Purpose:The present study aimed to systematically review and compare 2 femoral autograft fixation techniques,namely,interference screws and suture anchors,for isolated medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction in patients with recurrent patellofemoral instability at mid-to long-term ***:A literature search was performed in September *** studies reporting the outcomes of primary isolated medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction for recurrent patellofemoral instability were considered for *** studies reporting the type of femoral autograft fixation under examination were *** reporting data from patients with elevated tibial tuberosity-tibial groove,patella alta,and/or Dejour’s trochlear dysplasia types C and D,were not *** articles reporting data with a minimum follow-up period of 18 months were ***:Data from 19 studies(615 patients)were *** overall age was 24.4±6.7 years(mean±SD).The mean follow-up was 46.5±20.9 *** were 76 patients in the anchor group and 539 in the screw *** was found with regard to age and follow-up duration between the 2 study *** was comparability between the Kujala,Lysholm,and Tegner scores at *** the last follow-up,no worthy differences were found in terms of mean Kujala(+2.1%;p=0.04),Lysholm(+1.7%;p=0.05),and Tegner(+15.8%;p=0.05)*** complications occurred almost exclusively in the screw cohort,no statistically significant difference was ***:Femoral autograft fixation through interference screws or suture anchors report similar clinical scores and rate of apprehension test,persistent joint instability,re-dislocations,and *** results must be interpreted within the limitations of the present study.

The debate of prostate cancer （PCa） screening has been shaped over decades. There is a plethora of articles in the literature supporting as well as declining prostate-specific antigen （PSA） screening. Does screening decrease PCa mortality？ With the long-term results of the European Randomized Study of Screening for Prostate （ERSPC） the answer is clearly YES. It moves! However, in medicine there are no benefits without any harm and thus, screening has to be performed in targeted and smart way-or in other words^in a risk-adapted fashion when compared with the way it was done in the past. Here, we discuss the main findings of the ERSPC trials and provide insights on how the future screening strategies should be implemented.

The transformer is one of the main components in the power network and transformer windings are one of the most expensive elements in the power transformer. Optimisation of winding distances is one of the most important parameters during the manufacturing of transformer. The distance between the windings in the two winding transformers is well known to transformer designers and manufacturers. However, insulation of the high voltage transformer with additional winding and tap winding is still a major problem for transformer designers. In this study, the additional winding to tap winding distance optimisation is made for a high voltage power transformer. Optimisation of the transformer's windings just not minimises the cost of the transformer but also increases the lifetime of the transformer. With additional winding and tap winding in high-voltage transformers, insulation distance is a major concern for minimising the cost and size of the high voltage transformer. In this study, an approach is made to balance the cost, size, and safety of high voltage transformers. The optimised distance and position between tap winding and additional winding are determined by using the finite element analysis. The finite element method results were also verified by making a prototype transformer.

Recent changes occurred in terminus of the debris-covered Bilafond Glacier in the Karakoram Range in the Himalayas, Northern Pakistan was investigated in this research. Landsat MSS, TM and ETM+ images were used for this study. Digital elevation models derived from ASTER GDEM and SRTM were also utilized. Visible, infrared and thermal infrared channels were utilized in order to get accurate glacier change maps. Three methods were tried to map this debris-covered glacier in this research. The glacier has been mapped successfully and the changes in the glacier terminus from 1978 to 2011 have been calculated. Manual, semi-automatic and thermal methods were found to give similar results. It was found that the glacier has undergone serious ablation during this period despite of the fact that many of the larger glaciers in the Hindu Kush and Karakoram mountain regions in the Upper Indus Basin were reported to be expanding. The terminus has been moved back about 600 meters during this period and there was an abrupt change in the glacier terminus during 1990-2002. We propose that debris thickness is not the only factor that influences the glacier ablation but the altitude of the debris-covered glacier as well. Many glaciers in the Karakoram region reported to be expanding were having higher altitudes compared to the study area.

The Spiti Shale Formation is a widely distributed stratigraphic unit of the passive northern margin of the Indian craton,deposited between the Callovian and earliest *** siliciclastic strata are dominated by dark-grey to black argillaceous *** the formation has undergone intense tectonic stress involving folding and faulting,it is very difficult to document a complete *** the type area,the Spiti Valley,six sections have been measured that document parts of the three informal members of the formation,the Lower,Middle,and Upper *** its uniform appearance,eight facies/biofacies types could be distinguished,ranging from the anoxic shale facies,with ammonites and belemnites as the only faunal elements,to the dysoxic Malayomaorica and Bositra biofacies,and the oxic to anoxic offshore shelf facies,which are characterized by low-diversity macrobenthos *** facies are the condensed glauconiticphosphoritic mudrock facies and the Fe-oolitic siltstone facies(both characterized by sediment starvation),the aerated argillaceous silt-sandstone facies,and the tide-influenced nearshore shelf *** benthic macrofauna represents four bivalve-dominated associations all characterized by a very low to low species *** are the Bositra buchii,the Australobuchia spitiensis,the Palaeonucula cuneiformis-Pruvostiella hermanni-Indogrammatodon egertonianus,and the Malayomaorica sp.-Australobuchia spitiensis-Retroceramus haasti *** and macrobenthic associations indicate that the Spiti Shale Formation represents outer to inner shelf environments,which for much of the time were subjected to upwelling and anoxic to dysoxic *** shallowing at the top characterizes the transition to the overlying Lower Cretaceous Giumal Formation.

The repeated slab approach has become a de facto standard to accurately describe surface properties of materials by density functional theory calculations with periodic boundary *** materials exhibiting spontaneous polarization,we show that the conventional scheme of passivation with pseudo hydrogen is unable to realize a charge-neutral *** presence of a net surface charge induces via Gauss’s law a macroscopic electric field through the slab and results in poor size convergence with respect to the thickness of the *** propose a modified passivation method that accounts for the effect of spontaneous polarization,describes the correct bulk limits and boosts convergence with respect to slab *** robustness,reliability,and superior convergence of energetics and electronic structure achieved by the proposed method are demonstrated using the example of polar ZnO surfaces.
