Evaluating Emissions of Nitrous Oxide from Cropland Soils Under Different Rotations in Mato Grosso, Brazil:A Scenario Simulation Study

Expansion of cropland involves immense land use changes, and the resulting intensified management practices have a strong influence on the functioning of the underlying soil. For instance, increased application of nitrogen(N) fertilizer is known to enhance fluxes of nitrous oxide(N2O) from the soil to the atmosphere. The emission factor(EF) proposed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC) assumes a linear relationship between added N and N2O-N fluxes, but it does not account for environmental factors, such as soil properties or climate. Due to the high spatial and temporal variability of N2O-N fluxes, mechanistic models are preferable in terms of extrapolation to larger scales. In this study, we evaluated simulated N2O-N fluxes from soils under agricultural use in the Brazilian state, Mato Grosso, using the CANDY(Carbon and Nitrogen Dynamics) model. A control tool was developed in order to enable the simulation of 1 650 scenarios covering different sites(soil + climate) and management regimes(crop rotation +amount of applied fertilizer + sowing and harvesting dates). Results suggested that the sites had a very strong influence on calculated emissions, which is not accounted for by static EF. Furthermore, most fertilizer-induced N2O-N fluxes derived from the scenario simulations were best described by a non-linear function. For sounder budgeting on the federal and national scale, there is still a strong need for long-term observations of continuous crop rotations and spatial distribution of soil types and their specific characteristics. The presented results provide a valuable starting point for developing further scenario simulations and adapting experimental campaigns for N2O emission study.

The quantitative photoacoustic investigation of different TiO2 thin films on Si substrates is presented using the elastic bending method. Photoacoustic signal amplitude and phase spectra versus modulation frequency were measured and analyzed using different sample thicknesses. Within the proposed method particular attention is given to the analysis of optical, thermal, elastic and structural sample parameters. Considerable focus is devoted to the fitting procedure of experimental results using the two-layer sample theoretical model. Characteristics of previously developed photoacoustic apparatus are discussed, attempting to search the ideal experimental conditions which can provide a good signal-to-noise ratio and sensitivity.

基于蛋白磷酸酶抑制反应,发展了微流体注入-热透镜显微探测系统,并用于高灵敏的快速检测水体中微囊藻毒素。研究了反应时间、底物浓度和酶活性等因素对检测微囊藻毒素的影响;给出了最优的反应参数。与传统基于微量滴定板的微囊藻毒素检测方法相比,酶的用量可减少一个数量级,并且将分析时间从30min缩短至6min。该检测方法对微囊藻毒素LR的检出限约为20ng/L。测试了来自一渔场的水样,发现水体中微囊藻毒素水平低于本方法的检出限。

A company is usually founded by individuals striving to achieve their own or broader goals. Goal achievement related to a company"s operations is called business or the business process. Human capital (man"s work, employees) is an important element of the business process, however its value is not disclosed on the assets side of the classical balance sheet. In order to shown assets, human capital has to be evaluated. Evaluation can be made in monetary or non-monetary terms. Non-monetary models for evaluating human capital include organisational and behavioural variables. These variables are not expressed in monetary terms, however, based on changes in their quality, one can assume the increased or decreased value of human capital within the company. The value of non-monetary models should not be underestimated, however monetary models are of greater importance. In this article, the most significant non-monetary and monetary models of human capital evaluation are discussed. Among non-monetary models the Michigan, Flamholz, and Ogan models are discussed. Among monetary models the replacement costs model, the opportunity costs model, the discounted wages and salaries model, and originally created dynamic model are discussed. A descriptive approach is used to identify the basic characteristics of existing models for evaluating human capital. According to these findings a different approach is taken in developing an original model. Dynamic model can efficiently overcome most of the practical problems and can be used as an appropriate estimator of human capital value expressed in monetary terms. The research limitations are that the dynamic model has not been sufficiently verified in practice. The model could prove to be directly applicable in those enterprises that would like to define the value of their human capital.

Investments in Human Capital： Elements of Investments, Their Valuation, and the Related Financial Performance Ratios

Investments in human capital (employees) include investments in the direct assurance of working abilities, investments in health and well-being, and investments in loyalty to the company. These investments are crucial for the long-term existence and development of a company, but their value is not disclosed on the assets side of the classical balance sheet. The most important argument of the mentioned approach’s promoters is that the economic benefits stemming from such investments are uncertain. However, investments in human capital are those with the highest long-term benefits for the company. Therefore, human capital is the only element of the business process that can add value. Other elements (equipment, materials, and services) just transfer their value to products and services. In this paper, the elements of investments in human capital and the methods used to evaluate these investments are addressed. In addition, uniquely shaped financial performance ratios related to investments in human capital are presented along with the system of integrated ratios.

世界上很多地区基于桉树的商业价值开展了桉树人工林的经营。密度管理在桉树人工林经营管理中往往成为很重要的手段。该研究以不同林龄的桉树人工林为研究对象,在森林郁闭和树木生长竞争期,量化其森林郁闭度和冠层结构。通过对桉树人工林的调查,研究了其林地指数对其林冠郁闭度的影响。结果表明:立地指数对郁闭度影响不大,在好的立地条件下森林郁闭度有轻微的影响。基于树冠投影面积比和树冠直径和胸径的比值研究表明:桉树林在4年生时开始郁闭。对不同林龄的相对间距RS值的研究表明:相对间距值在第4年时表现出快速降低,到21年的时候逐渐变得相对平缓。桉树林在前3年表现出快速的高生长,由于速生,其在密度上没有多大变化。4年生桉树林由于死亡率导致树木个体数量的减少,影响了RS值,导致其逐渐下降。
