in healthy older *** one-half of the reviewed studies were rated as having a high risk of bias with respect

multilayered plate elements with node-dependent kinematics for electro-mechanical problems

In the present work,a new class of finite elements(FEs)for the analysis of composite and sandwich plates embedding piezoelectric skins and patches is *** making use of node-by-node variable plate theory assumptions,the new finite element allows for the simultaneous analysis of different subregions of the problem domain with different kinematics and accuracy,in a global/local *** a consequence,the computational costs can be reduced drastically by assuming refined theories only in those zones/nodes of the structural domain where the resulting strain and stress states,and their electro-mechanical coupling present a complex *** primary advantage is that no ad-hoc techniques and mathematical artifices are required to mix the fields coming from two different and kinematically incompatible adjacent elements,because the plate structural theory varies within the finite element *** other words,the structural theory of the plate element is a property of the FE node in this present approach,and the continuity between two adjacent elements is ensured by adopting the same kinematics at the interface *** finite element arrays of the generic plate element are formulated in terms of fundamental nuclei,which are invariants of the theory approximation order and the modeling technique(Equivalent-Single-Layer,Layer-Wise).In this work,the attention is focused on the use of Legendre polynomial expansions to describe the through-the-thickness unknowns to develop advanced plate *** numerical investigations,such as composite and sandwich multilayered plates embedding piezoelectric skins and patches with various load,boundary conditions,and piezoelectric material polarizations,are carried out to validate and demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the present plate element,including comparison with various closed-form and FE solutions from the literature.

Water sorption thermodynamics in glassy polymers endowed with hydrogen bonding interactions

In this contribution, we review and critically compare the results of the analyses we have previously performed on water sorption thermodynamics in a series of polyimides. The experimental investigation was performed by combining gravimetric tests and in situ vibrational spectroscopy. A non-equilibrium theory, based on a compressible lattice framework accounting for the glassy state of the polymer and for the occurrence of hydrogen bonding interactions, has been used to interpret data. Information at a molecular level gained by vibrational spectroscopy has been used to tailor the model equations. The main features of water sorption thermodynamics are well captured, qualitatively and quantitatively, by the adopted model which displays a remarkable agreement with experimental results.

Based on the failure model of building structural steels under earthquake loading, the low cycle fatigue test at constant strain, the stochastical fatigue test under real earthquake load spectrum and the structural fatigue test are carried out. The experimental results show that microalloying of V Ti and Nb can improve the anti-seismic propersties of steel bars. In the high strain and shori life range, both the static strength and ductility of steels are very important to increasing the low cycle fatigue resistance of steels.

Control system design for a pressure-tube-type supercritical water-cooled nuclear reactor via a higher order sliding.mode method

Nuclear power plants exhibit non-linear and time-variable ***,designing a control system that sets the reactor power and forces it to follow the desired load is complicated.A supercritical water reactor(SCWR)is a fourth-generation conceptual *** an SCWR,the non-linear dynamics of the reactor require a controller capable of control-ling the *** this study,a pressure-tube-type SCWR was controlled during reactor power maneuvering with a higher order sliding.mode,and the reactor outgoing steam temperature and pressure were controlled *** an SCWR,the temperature,pressure,and power must be maintained at a setpoint(desired value)during power *** point kinetics equations with three groups of delayed neutrons were used in the ***-order and classic sliding.mode controllers were separately manufactured to control the plant and were compared with the PI controllers speci-fied in previous *** controlled parameters were reactor power,steam temperature,and ***,for these parameters,the PI controller had certain instabilities in the presence of *** classic sliding.mode controller had a higher accuracy and stability;however its main drawback was the chattering *** was highly accurate and stable and had a small computational *** reality,it followed the desired values without oscillations and chattering.
