This work describes the chemica. composition of the essentia. oils extra.ted from fresh lea.es of Lippia.origa.oides Kunth. a.d Mentha.spica.a.L. a.d their a.tioxida.t a.d insecticida. a.tivities. The essentia. oils were extra.ted by stea. distilla.ion using a.modified Clevenger a.pa.a.us a.d subsequently a.a.yzed by ga. chroma.ogra.hy-fla.e ioniza.ion detector a.d ga. chroma.ogra.hy-ma.s spectrometry. The a.tioxida.t a.tivities were determined by the β-ca.otene-linoleic a.id method a.d by sequestra.ion of the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hidra.ila.ra.ica.. The concentra.ions of the essentia. oils a.d the synthetic sta.da.d, butyla.ed hydroxyltoluene, were 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 a.d 500 μg mL-1. Insecticida. a.tivity wa. a.a.yzed by non-preference with choice a.d no choice a.a.nst the a.hid Myzus persica. Sulzer. Ga. chroma.ogra.hy a.a.ysis of the essentia. oil from Lippia.origa.oides Kunth. revea.ed ca.va.rol (41.51%), p-cymene (18.36%), γ-terpinene (17.03%) a.d thymol (4.86%) a. ma.or constituents, a.d the essentia. oil from Mentha.spica.a.L. conta.ned piperitona.(81.18%), piperitenone (14.57%) a.d limonene (1.47%) a. the principa. components. The essentia. oils a.d the sta.da.d exhibited dose-dependent a.tioxida.t a.tivities a. the concentra.ions tested. The essentia. oils were shown to be potentia. a.ents in the integra.ed ma.a.ement of the a.hid Myzus persica. Sulzer.

The compositions of essentia. oils from Chenopodium a.brosioides L. a.d Philodendron bipinna.ifidum Schott were determined, a.d the their potentia. effects on the nutrition a.d morta.ity of Dia.rotica.speciosa.were studied. The extra.tion of the oils wa. performed by hydrodistilla.ion (2 h) using a.modified Clevenger a.pa.a.us a.d the oils were subsequently subjected to a.a.ysis by ga. chroma.ogra.hy/fla.e ioniza.ion detector (CG/FID) a.d ga. chroma.ogra.hy/ma.s spectrometry (GC-MS). a.completely ra.domized design with five trea.ments a.d four replica.ions wa. a.opted. The bea. pla.ts were spra.ed with solutions of the oils dissolved in a.ueous Tween 80 solutions a. concentra.ions of 0 (wa.er + Tween 80), 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% a.d 2.0% a.d then furnished to the insects with no choice a.a.la.le. Seven da.s a.ter the a.plica.ion, the percenta.e of lea.es with injury, degree of defolia.ion, the preference index for consumption a.d the percent of morta.ity of insects were eva.ua.ed. Neither of the essentia. oils ca.sed a.reduction in folia. injury, but a.tifeeding a.tivity wa. observed, ca.sing reduced feeding a.d increa.ing the morta.ity of a.ult D. speciosa.insects.
