It has been proved that when the retarded effect (or multiple moment effect) of radiation fields is taken into account,the high order stimulated radiation and stimulated absorption probabilities of light are not the same so that time reversal symmetry would be violated,though the Hamiltonian of electromagnetic interaction is still unchanged under time reversal. The reason to cause time reversal symmetry violation is that certain filial or partial transition processes of bound atoms are forbidden or cannot be achieved due to the law of energy conservation and the special states of atoms themselves. These restrictions would cause the symmetry violation of time reversal of other filial or partial transition processes which can be actualized really. The symmetry violation is also relative to the asymmetry of initial states of bound atoms before and after time reversal. For the electromagnetic interaction between non-bound atoms and radiation field,there is no such kind of symmetry violation of time reversal. In this way,the current formula on the parameters of stimulated radiation and absorption of light with time reversal sym-metry should be revised. A more reliable foundation can be established for the theories of laser and nonlinear optics in which non-equilibrium processes are in-volved.

The density functional theory （DFT） and periodic slab model were used to get information concerning the adsorption of HCHO on the FeO（100） surface. A preferred η^2-（C,O）-di-σ four-membered ring adsorption conformation on the Fe-top site was found to be the most favorable structure with the predicted adsorption energy of 210.7 kJ/mol. The analysis of density of states, Mulliken population, and vibrational frequencies before and after adsorption showed clear weakening of the carbonyl bond, and high sp^3 character on the carbon atom.

Nitriding is employed for the hard Fe electrodeposition to produce a hard-facing and antiwear coating. It only takes 1 h for the hard Fe coating, which is much shorter than nitriding the Fe and steel. The results showed that the nitriding can increase the microhardness, wear resistance of the coating, as well as the bonding strength of the coating with the substrate. Additionally it can eliminate the brittleness, turn the internal stress of the coating from tension to compression. The wear resistance of the nitrided Fe coating is 4.6 times as high as that of Cr coating. It is simple and economic to combine hard Fe electroplating and nitriding, which is a good technology of the tribological surface modification.

Catalytic chemiluminescence of over twenty metallic ions in the systemof 2, 6, 7-tihydroxyl-9- (4'-chlorophenyl)-3-fluorone (Cl-PF )-H2O2 has been *** amount of Co(Ⅱ) strong1y catalysed this chemiluminescence reaction, especiallyin presence of cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMAB), andthe chemiluminescence intensity was proportional to the concentraction of Co(Ⅱ) in therange 0. 5~6ng. ml-1 Co(Ⅱ). Two steps could be involved in the chemiluminescentreaction of C1-PF. In alkaline solution, the O2 radical ion should attack an oxygenbridge between the benzene rings of Cl-PF with break in oxygen bridge bond to produce reaction product which is excited by the energy derived from this chemical reaction. The electronic excited state emits the radiation(560 nm) on falling to the groundstate, followed by formation of polyphenol derivatives. the polyphenol derivatives arefurther oxidized to produce chemiluminescence (480 nm) which is due to emission fromsinglet oxygen.

Fuqing County of southeast China has witnessed significant land use changes during the last decade. Re mote sensing technology using multitemporal Landsat TM images was used to characterize land use types and to monitor land use changes in the county. Two TM scenes from 1991 and 1996 were used to cover the county and a five-year time period. Digital image processing was carried out for the remotely sensed data to produce classified images. The images were further processed using GIS software to generate GIS databases so that the data could be further spatially analyzed taking the advantages of the software. Land use change areas were determined by using the change detection technique. The comparison of the two classified TM images using the above technologies reveals that during the five study years, a large area of arable lands in the county has been lost and deforestation has taken place largely because of the dramatic in crease in built-up land and orchard. The conclusive statistical information is useful to understand the processes, causes and impacts of the land use changes in the county. The major driving force to the land use changes in the county ap peared to be the rapid economic development. The decision makers of the county have to pay more attention to the land use changes for the county’s sustainable development.

The geometries, electronic structures of pure carbon clusters were investigated in the range of C 3 to C 6 size. To obtain accurate results, the STO double zeta basis sets with a polarization function are selected. The main focuses are on the new geometry, electronic structures of carbon clusters, such as the three dimensional structure for C 4, C 5 and so on. The clusters are found to have more isomers corresponding to different geometries and spin multiplicities close to their ground states. We find that the spin multiplicity of the ground state or close to ground state of odd numbered linear chain is 1. But in even numbered linear chains, the spin multiplicity is 3. In odd numbered cyclic structure without branch chain, the spin multiplicity of the ground state or close ground state is 3, and that of even numbered is 1. But the three dimensional structure disagree those principles.
