Collision Tectonics between the Tarim Block(Basin)and the Northwestern Tibet Plateau:New Observations from a Multidisciplinary Geoscientific Investigation in the Western Kunlun Mountains

New results from deep seismic reflection profiling, wide-angle reflection-refraction profiling and broadband seismic experiments reveal that a series of south-dipping reflectors occur on the southern margin of the Tarim block (basin). However, it is these south-dipping structures that are intercepted by another series of north-dipping reflectors at depths from 30 to about 150 km beneath the foreland of the W Kunlun Mountains. No evidence from the above geophysical data as well as geochemical and surface geological data indicate the southward subduction of the Tarim block beneath the W Kunlun Mountains (NW Tibet plateau), forming the so-called “two-sided subduction” model for the Tibet plateau as proposed by previous studies. So the authors infer that the tectonic interaction between the Tarim block and the W Kunlun block was chiefly affected by a “horizontal compression in opposite directions”, which brought about “face-to-face contact” between these two lithospheric blocks and led to the thickening, shortening and densifying of the lithosphere. Hence a “delamination” was formed due to the gravitational instability created by the thickening and densifying; then alkaline basic volcanic rocks (mainly shoshonite series) was erupted along the northern margin of the Tibet plateau owing to the delamination. This inference for the formation of the alkaline basic volcanics has been confirmed by recent geochemical and petrological studies in Tibet, indicating that different contacts control different magmatic activities: the alkali basalts are always developed in the “horizontal shortening boundary (contact)” on the northern margin of the Tibet plateau, while the muscovite granite and two-mica granite (leucogranite) in the “subductional contact” on the southern margin of the Tibet plateau.

A small oscillogram, one end of which was substituted by a bright point caused by the redox of an appropriate depolarizer and the other end of which was the redox of Hg or the redox of supporting electrolyte cation, was investigated in this paper. Experimental results of application of the small oscillogram to oscillographic determination of cefoperazone showed that the small osciUogram was more stable, sensitive, and less interference than classical oscillogram.

In this study,the deformation and stress distribution of printed circuit board(PCB)with different thickness and composite materials under a shock loading were analyzed by the finite element *** standard 8-layer PCB subjected to a shock loading 1500 g was evaluated ***,the finite element models of the PCB with different thickness by stacking various number of layers were *** addition to changing thickness,the core material of PCB was replaced from woven E-glass/epoxy to woven carbon fiber/epoxy for structural *** non-linear material property of copper foil was considered in the *** results indicated that a thicker PCB has lower stress in the copper foil in PCBs under the shock *** stress difference between the thicker PCB(2.6 mm)and thinner PCB(0.6 mm)is around 5%.Using woven carbon fiber/epoxy as core material could lower the stress of copper foil around 6.6%under the shock loading 1500 g for the PCB with 0.6 mm *** the other hand,the stress level is under the failure strength of PCBs with carbon fiber/epoxy core layers and thickness 2.6 mm when the peak acceleration changes from 1500 g to 5000 *** study could provide a reference for the design and proper applications of the PCB with different thickness and composite materials.

Accurately forecasting ocean waves during typhoon events is extremely important in aiding the mitigation and minimization of their potential damage to the coastal infrastructure, and the protection of coastal communities. However, due to the complex hydrological and meteorological interaction and uncertainties arising from different modeling systems, quantifying the uncertainties and improving the forecasting accuracy of modeled typhoon-induced waves remain challenging. This paper presents a practical approach to optimizing model-ensemble wave heights in an attempt to improve the accuracy of real-time typhoon wave forecasting. A locally weighted learning algorithm is used to obtain the weights for the wave heights computed by the WAVEWATCH III wave model driven by winds from four different weather models （model-ensembles）. The optimized weights are subsequently used to calculate the resulting wave heights from the model-ensembles. The results show that the opti- mization is capable of capturing the different behavioral effects of the different weather models on wave generation. Comparison with the measurements at the selected wave buoy locations shows that the optimized weights, obtained through a training process, can significantly improve the accuracy of the forecasted wave heights over the standard mean values, particularly for typhoon-induced peak waves. The results also indicate that the algorithm is easy to imnlement and practieal for real-time wave forecasting.

Even though the relationship between antiarrhythmic drug usage and subsequent prostate cancer （PCa） risk has recently been highlighted, relevant findings in the previous literature are still inconsistent. In addition, very few studies have attempted to investigate the association between sodium channel blockers or potassium channel blockers for arrhythmia and the subsequent PCa risk. Therefore, this cohort study aimed to find the relationship between antiarrhythmic drug usage and the subsequent PCa risk using a population-based dataset. The data used in this study were derived from the Longitudinal Health Insurance Database 2005, Taiwan, China. We respectively identified 9988 sodium channel blocker users, 3663 potassium channel blocker users, 65 966 beta-blocker users, 23 366 calcium channel blockers users, and 7031 digoxin users as the study cohorts. The matched comparison cohorts （one comparison subject for each antiarrhythmic drug user） were selected from the same dataset. Each patient was tracked for a 5-year period to define those who were subsequently diagnosed with PCa. After adjusting for sociodemographic characteristics, comorbidities, and age, Cox proportional hazard regressions found that the hazard ratio （HR） of subsequent PCa for sodium channel blocker users was 1.12 （95% confidence interval [CI]： 0.84-1.50）, for potassium channel blocker users was 0.89 （95% CI. 0.59-1.34）, for beta-blocker users was 1.08 （95% Ch 0.96-1.22）, for calcium channel blocker users was 1.14 （95% Ch 0.95-1.36）, and for digoxin users was 0.89 （95% Ch 0.67-1.18）, compared to their matched nonusers. We concluded that there were no statistical associations between different types of antiarrhvthmic drug usage and subsequent PCa risk.

Background:As a non-invasive and effective diagnostic method for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth(SIBO),wild-use of breath test(BT)has demonstrated a high comorbidity rate in patients with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-D)and *** overlapping with SIBO respond better to rifaximin therapy than those with IBS-D *** microbiota plays a critical role in both of these two *** aimed to determine the microbial difference between IBS-D overlapping with/without SIBO,and to study the underlying mechanism of its sensitivity to ***:Patients with IBS-D were categorized as BT-negative(IBSN)and BT-positive(IBSP).Healthy volunteers(BT-negative)were enrolled as healthy *** patients were clinically evaluated before and after rifaximin treatment(0.4 g bid,4 weeks).Blood,intestine,and stool samples were collected for cytokine assessment and gut microbial ***:Clinical complaints and microbial abundance were significantly higher in IBSP than in *** contrast,severe systemic inflammation and more active bacterial invasion function that were associated with enrichment of opportunistic pathogens were seen in *** symptoms of IBSP patients were relieved in different degrees after therapy,but the symptoms of IBSN rarely *** also found that the presence of IBSN-enriched genera(Enterobacter and Enterococcus)are unaffected by rifaximin ***:IBS-D patients overlapping with SIBO showed noticeably different fecal microbial composition and function compared with IBS-D *** better response to rifaximin in those comorbid patients might associate with their different gut microbiota,which suggests that BT is necessary before IBS-D diagnosis and use of ***:Chinese Clinical Trial Registry,ChiCTR1800017911.
