Forest gaps regulate seed germination rate and radicle growth of an endangered plant species in a subtropical natural forest

The survival rate of Castanopsis kawakamii from seed to seedling is relatively low,leading to difficulties in the regeneration of its natural *** gaps play a vital role in plant regeneration and biodiversity maintenance in forest ***,our understanding of the effects of gap size and within-gap position on the seed germination and radicle growth of *** is still *** particular,our knowledge on the relationship between gap size and environmental factors and their influence on seed germination and radicle growth is *** the present study,we studied the influences of forest gaps and within-gap position on seed regeneration on the germination and radicle growth of an endangered species *** in a subtropical natural forest in *** selected three large gaps(LG,gap size above 200 m^(2)),three medium gaps(MG,gap size 50-100 m^(2)),three small gaps(SG,gap size 30-50 m^(2)),and non-gap(NG),and planted the seeds of *** in five positions within each *** results showed that(1)the influence of forest gaps on seed germination rate was,from highest to lowest,medium gaps(51%),non-gap(47%),small gaps(40%)and large gaps(17%),and the seed germination rate was the highest in all positions in medium gaps,with the exception of the east position.(2)Radicle length in forest gaps was,from highest to lowest,medium gaps,small gaps,large gaps and non-gap,and it was the highest in the east,south,west and north positions of medium gaps.(3)Canopy openness(gap size)and air temperature were the main factors influencing seed germination and radicle growth of *** concluded that medium-sized gaps were the most suitable for seed germination and radicle growth of ***,and they promote the regeneration of this endangered species in the investigated natural forest.

Housing vacancy identification in shrinking cities based on multi-source data:A case study of fushun city in Northeast China

Urban shrinkage has attracted the attention of many geographers and urban planners in recent ***,there are fewer studies on vacant housing in shrinking ***,this study combines multi-source remote sensing images and urban building data to assess the spatiotemporal variation patterns of housing vacancy in a typical shrinking city in *** following points were obtained:(1)We developed an evaluation model to identify vacant residential buildings in shrinking cities by removing the contribution of nighttime lights from roads and non-residential buildings;(2)The residential building vacancy rate in fushun city significantly increased from 2013 to 2020,resulting in a significant high-value clustering *** impact of urban shrinkage on vacant residential buildings was higher than that on vacant non-residential buildings;(3)The World Pop population data demonstrated consistent spatial distribution and trend of population change in fushun with the residential building vacancy rate results,suggesting good reliability of the constructed evaluation model in this *** housing vacancies can help the local government to raise awareness of the housing vacancy problem in shrinking cities and to propose reasonable renewal strategies.

目的:探讨并评价在评估冠心病心力衰竭患者疾病严重程度方面,借助心脏彩超结合心电图的准确性及价值。方法:纳入2020年6月~2023年6月本院接诊的120例冠心病心力衰竭患者,分组严格根据纽约心脏病协会(NYHA)心功能分级标准,分别设Ⅱ级组、Ⅲ级组、Ⅳ级组;均给予心电图、心脏彩超检查。结果:①心电图检查结果分析:心功能Ⅳ级的患者,QRS电压明显低于Ⅱ级、Ⅲ级患者;心功能Ⅱ级的患者,QRS时限、QTs间期短于Ⅲ级、Ⅳ级患者(P<0.05);②心脏彩超检查结果分析:Ⅱ级患者的LVESD、LVEDD、LAD以及E/A低于Ⅲ级、Ⅳ级患者(P<0.05);但Ⅳ级患者的LVEF明显低于Ⅱ级、Ⅲ级患者(P<0.05);③相关性分析发现,与心功能成正相关的因素,分别为QRS时限、QTc间期、LVESD、LVEDD、LAD、E/A。而QRS电压、LVEF与心功能之间呈现负相关关系。结论:在冠心病心力衰竭患者病情严重程度的评估中,心电图联合心脏彩超检查价值较高。

Logit prototype learning with active multimodal representation for robust open-set recognition

Robust open-set recognition(OSR) performance has become a prerequisite for pattern recognition systems in real-world applications. However, the existing OSR methods are primarily implemented on the basis of single-modal perception, and their performance is limited when single-modal data fail to provide sufficient descriptions of the objects. Although multimodal data can provide more comprehensive information than single-modal data, the learning of decision boundaries can be affected by the feature representation gap between different modalities. To effectively integrate multimodal data for robust OSR performance, we propose logit prototype learning(LPL) with active multimodal representation. In LPL, the input multimodal data are transformed into the logit space, enabling a direct exploration of intermodal correlations without the impact of scale inconsistency. Then, the fusion weights of each modality are determined using an entropybased uncertainty estimation method. This approach realizes adaptive adjustment of the fusion strategy to provide comprehensive descriptions in the presence of external disturbances. Moreover, the single-modal and multimodal representations are jointly optimized interactively to learn discriminative decision ***, a stepwise recognition rule is employed to reduce the misclassification risk and facilitate the distinction between known and unknown classes. Extensive experiments on three multimodal datasets have been done to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Large-scale toppling slope under water level fluctuation of reservoir:A case of Yunnan Province,China

Landslides induced by reservoir inundation are common in Southwest China,negatively influencing hydropower *** hydropower station dam was constructed in the upper reaches of the Lancang River,accordingly causing the water level at the Lajinshengu slope to increase by 30 m.A tension crack with a visible depth of 8 m was observed in the upper sector of the Lajinshengu slope after reservoir impoundment for 170 *** the following days,numerous cracks appeared on the surface of the slope,and the maximum displacement of the slope reached 3.22 ***,a large-scale active deformation body within the Lajinshengu slope formed with an area of 2.62×10^(5)m^(2)and a volume of 1.65×10^(7)m^(3).Detailed field investigations,on-site monitoring,and centrifugal model tests were carried out to analyze the surface features,deformation characteristics,and failure mechanism of the Lajinshengu *** results show that the slope is an ancient landslide,divided into two parts(*** A and zone B)by the *** B is a traction landslide caused by the displacement of zone *** longterm inundation weakens the soft rock at the slope foot,intensifying the toppling of bedrock and consequently triggering the sliding of the overburden in zone *** failure mode of the Lajinshengu slope is a typical case of toppling-sliding failure,and the underlying rock toppling drives the overlying *** addition,early identification methods for toppling deformation covered by overburdened soil were proposed based on monitoring data and deformation signs.

Low-Complexity Reconstruction of Covariance Matrix in Hybrid Uniform Circular Array

Spatial covariance matrix(SCM) is essential in many multi-antenna systems such as massive multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO). For multi-antenna systems operating at millimeter-wave bands, hybrid analog-digital structure has been widely adopted to reduce the cost of radio frequency *** this situation, signals received at the antennas are unavailable to the digital receiver, and as a consequence, traditional sample average approach cannot be used for SCM reconstruction in hybrid multi-antenna systems. To address this issue, beam sweeping algorithm(BSA) which can reconstruct the SCM effectively for a hybrid uniform linear array, has been proposed in our previous works. However, direct extension of BSA to a hybrid uniform circular array(UCA)will result in a huge computational burden. To this end, a low-complexity approach is proposed in this paper. By exploiting the symmetry features of SCM for the UCA, the number of unknowns can be reduced significantly and thus the complexity of reconstruction can be saved accordingly. furthermore, an insightful analysis is also presented in this paper, showing that the reduction of the number of unknowns can also improve the accuracy of the reconstructed SCM. Simulation results are also shown to demonstrate the proposed approach.
