Primary hepatic angiosarcoma manifesting as hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome:A case report

BACKGROUND Primary hepatic angiosarcoma(Pha)is a rare malignancy with a poor *** is difficult to diagnose Pha because of the lack of specific symptoms or tumour markers,and it rapidly progresses and has a high *** our knowledge,Pha has not been reported to mimic hepatic sinusoidal obstruction ***,we present a case of Pha manifesting as hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome,diagnosed using transjugular liver biopsy,that resulted in the death of the *** SUMMARY A 71-year-old man was admitted with the primary complaint of abdominal distension,decreased appetite,fatigue in the previous month,and loss of 10 kg of weight in the past 2 *** the liver and spleen were enlarged,and the liver had a medium-hard texture on *** examinations were performed,and abdominal plain computed tomography(CT)and contrastenhanced CT showed hepatomegaly and splenomegaly,as well as diffuse lowdensity shadows distributed in the liver and ***-enhanced CT revealed diffuse,hypodense,nodular or flake shadows in the liver and heterogeneous enhancement in the spleen.A transjugular liver biopsy was *** on the pathology results,the patient was diagnosed with hepatic sinusoidal obstruction syndrome secondary to *** patient’s status further deteriorated and he developed serious hepatic *** patient was discharged,and died 3 d *** Pha is rare and has a poor prognosis;however,transjugular liver biopsy can be safely performed to aid in diagnosis.

Improvements in early screening,new diagnostic techniques,and surgical treatment have led to continuous downward trends in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)morbidity and mortality ***,high recurrence and refractory cancer after hepatectomy remain important factors affecting the long-term prognosis of *** clinical characteristics and prognosis of recurrent HCC are heterogeneous,and guidelines on treatment strategies for recurrent HCC are *** such as surgical resection,radiofrequency ablation,and transhepatic arterial chemoembolization are effective for tumors confined to the liver,and targeted therapy is a very important treatment for unresectable recurrent HCC with systemic *** the deepening of the understanding of the immune microenvironment of HCC,blocking immune checkpoints to enhance the antitumor immune response has become a new direction for the treatment of *** addition,improvements in the tumor immune microenvironment caused by local treatment may provide an opportunity to improve the therapeutic effect of HCC *** and future clinical trial data of combined therapy may develop the new treatment scheme for recurrent *** paper reviews the pattern of recurrent HCC and the characteristics of the immune microenvironment,demonstrates the basis for combining local treatment and systemic treatment,and reports current evidence to better understand current progress and future approaches in the treatment of recurrent HCC.

Wound Healing Assay Using Microfluidic Channels

An approach was described to produce a wound area in vitro using laminar flow technique to selectively remove cells in micro fluidic channels. Cell migration which plays an important role in the process of wound healing can be observed dynamically by this method. In order to prove our system, we have studied its properties by injecting NIH-3T3 cells into main channel and added several reagents to observe the mediatory influence. The results reveal that fibroblast growth factor-2（FGF-2）, insulin-like growth factor 1（IGF-Ⅰ）, platelet-derived growth factor BB（PDGF-BB） and ascorbic acid（Vc） groups can promote cell migration compared with the control group. But the average migration distance was diminished in dexamethasone group. It can be concluded that this system can be used to analyze the process of wound healing.

Objective Cancer is a serious threat to human health. Despite extensive research on cancer treatment,there is a growing demand for new therapies. CD147 is widely involved in tumor development, but it is unclear whether cancer cell malignancy is affected by CD147 expression level. The first compound(AC-73) targeting CD147 could only act on advanced tumors and inhibit metastasis. Therefore, new compounds with better anticancer activity should be *** Wst-1 assays were used to confirm the effect of novel compounds on *** tests were used to evaluate their proapoptotic capacity. A nude mouse model was used to demonstrate in vivo anticancer activity and safety of the compounds. Western blots were used to suggest a molecule *** There is a positive correlation between CD147 expression and tumor cell proliferation. A new compound, ha-08, was synthesized and proved to be more active than AC-73. ha-08 could inhibit cancer cell viability and promote cancer cell apoptosis both in vitro and in vivo. ha-08 induces cancer apoptosis, mainly by disrupting the CD147-CD44 interaction and then down-regulating the JAK/STAT3/Bcl-2 signaling *** Our results have clarified the tumor specificity of CD147 and its drug target *** biological profile of ha-08 suggests that this compound could be developed as a potential anticancer agent.

Effects of sowing date and ecological points on yield and the temperature and radiation resources of semi-winter wheat

Exploring the effects of sowing date and ecological points on the yield of semi-winter wheat is of great *** study aims to reveal the effects of sowing date and ecological points on the climate resources associated with wheat yield in the Rice–Wheat Rotation *** six sowing dates,the experiments were carried out in Donghai and Jianhu counties,Jiangsu Province,China using two semi-winter wheat varieties as the objects of this *** basic seedlings of the first sowing date (S1) were planted at 300×10^(4)plants ha^(-1),which was increased by 10%for each of the delayed sowing dates (S2–S6).The results showed that the delay of sowing date decreased the number of days,the effective accumulated temperature and the cumulative solar radiation in the whole growth *** yields of S1 were higher than those of S2 to S6 by 0.22–0.31,0.5–0.78,0.86–0.98,1.14–1.38,and 1.36–1.59 t ha^(–1),*** a given sowing date,the growth days increased as the ecological point was moved north,while both mean daily temperature and effective accumulative temperature decreased,but the cumulative radiation *** a result,the yields at Donghai County were 0.01–0.39 t ha–1lower than those of Jianhu County for the six sowing *** effective accumulative temperature and cumulative radiation both had significant positive correlations with *** average temperature was significantly negatively correlated with the *** decrease in grain yield was mainly due to the declines in grains per spike and 1 000-grain weight caused by the increase in the daily temperature and the decrease in the effective accumulative temperature.

Snowstorm over the Southwestern Coast of the Korean Peninsula Associated with the Development of Mesocyclone over the Yellow Sea

This study investigates the characteristics of a heavy snowfall event over the southwestern part of the Korean Peninsula on 4 December 2005. The snowstorm was a type of mesoscale maritime cyclone which resulted from barotropic instability, and diabatic heating from the warm ocean in continental polar air masses. Based on surface observations, radiosonde soundings, MTSAT-1R satellite data and the 10-km grid RDAPS （Regional Assimilation and Prediction System based on the PSU/NCAR MM5） data, the evolution of the mesocyclone is explained by the following dynamics; （1） In the initial stage, the primary role in the cyclogenesis process of the mesocyclone is a barotropic instability in the horizontal shear zone. （2） In the developing stage, the mesocyclone moves and deepens into a baroclinic zone corresponding to the surface heating and moistening. （3） In the mature stage, it is found that the mesocyclone is intensified by the destabilization caused by enhanced low-level heating and condensation, the moisture flux convergence, and the interaction between upper and lower-level potential vorticity anomalies. We suggest that a checklist with stepwise indicators responsible for development be prepared for the forecasting of heavy snowfall over the southwestern part of the Korean Peninsula.

Graft-verse-host disease after liver transplantation:A report of two cases and review of literature

Graft-verse-host disease (GVHD) is an uncommon fatal complication following liver transplantation (LTx). In China's Mainland, only six cases have been reported with a morbidity rate up to 1%-2%. Definitive diagnosis was achieved by molecular techniques (HLA typing or PCR-STR) in only two cases and the remaining cases were diagnosed based on typical clinical features with exclusion of other possible causes. All patients died of septic shock or multiple organ failure even after administration of increased corticosteroids and supportive therapy, and reduced immunosuppressive agents. In our center, two cases of GVHD were found among 128 (1.56%) patients. One case was diagnosed by detecting lymphocyte macrochimerism through DNA-STR. Both of them died even after aggressive treatment. In China, the incidence of GVHD is similar to that reported by foreign centers except for an extremely bad prognosis. Rapid diagnosis is crucial for a better prognosis. In China, only 37.5% of cases are diagnosed by molecular methods. We recommend detecting lymphocyte macrochimerism through DNA-STR to get a rapid diagnosis, and interleukin 2-receptor antibody (basiliximab or daclizumab) therapy seems to be a good choice for the disease.
