Effect of pseudocritical rapid energy dissipation (PRED) from Pressurizer in nuclear steam supply system of Pressurized Water Reactor, where a single event as common cause failure, of considerable reduction of base-load electricity demand causes the temperature of the reactor coolant system (RCS) to increase, and corresponding pressure increases in pressurizer and steam generators above set-points. The study employed the uses of MATLAB/Simulink library tools, to experimentally modelled pressure control as PRED, where the momentum of transport of kinematic viscosity fraction above pseudocritical point dissipated as excess energy, to maintain the safety of the Pressurizer and RCS and keep the water from boiling. The result demonstrated the significance of pressure vector and Prandlt number as heat transfer coefficients that provided detailed activities in 2-D contour and 3-D graphics of specific internal energy and other parameterization of fluid in the pressurizer.

Despite the many years of extensive research using rodent models to study Alzheimer＇s disease （AD）, no cure or disease halting drug exists. An increasing number of people are suffering from the disease and a therapeutic intervention is needed. Therefore, it is necessary to have complementary models to aid in the drug discovery. The zebrafish animal model is emerging as a valuable model for the investigation of AD and neurodegenerative drug discovery. The main genes involved in human AD have homologous counter- parts in zebrafish and have conserved function. The basic brain structure of the zebrafish is also conserved when compared to the mammalian brain. Recently an AD model was established by administering okadaic acid to zebrafish. It was used to test the efficacy of a novel drug, lanthionine ketimine-5-ethyl ester, and to elucidate its mechanism of action. This demonstrated the ability of the okadaic acid-induced AD zebrafish model to be implemented in the drug discovery process for therapeutics against AD.

The present paper provides a review of the available non-surgical treatments for Peyronie＇s disease （PD）. A review of published literature on oral, intralesional, external energy and iontophoresis therapies for PD was performed, and the published results of available treatment options reviewed. The authors＇ recommendations for appropriate non-surgical management of PD are provided. Although there are many published reports that show the efficacy of non-surgical therapies for PD, there is a lack of large scale, multicenter controlled clinical trials, which makes treatment recommendations difficult. Careful review of the literature does suggest that there are treatment options that make scientific sense and appear to stabilize the disease process, reduce deformity, and improve function. Offering no treatment at all will encourage our patients to pursue alternative treatments, which might do harm, and misses the opportunity to do some good. Clearly further work is necessary to develop safe and effective non-surgical treatments for PD.

Cementless Semi-Constrained Rotating Platform Total Knee Replacement: A Concise Follow-Up of a Previous Report at a Minimum of Twenty Years

Background: A previous report evaluated the initial 310 cementless, Buechel-Pappas (B-P), Semi-Constrained Rotating Platform total knee replacements in 257 patients followed for an average of 7.6 years, range 2 - 18 years. Diagnoses were osteoarthritis in 233 patients, post traumatic arthritis in 4 patients and rheumatoid arthritis in 22 patients. Knee Scores, using a strict knee scoring scale were 86.4% excellent, 12.3% good, 0.3% fair and 1.0% poor results. Survivorship, using an end point of revision for any mechanical reason (including component loosening, bearing wear and bearing dislocation) was 99.4%. Survivorship for a poor knee score (including persistent pain, loosening, instability and infection was 97.6%. The purpose of the present study is to report the updated results of this same patient cohort at a minimum follow-up of twenty years. Methods: The average age of patients at the time of surgery was 67 years, range 34 to 91 years. A total of 20 patients (22 knees) were still living, with a follow-up of 20 - 30 years (mean 23.47 years). The same strict knee scoring scale and survivorship analysis were used to evaluate patient outcomes at the 20 to 30 years interval. Results: Survivorship, in the current study, using the same end points as in the previous study, was 96.5% at the 20 and 30-year intervals. Late mechanical failure and osteolysis were not identified. Conclusion: This cementless, semi-constrained rotating platform total knee replacement has stood the test of time for more than 20 years and can be considered acceptable for long-term use, in properly selected patients.

Part 2 reports the validation,local force and local flow study results for the free-running added power simulations whose conditions are the same as the self-propulsion test except for the increased propeller rotational speed and the presence of *** targeting the same mean Froude number in the wave condition,the propeller requires the increased propeller rotational speed for the operation at the low advance ratio due to the added *** test is performed at five different wavelengths in head waves and four different headings in the oblique *** the validation study,the time series of the validation variables is decomposed with discrete Fourier transform to extract the harmonic *** variables are global parameters,including motions,propeller thrust,and torque coefficients,added power variables,and self-propulsion factors which show reasonable agreement against the experiment results and produces a similar error from the self-propulsion *** local force study shows that the added resistance mostly appears at the bow due to the bow plunging during the short head wave and resonance *** contributions of the gravitational force and the buoyant force are found to increase as the stern motion exceeds the bow motion during the long head wave *** oscillation of the propeller performances shows correlation with the first harmonic amplitude of the propeller ***,pitch,and roll decay tests are performed prior to the main test to assess the natural frequencies of the *** as Part 1,a discretized propeller is used.

Gene expression is a critical process in biological system that is influenced and modulated by many factors including genetic variation. Expression Quantitative Trait Loci（e QTL） analysis provides a powerful way to understand how genetic variants affect gene expression. For genome wide e QTL analysis, the number of genetic variants and that of genes are large and thus the search space is tremendous. Therefore, e QTL analysis brings about computational and statistical challenges. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive review of recent advances in methods for e QTL analysis in population-based studies. We first present traditional pairwise association methods, which are widely used in human genetics. To account for expression heterogeneity, we investigate the methods for correcting confounding factors. Next, we discuss newly developed statistical learning methods including Lasso-based models. In the conclusion, we provide an overview of future method development in analyzing e QTL associations. Although we focus on human genetics in this review, the methods are applicable to many other organisms.

Background: The Buechel-Pappas (BP) meniscal bearing total ankle replace-ment was initially developed as a “shallow-sulcus” talar component device using cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy, in 1978, and later, modified to a “deep-sulcus” talar component device using titanium nitride (TiN) ceramic and porous coating in 1989. Wear related osteolytic cysts were noted in the tibia and talus surrounding these devices that compromised long term fixation and stability when using standard ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPe) as a bearing material. This study explores the use of highly cross-linked UHMWPe (HXLPe) to minimize osteolysis by replacing standard UHMWPe with this more wear-resistant material. Methods: There were 12 primary and 8 revision total ankle replacements followed for 13 to 15 years. HXLPe was used in all meniscal bearings, either as primary or revision implants. All stable metallic tibial and talar components were retained in revision cases. Osteolytic cysts greater than 10 mm in diameter were bone grafted with homologous morselized banked bone through cortical windows in the tibia or talus. No adjuvant screw fixation was used to stabilize any metallic implant. Results: No HXLPe bearings failed in this study, and no re-revisions were performed. No primary total ankle replacement failed in this study, and there were no substantial osteolytic cysts (>2 mm) observed in primary total ankle replacements on plain X-rays. All bone grafted osteolytic cysts in revision ankle replacements remained stable, even though partial resorption of the grafted material was identified in most of the ankles. No loosening of porous coated and TiN coated tibial and talar components were seen;the longest surviving metal components in the revision group was 24 years with the revised bearing at 15 years. Wireless communications have become an integral part of global convergence as global connectedness has gradually become dependent on its efficient *** need for"more-broadband"techniques in relation to the ever increasing growth rate of the data hungry society now necessitates novel techniques for the high-speed data *** advancements have been made in this regard,the projection of having an eventual Internet of everything (IoE) deployment will result in an unimaginable transmission data rate requirement as huge data traffic will be conveyed per time within the communications network,which will require a capacity upgrade of the existing *** light communications (VLCs),as an integral part of optical wireless communications (OWCs),have been reviewed in this article,having the capacity to extend the achievable data rate requirement of the wireless communications *** technologies,techniques,and best practices have been presented alongside technology integration for the seamless high capacity wireless broadband deployment.
