Analysis of chronic kidney disease staging with different estimated glomerular filtration rate equations in Chinese centenarians

Background: Accurate estimation of the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and staging of chronic kidney disease (CKD) are important. Currently, there is no research on the differences in several estimated GFR equations for staging CKD in a large sample of centenarians. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the differences in CKD staging with the most commonly used equations and to analyze sources of discrepancy. Methods: A total of 966 centenarians were enrolled in this study from June 2014 to December 2016 in Hainan province, China. The GFR with the Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD), Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration (CKD-EPI) and Berlin Initiative Study 1 (BIS1) equations were estimated. Agreement between these equations was investigated with the k statistic and Bland-Altman plots. Sources of discrepancy were investigated by partial correlation analysis. Results: The k values of the MDRD and CKD-EPI equations, MDRD and BIS1 equations, and CKD-EPI and BIS1 equations were 0.610, 0.253, and 0.381, respectively. Serum creatinine (Scr) explained 10.96%, 41.60% and 17.06% of the variability in these three comparisons, respectively. Serum uric acid (SUA) explained 3.65% and 5.43% of the variability in the first 2 comparisons, respectively. Gender was associated with significant differences in these 3 comparisons (Pfuture.

Postnatal development of rat retina:a continuous observation and comparison between the organotypic retinal explant model and in vivo development

The organotypic retinal explant culture has been established for more than a decade and offers a range of unique advantages compared with in vivo experiments and cell ***,the lack of systematic and continuous comparison between in vivo retinal development and the organotypic retinal explant culture makes this model controversial in postnatal retinal development ***,we aimed to verify the feasibility of using this model for postnatal retinal development studies by comparing it with the in vivo *** this study,we showed that postnatal retinal explants undergo normal development,and exhibit a consistent structure and timeline with retinas in ***,we used SOX2 and PAX6 immunostaining to identify retinal progenitor *** then examined cell proliferation and migration by immunostaining with Ki-67 and doublecortin,***-67-and doublecortin-positive cells decreased in both in vivo and explants during postnatal retinogenesis,and exhibited a high degree of similarity in abundance and distribution between ***,we used Ceh-10 homeodomain-containing homolog,glutamate-ammonia ligase(glutamine synthetase),neuronal nuclei,and ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1 immunostaining to examine the emergence of bipolar cells,Müller glia,mature neurons,and microglia,*** timing and spatial patterns of the emergence of these cell types were remarkably consistent between in vivo and explant *** study showed that the organotypic retinal explant culture model had a high degree of consistency with the progression of in vivo early postnatal retina *** findings confirm the accuracy and credibility of this model and support its use for long-term,systematic,and continuous observation.

Encapsulating perovskite quantum dots into 3D COF for visible light-driven CO2 reduction

Lead halide perovskite quantum dots（LHP QDs） have been revealed to possess great potential in photocatalytic applications including CO2reduction, which however suffer from poor stability. Herein, a high crystalline hydrazine-linked three-dimensional（3D） covalent organic framework, USTB-17, was fabricated from the reaction between 12-connected building block and 4-connected 3,5,7-tetrakis（4-aldophenyl）-adamantane. Post-modification with Ni2+affords the metallic framework USTB-17（Ni）followed by sequential deposition of the CH3NH2PbI3（MAPbI3） perovskite QDs into its pores, generating the USTB-17（Ni）@MAPbI3composite. Powder X-ray diffraction analysis together with theoretical simulations and transmission electron microscopy discloses the crystalline nature of USTB-17, USTB-17（Ni）, and USTB-17（Ni）@MAPbI3with an unprecedented noninterpenetrated hpt topology. The close contact of QDs inside the COF pores with the Ni catalytic site locating at the pore surface of COF allows a rapid transfer of the photogenerated electrons in QDs to the Ni catalytic sites, enhancing the photocatalytic activity for CO2reduction. This endows USTB-17（Ni）@MAPbI3with efficient photocatalysis performance for photocatalytic CO2reduction with CO generation rate of 365 μmol g-1h-1and CO selectivity up to 96% under visible-light irradiation, 7 times higher than that of USTB-17（Ni）. After four cycles of reactions, the photocatalytic CO generation rate remains almost unchanged, demonstrating its excellent cycle stability.

The deleterious effects and potential therapeutic strategy of fluorene-9-bisphenol on circadian activity and liver diseases in zebrafish and mice

Bimetallic anchoring catalysis for C–H and C–C activation

The cryo-electron microscopy(cryo-EM)is one of the most powerful technologies available today for structural *** RELION(Regularized Likelihood Optimization)implements a Bayesian algorithm for cryo-EM structure determination,which is one of the most widely used software in this *** researchers have devoted effort to improve the performance of RELION to satisfy the analysis for the ever-increasing volume of *** this paper,we focus on performance analysis of the most time-consuming computation steps in RELION and identify their performance bottlenecks for specific *** propose several performance optimization strategies to improve the overall performance of RELION,including optimization of expectation step,parallelization of maximization step,accelerating the computation of symmetries,and memory affinity *** experiment results show that our proposed optimizations achieve significant speedups of RELION across representative *** addition,we perform roofline model analysis to understand the effectiveness of our optimizations.

Asymptotics for Certain Harmonic functions and the Martin Compactification on the Quaternionic Heisenberg Group

In this paper, we make the asymptotic estimates of the heat kernel for the quaternionic Heisenberg group in various cases. We also use these results to deduce the asymptotic estimates of certain harmonic functions on the quaternionic Heisenberg group. Moreover a Martin compactification of the quaternionic Heisenberg group is constructed, and we prove that the Martin boundary of this group is homeomorphic to the unit ball in the quaternionic field.
