Stability of the Fe12O12 cluster

Superexchange effects play an important role in the determination of crystal structures; however, there has been much less reported on how they determine the stability of dusters. Using evolutionary search strategies and DFT＋U （density functional theory with the Hubbard U correction） calculations, we investigate the global minimum-energy structures of Fe12O12 clusters. Among predicted Fe12O12 dusters, a cage-shaped Fe12O12 cluster with unexpected stability was observed. In addition, the bare Fe12O12 cluster is shown to possess an extremely large energy gap （2.00 eV）, which is greater than that of C60, Au20 and Al13- clusters. Using a Heisenberg model, we traced the origin of the unexpected stability of the bare Fe12O12 cluster to magnetic competition between the nearestneighbor exchange constant h and the next-nearest neighbor exchange constant J2 that was induced by the superexchange interactions. The bare Fe12O12 cluster is thus a unique molecule that is stable and chemically inert.

Deciphering the role of ultra-low-loaded rhodium in NiFe-MIL-53 for superior oxygen evolution reaction

Designing highly active and stable electrocatalysts of oxygen evolution reaction （OER） is one of the crucial *** this study,a novel OER electrocatalyst,NiFe-MIL-53 modified with ultra-low rhodium（Rh@NiFe-MIL-53）,is successfully prepared via the hydrothermal ***-situ Raman spectroscopy and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy reveal that the doped Rh accelerates the phase transformation of NiFe-MIL-53 and the in-situ formed Rh@NiFeOOH is the actual active *** importantly,the enhanced reversibility of electrochemical reconstruction between NiFeOOH and NiFe（OH）2after doping Rh is beneficial for improving the electrochemical stability of the catalyst.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy spectra show the strong electronic interaction between single-atom Rh and Ni/Fe in Rh@***,theoretical calculations confirm that the integration of single-atom Rh into the NiFeOOH successfully reduces the band gap,regulates the d-band center （εd）,accelerates the charge transfer,and optimizes the adsorption behavior of oxygen-containing intermediates,thereby lowering the energy barrier of rate-determining ***,the optimized Rh@NiFe-MIL-53 exhibits excellent OER activity （240 mV） with a small Tafel slope of 48.2 mV dec-1and long-term durability (over1270 h at 10 m A cm-2and 110 h at 200 mA cm-2).This work presents a new perspective on designing highly efficient OER electrocatalysts.

Inhibition Effects of CH_(4)/CH_(3)OH on Dimethyl Ether Cool Flames

CH_(4)/DME mixtures can be used for engines and gas turbines,and have already been studied for many ***,DME has a strong cool flame phenomenon,which will greatly influence the ignition and combustion characteristics of following hot ***,the cool flame characteristics of CH_(4)/DME mixture are very important for their ***,the inhibition effect of CH_(4)on DME cool flames has been discovered,but the mechanisms of the inhibition effects lack further verification and *** this study,the inhibition effects were investigated via both experiments and *** order to validate the inhibition effects,a comparison fuel of CH_(3)OH/DME was also used in this *** extinction limits,flame temperatures and combustion products of the cool flames of the CH_(4)/DME and CH_(3)OH/DME mixtures were measured using a counterflow burner,and the reaction paths and heat release rate were derived from the *** results indicate that CH_(4)and CH_(3)OH will both inhibit the cool flame of DME via competing with DME for OH and O radicals,and CH_(3)OH has stronger inhibition effects than CH_(4),because it is more competitive and produces more CH2O,which inhibits the oxidation of *** HPMech-v3.3 closely agrees with the experimental data,but still needs to be improved.

This work presents an optimal design method of antenna aperture illumination for microwave power transmission with an annular collection *** objective is to maximize the ratio of the power radiated on the annular collection area to the total transmitted *** formulating the aperture amplitude distribution through a summation of a special set of series,the optimal design problem can be reduced to finding the maximum ratio of two real quadratic *** on the theory of matrices,the solution to the formulated optimization problem is to determine the largest characteristic value and its associated characteristic *** meet security requirements,the peak radiation levels outside the receiving area are considered to be extra constraints.A hybrid grey wolf optimizer and Nelder–Mead simplex method is developed to deal with this constrained optimization *** order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method,numerical experiments on continuous apertures are conducted;then,discrete arrays of isotropic elements are employed to validate the correctness of the optimized ***,patch arrays are adopted to further verify the validity of the proposed method.

Substructure design optimization and nonlinear responses control analysis of the mega-sub controlled structural system (MSCSS) under earthquake action

The newly proposed mega sub-controlled structure system(MSCSS)and related studies have drawn the attention of civil engineers for practice in improving the performance and enhancing the structural effectiveness of mega frame ***,there is still a need for improvement to its basic structural *** this project,an advanced,reasonable arrangement of mega sub-controlled structure models,composed of three mega stories with different numbers and arrangements of substructures,are designed to investigate the control performance of the models and obtain the optimal model configuration(model with minimum acceleration and displacement responses)under strong earthquake *** addition,the dynamic parameters that affect the performance effectiveness of the optimal model of MSCSS are studied and *** area of the relative stiffness ratio RD,with different mass ratio MR,within which the acceleration and displacement of the optimal model of MSCSS reaches its optimum(minimum)value is considered as an optimum *** serves as a useful tool in practical engineering *** study demonstrates that the proposed MSCSS configuration can efficiently control the displacement and acceleration of high rise *** addition,some analytical guidelines are provided for selecting the control parameters of the structure.

Isospin effects on intermediate mass fragments at intermediate energy-heavy ion collisions

In this study,we investigated the isospin properties of intermediate mass fragments(IMFs)for the central collisions of^(112,124)Sn+^(112,124)Sn at a beam energy of50 MeV per nucleon using an improved quantum molecular dynamics model(ImQMD)coupled with a sequential decay model(GEMINI).Three observables were analyzed:(1)the average center-of-mass kinetic energy per nucleonof fragments as a function of their charge number Z;(2)the average neutron number to proton number ratio(/Z)of fragments with a given charge number Z as a function of their center-of-mass kinetic energy per nucleon(Ec.m./A);and(3)the average total neutron number to total proton number ratio(ΣN/ΣZ)and double ratio(DR(N/Z))of IMFs with Z=3-8 as a function of their center-of-mass kinetic energy per nucleon Ec.m./*** calculations revealed that the sensitivity of the isospin properties of IMFs relative to the stiffness of the symmetry energy remains even after sequential *** comparing the calculations ofΣN/ΣZ and DR(N/Z)with the data,it was found that the soft symmetry energy,i.e.,γ=0.5,is favored.

In patients with Alzheimer’s disease,gamma-glutamyl transferase 5(GGT5)expression has been observed to be downregulated in cerebrovascular endothelial ***,the functional role of GGT5 in the development of Alzheimer’s disease remains *** study aimed to explore the effect of GGT5 on cognitive function and brain pathology in an APP/PS1 mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease,as well as the underlying *** observed a significant reduction in GGT5 expression in two in vitro models of Alzheimer’s disease(Aβ_(1-42)-treated hCMEC/D3 and bEnd.3 cells),as well as in the APP/PS1 mouse ***,injection of APP/PS1 mice with an adeno-associated virus encoding GGT5 enhanced hippocampal synaptic plasticity and mitigated cognitive ***,increasing GGT5 expression in cerebrovascular endothelial cells reduced levels of both soluble and insoluble amyloid-βin the brains of APP/PS1 *** effect may be attributable to inhibition of the expression ofβ-site APP cleaving enzyme 1,which is mediated by nuclear factor-kappa *** findings demonstrate that GGT5 expression in cerebrovascular endothelial cells is inversely associated with Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis,and that GGT5 upregulation mitigates cognitive deficits in APP/PS1 *** findings suggest that GGT5 expression in cerebrovascular endothelial cells is a potential therapeutic target and biomarker for Alzheimer’s disease.
