Dear Editor, The cytosolic protein Tau is naturally present in human neurons, where it has a pivotal role in controlling microtubule stability. Hyperphosphorylation of Tau （observed during neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer＇s disease） impairs the protein＇s ability to bind microtubules. This results in microtubule disassembly and the formation of Tau aggregates, Tau protein is also widely expressed in peripheral tissues. In the male reproductive system, screening for Tau has focused solely on the rodent and bovine testis. In the present study, we used immunofluorescence and immunoenzymatic techniques （with a Tau-specific antibody） to investigate the presence of Tau protein in human ejaculated sperm and testicular tissue.

This paper investigates the incentives of invest in improving quality (as opposed to investments in new activities) in the telecommunications industry, based on the example of wireless markets. What is the impact of competition on incentives to invest, and on capacities to invest What is the role of the rate of penetration and technical progress This paper highlights the fact that investment incentives are positively related to potential for technical progress. Investment incentives also depend on market structure, competition intensity, and penetration rate, but not monotonically. This paper consists of a theoretical part which, under assumptions of full market coverage and market share symmetry, shows that for each national market, there is a target level of investment which companies strive to achieve but had not exceeded, and an empirical part that confirms the findings of the theoretical part and explains the differences with the theoretical part by relaxing the assumptions of full coverage and market share symmetry. This target level on the one hand depends on the potential for technical progress and on the other hand, depends on the rate of penetration. From a social perspective, this target level is the best amount that companies are encouraged to invest. Non-achievement of the target level entails underinvestment and a decrease in consumer surplus and welfare and may slow down technical progress. A data set covering 30 countries over a period of eight years is used to empirically prove the existence of a change in investment behavior depending on whether or not the target level is achieved. A low margin per user may hamper achievement of the target level. As a result, maximum consumer surplus and welfare occur under imperfect competition but not under perfect competition.

The miniaturisation context leads to the rise of micro-machining processes. Micro-milling is one of the most flexible and fast of them. Although it is based on the same principles as macro-cutting, it is not a simple scaling-down of it. This down-sizing involves new phenomena in the chip formation, such as the minimum chip thickness below which no chip is formed. This paper presents a review of the current state of the art in this field from an experimental and a numerical point of view. A 2D finite element model is then developed to study the influence of the depth of cut on the chip formation. After the model validation in macro-cutting, it highlights the phenomena reported in literature and allows to perform a minimum chip thickness estimation.

Test Rig Effect on Performance Measurement for Low Loaded Large-Diameter Fan for Automotive Application

Large diameter fans with low solidity are widely used in automotive application for engine cooling. Their designs with small chord length help reducing the torque on the electrical motor and providing a good aerodynamic compromise between several operating conditions, some of these being at high flow rate. Their global performances are measured according to the ISO standard DP 5801, which allows comparison of results from different facilities. However, some variations in global performances are observed when considering results from two different test rigs. On a fan selected for the purpose of this study, up to 6 % of efficiency is lost on the worst case. As efficiency is more than ever a key factor to select a component, some experimental and numerical investigations were conducted to analyze the fan behavior on each facility. Two sets of measurement and simulation are performed and compared. Geometries considered for the domain of computation include the test rig plenum, the torquemeter, the ground and a large domain for the atmospheric conditions. The exact fan geometry with tip clearance and under-hub ribs is also considered. Numerical results show a good agreement with experiment in both cases when convergence is reached and for low flow rate when computations are switched to unsteady mode. Comparisons show that simulations are able to capture the different fan behaviors depending on the configuration and those efficiency losses previously observed are correctly predicted. These results are further analyzed to perform some post-processing. Blade loading remains identical for both cases but disparities appear in the wake and its interaction with the surrounding. Tiny details that are often neglected during experiment and/or simulation appear to be the cause of slight variations. Analysis Method for Pesticide Residues in Biological Matrices： Gas Chromatography-mass Spectrometry

Pesticides have done a great service to human, but their use is not safe for public health. Apart from pesticides acute toxicity, their chronic toxicity can cause various problems for human health. The objective of this work was to validate a liquid-liquid extraction method, which allows a fairly reliable analysis of pesticides using gas chromatography-spectrometry mass (GC/MS) in toxicology laboratory at National Institute of hygiene, Rabat Morocco. The equipment required to perform these analyzes are the biological matrices (blood, gastric fluid), in which the authors have doped the Organophosphorus pesticides such as Chlorpyrifos, Dichlorvos and Organochlorine pesticide: dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) and Heptachlor. After extracting the mixture with toluene, the supernatant was collected after centrifugation and concentrated in a small volume of 1.5 mL and then analyzed in GC/MS. After analyzing, the authors found that the yields of each pesticide in samples are significant; respectively they represented 73.4% of Chlorpyrifos, 70.8% of Dichlorvos, 47.8% of DDT and 71.6% of Heptachlor. The blood has a strong link with the most pesticides, where it"s important to use the GC/MS to identify these products. The extraction with toluene was effective, especially to OP, but it"s also sensitive to OC.
