Adsorption Characteristics of Congo Red Dye onto Calcinated Mytilus edulis Shell Powders

Dye wastewater poses a significant threat to aquatic organisms due to its high toxicity. Reducing or eliminating the dye waste from the water is necessary for a healthy and sustainable aquaculture. This study investigated the adsorption properties of Congo red dye on Mytilus edulis shell powders prepared by calcination at 500℃, 700℃, and 900℃. The modified shell powder products were analyzed by SEM（scanning eletron microscopy） and FTIR（fourier transform infrared spectroscopy） for the morphology and structural characterization. The effects of different calcination temperatures, reaction times, reaction temperatures, and initial concentration of Congo red on the adsorption properties were investigated. The adsorption kinetics and isothermal adsorption models were also established. The results revealed that the shell powder calcinated at 900℃ showed the best adsorption capacity on Congo red from aqueous solution. The adsorption reaction reached equilibrium after 150 min and followed by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. At 25℃, 96.2% of the Congo red in the solution could be removed, and the adsorption capacity could reach at least 1015 mg g–1. The adsorption isotherm is fit with the Freundlich model, indicating a multiphase adsorption process. These results are helpful for cleaning and treating printing and dyeing effluents as well as high-value utilization of shell waste resources.

Abscisic acid(ABA) plays a key role in promoting the growth and development of plants, as well as mediating the responses of plants to adverse environmental conditions. Here, we measured the photosynthetic capacity of wild-type RR, mutant sitiens(sit), and ABA-pretreated sit tomato seedlings following exposure to low-temperature(LT) stress. We found that the net photosynthetic rate, intercellular carbon dioxide concentration,transpiration rate, and stomatal conductance of sit seedlings were lower than those of RR seedlings under LT stress. The chloroplast width, area, and number of osmiophilic granules were significantly larger in sit seedlings than in RR seedlings, while the chloroplast length/width ratio was significantly lower in sit seedlings than in RR seedlings. The photochemical activity of sit seedlings was lower, and the expression of photosynthesis-related genes in sit seedlings was altered following exposure to LT stress. ABA pretreatment significantly alleviated the above phenomenon. We also conducted an RNA sequencing analysis and characterized the expression patterns of genes in tomato seedlings following exposure to LT stress. We constructed 15 cDNA libraries and identified several differentially expressed genes involved in photosynthesis,plant hormone signaling transduction, and primary and secondary metabolism. Additional analyses of genes encoding transcription factors and proteins involved in photosynthesis-related processes showed pronounced changes in expression under LT stress. Luciferase reporter assay and electrophoretic mobility shift assay revealed that WRKY22 regulates the expression of PsbA. The PSII of WRKY22 and PsbA-silenced plants was inhibited. Our findings indicate that ABA plays a role in regulating the process of photosynthesis and protecting PSII in tomato under LT stress through the WRKY22–PsbA complex.

Permanently shadowed regions(PSRs)on the Moon are potential reservoirs for water ice,making them hot spots for future lunar *** water ice in PSRs would cause distinctive changes in space weathering there,in particular reduction-oxidation processes that diff er from those in illuminated *** determine the characteristics of products formed during space weathering in PSRs,the lunar meteorite NWA 10203 with artifi cially added water was irradiated with a nanosecond laser to simulate a micro-meteorite bombardment of lunar soil containing water *** TEM results of the water-incorporated sample showed distinct amorphous rims that exhibited irregular thickness,poor stratifi cation,the appearance of bubbles,and a reduced number of npFe^(0).Additionally,EELS analysis showed the presence of ferric iron at the rim of the nanophase metallic iron particles(npFe^(0))in the amorphous rim with the involvement of *** results suggest that water ice is another possible factor contributing to oxidation during micrometeorite bombardment on the lunar *** addition,it off ers a reference for a new space weathering model that incorporates water in PSRs,which could be widespread on asteroids with volatiles.

Residual symmetry and interactions between solitons and periodic waves of the Drinfeld–Sokolov–Satsuma–Hirota system

In this paper, the Drinfeld–Sokolov–Satsuma–Hirota(DSSH) system is studied by using residual symmetry and the consistent Riccati expansion(CRE) method, respectively. The residual symmetry of the DSSH system is localized to lie point symmetry in a properly prolonged system, based on which we get a new B?cklund transformation for this system. New symmetry reduction solutions of the DSSH system are obtained by applying the classical lie group approach on the prolonged system. Moreover, the DSSH system proves to be CRE integrable and new interesting interaction solutions between solitons and periodic waves are generated and analyzed.

Heavy metal stress strengthens the stability and complexity of microbial molecular ecological networks in Sanyang wetland sediments

An efficient and accurate numerical method for simulating close-range blast loads of cylindrical charges based on neural network

To address the problems of low accuracy by the CONWEP model and poor efficiency by the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian（CEL） method in predicting close-range air blast loads of cylindrical charges, a neural network-based simulation（NNS） method with higher accuracy and better efficiency was proposed. The NNS method consisted of three main steps. First, the parameters of blast loads, including the peak pressures and impulses of cylindrical charges with different aspect ratios（L/D） at different stand-off distances and incident angles were obtained by two-dimensional numerical simulations. Subsequently, incident shape factors of cylindrical charges with arbitrary aspect ratios were predicted by a neural network. Finally, reflected shape factors were derived and implemented into the subroutine of the ABAQUS code to modify the CONWEP model, including modifications of impulse and overpressure. The reliability of the proposed NNS method was verified by related experimental results. Remarkable accuracy improvement was acquired by the proposed NNS method compared with the unmodified CONWEP model. Moreover, huge efficiency superiority was obtained by the proposed NNS method compared with the CEL method. The proposed NNS method showed good accuracy when the scaled distance was greater than 0.2 m/kg1/3. It should be noted that there is no need to generate a new dataset again since the blast loads satisfy the similarity law, and the proposed NNS method can be directly used to simulate the blast loads generated by different cylindrical charges. The proposed NNS method with high efficiency and accuracy can be used as an effective method to analyze the dynamic response of structures under blast loads, and it has significant application prospects in designing protective structures.

Selective activation of dioxygen to singlet oxygen over La-Si co-doped TiO_(2)microspheres for photocatalytic degradation of formaldehyde

Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs)are highly harmful to human beings and other organisms,and thus the elimination of VOCs is extremely ***,La-Si co-doped TiO_(2)microsphere photocatalysts,which were prepared by a hydrothermal method,exhibited high photocatalytic activity in the decomposition of formaldehyde compared with TiO_(2).The improved activity can be attributed to the promoted separation efficiency and density of the charge carriers,as verified by the electrochemical results in combination with density functional theory *** addition,the Si dopant changed the microstructure and surface acidity,while the addition of La promoted the separation efficiency of charge *** interestingly,it was found that singlet oxygen was the key species in the activation of molecular dioxygen,and it played a pivotal role in the photocatalytic decomposition of *** work provides a novel strategy for the selective activation of dioxygen for use in the decomposition of formaldehyde.
