Modulation by desensitized nicotinic receptors on metabolism of DA in striatum derived from the hemiparkinsonian model

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of desensitized nicotinic receptors(n ACh Rs) on striatal dopaminergic system in the hemiparkinsonian rats treated with 6-hydroxydopamine(6-OHDA). Methods: We examined the effects of desensitized n ACh Rs on the levels of dopamine(DA) and its metabolites, m RNA expression of dopamine receptor D1,D2 and monoamine oxidase B(MAO-B) in the striatum of 6-OHDA-lesioned rats using high-performance liquid chromatography and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. Results: The results showed that n ACh Rs desensitization following repeated nicotine stimulation could reverse significantly the decrease of striatal DA and its metabolites levels and the increase in DA turnover in lesioned side striatum of hemiparkinsonian rats. Dopamine D1 receptor m RNA expression increased significantly, whereas dopamine D2 receptor m RNA expression remained unchanged in lesioned side striatum of nicotine-treated rats compared to 6-OHDA-lesioned rats when n ACh Rs were desensitized. Meanwhile, nicotine-treated rats displayed a significant decrease in MAO-B m RNA expression in lesioned side striatum compared to 6-OHDA-lesioned rats after n ACh Rs desensitization. Conclusion: These results suggest that n ACh Rs desensitization could promote DA level, upregulate dopamine D1 receptor expression and downregulate MAO-B expression in striatum of hemiparkinsonian rats.

The presence of a rigid wall causes a microjet of the cavitation bubble to collapse to move toward the wall,while a free surface does the opposite.When a rigid wall surface is combined with a free surface,it may affect the direction of the microjet.The motive of this study is to find out the influence of the dynamic behavior of a laser-induced bubble near the rigid wall with a gas-containing hole.Evolutions of the bubble at different distances from the gas-containing hole in the horizontal and vertical directions were recorded by a high-speed camera(2.3×10^(5) fps).When the bubble collapse near the boundary,the bubble will produce two situations:away from or toward the boundary.It focuses on the direction of the bubble,the oscillation period of a bubble,and reflection angle,and quantitative analysis of the results.It was found that the boundary not only changes the morphologic of the bubble and the overall direction of movement but also affects the oscillation period.In addition,it can control the deflection of the bubble.

Utilizing metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) to design photocatalysts for CO_(2) reduction catalysts is an excellent idea but currently restricted by the relatively low activity. Enhancing CO_(2) affinity and tuning the oxidation state of metal clusters in MOFs might be a solution to improve the catalytic performance.Herein, the Cl-bridge atoms in the metal clusters of a cobalt MOF were easily exchanged with OH-,which simultaneously oxidized a portion of Co(Ⅱ) to Co(Ⅲ) and resulted in a much enhanced photocatalytic activity for CO_(2) reduction. In contrast, the original framework does not exhibit such superior activity. Comprehensive characterizations on their physicochemical properties revealed that the introduction of hydroxyl group not only greatly increases the CO_(2) affinity but also alters the oxidation state of metal clusters, resulting in significantly improved photocatalytic activities for CO_(2) reduction. This work provides important insight into the design of efficient photocatalysts.

Electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide(CO_(2))to higher-value products provides a forward-looking way to solve the problems of environmental pollution and energy shortage.However,the low solubility of CO_(2)in aqueous electrolytes,sluggish kinetics,and low selectivity hamper the efficient conversion of CO_(2).Here,we report a Au-based hybrid nanomaterial by modifying Au nanoparticles(NPs)with the macrocyclic molecule cucurbit[6]uril(Au@CB[6]).Au@CB[6]displays the optimal selectivity of CO,with the highest CO Faraday efficiency(FECO)reaching 99.50%at−0.6 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE).The partial current density of CO formed by Au@CB[6]increases dramatically,as 3.18 mA/cm2 at−0.6 V,which is more than ten times as that of oleylamine-coated Au NPs(Au@OAm,0.31 mA/cm2).Operando electrochemical measurement combined with density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveals that CB[6]can gather CO_(2)and lead the increased local CO_(2)concentration near metal interface,which realizes significantly enhanced electrochemical CO_(2)reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)performance.

High strength-ductility nano-structured high manganese steel produced by cryogenic asymmetry-rolling

A bulk nanostructured twinning-induced plasticity （TWIP） steel with high ductility and high strength was fabricated by cryogenic asymmetry-rolling （cryo-ASR） and subsequent recovery treatment. It was found that the cryo-ASRed TWIP steels exhibit simultaneous improvements in the ductility, strength and work hardening. Typical microstructures of the cryo-ASR TWIP steel were characterized by shear bands and intensive mechanical nano-sized twins induced by cryogenic deformation. These mechanical nano-scale twins remain thermally stable during the subsequent recovery treatment. It is believed that the ductility enhancement and high work-hardening ability for the cryo-ASR TWIP steels should be mainly attributed to the high-densitv pre-existing nano-scale twins.

Amorphous/nanocrystalline dual-phase structures have recently emerged as an effective way for over-coming the strength-ductility trade-offand breaking the limitation of the reverse Hall-Petch effect.Here,we proposed a new strategy to develop a hierarchical and interconnected amorphous-crystalline nanocomposite arising from the nanoscale elemental interdiffusion and oxygen adsorption behavior dur-ing thermal treatment processes.The nanocomposite consisted of a three-dimensional(3D)hierarchical network structure where the crystalline phase(Cr-Co-Ni-Al)was embedded into the Al-O-based amor-phous phase network with critical feature sizes encompassing three orders of magnitude(from microm-eter to nanometer scale).It can achieve ultrahigh compression yield strength of-3.6 GPa with large homogeneous deformation of over 50%strain.The massive interstitial atoms induced lattice distortion and hierarchical amorphous phase boundary contributed to the strength improvement.in situ Uniaxial compression inside a transmission electron microscope(TEM)revealed that the exceptional deformability of the nanocomposites resulted from the homogenous plastic flow of nano-sized amorphous phase and the plastic co-deformation behavior restricted by the nano-architected dual-phase interface.The proposed dual-phase synthesis approach can outperform conventional nanolaminates design strategies in terms of the mechanical properties achievable while providing a pathway to easily tune the microstructure of these nanolaminates.

Enhanced thermoelectric performance of 3D-printed Bi2Te3-based materials via adding Te/Se

Bi_(2)Te_(3)-based materials were prepared by direct ink writing(DIW)3D printing and their microstructure and thermoelectric properties were investigated with an emphasis on the effect of the content of DMF and Te/Se addition.As the mass ratio of DMF in the composition increased from 6.5%to 8.0%(in mass),the electrical conductivity deteriorated because of the corresponding increased porosity and organic remains in the samples.However,the volatilization of DMF would reduce the fluidity of the slurry.Thus,thermoelectric slurry with 7.0%DMF is the most suitable mass ratio for 3D printing.Additionally,adding Te in the p-type Bi0.4Sb1.6Te3 and adding Se in the n-type Bi2Te2.6Se0.4 have significantly improved their electrical conductivity due to the increased carrier concentration and mobility.Combining with the moderate Seebeck coefficient(~200 mV/K),high power factors with~802 mW·m^(-1)·K^(-2)and 1266 mW·m^(-1)·K^(-2)were obtained for the n-type Bi_(2)Te_(2.6)Se_(0.4)þ10%Se and p-type Bi_(0.4)Sb_(1.6)Te_(3)þ7%Te,respectively,which result in the final relatively high zT values of 0.68 at 573 K and 0.56 at 330 K for ntype and p-type 3D-printed samples.

Background and purpose Clinical studies have demonstrated that edaravone dexborneol can improve the functional outcomes in patients with acute ischaemic stroke(AIS).The present clinical trial aimed at testing the efficacy and safety of Y-2 sublingual tablet on 90-day functional outcome in patients with AIS.Methods and design This is a randomised,double-blind,placebo-controlled,multicentre,parallel-group trial of Y-2 sublingual tablet on patients with AIS.An estimated 914 patients at age of 18–80 years with AIS within 48 hours after symptom onset from 40 hospitals will be randomly assigned to receive Y-2 sublingual tablet or placebo for 14 days.Patients are at score 6–20 points on National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)and had a modified Rankin Scale(mRS)≤1 before this stroke,except mechanical thrombectomy and neuroprotective agents treatment.Study outcomes The primary outcome is the proportion of patients with mRS≤1 on day 90 after randomisation.Secondary efficacy outcomes include mRS score on day 90,the proportion of patients with mRS≤2 on day 90;the change of NIHSS score from baseline to day 14 and the proportion of patients with NIHSS score≤1 at the days 14,30 and 90.Discussion This trial will provide valuable evidence for the efficacy and safety of Y-2 sublingual table for improving 90 days the functional outcomes in patients with AIS.Trial registration number NCT04950920.
