The accelerated growth of the vehicular fleet, the modernization of large urban centers, and the few adjustments to the road network in Fortaleza have intensified the problems of traffic and emissions of atmospheric pollutants, highlighting the necessity for strategic urban planning initiatives to address the escalating issues of traffic and pollution. With the objective of analyzing the indices of concentrations of atmospheric pollutants and estimating how these levels can affect human health, this work consists of a study of the analysis of air quality in the intense trade region of Fortaleza. For this, the analysis zone was divided into three perimeters (Major - Medium - Minor), where each perimeter was analyzed at 7 am, 12 noon and 5 pm. Concentrations of the type of O3, particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), CO2 and HCHO were collected. Our results demonstrate that most of the analyses are within the limits of current legislation;however, at certain times and perimeters, the analyses of CO2 and HCHO exceeded the established limits. In view of the above, we conclude that public policies to control air quality are necessary to reduce the damage to human health and the environment caused by pollutants.

Computational Intelligence-Based System in the Support of the Diagnosis of Brain Tumors： An Approach through Fuzzy C-Means Method

Brain tumor is a major cause of an increased transient between children and adults. This article proposes an improved method based on magnetic resonance （MRI） brain imaging and image segmentation. Automated classification is encouraged by the need for high accuracy in dealing with a human life. Detection of brain tumor is a challenging problem due to the high diversity in tumor appearance and ambiguous tumor boundaries. MRI images are chosen for the detection of brain tumors as they are used in the determination of soft tissues. First, image preprocessing is used to improve image quality. Second, the multi-scale decomposition of complex dual-wavelet tree transformations is used to analyze the texture of an image. Resource extraction draws resources from an image using gray-level co-occurrence matrix （GLCM）. Therefore, the neuro-fuzzy technique is used to classify brain tumor stages as benign, malignant, or normal based on texture characteristics. Finally, tumor location is detected using Otsu threshold. The performance of the classifier is evaluated on the basis of classification accuracies. The simulated results show that the proposed classifier provides better accuracy than the previous method.

The theory of constraints thinking process, created by Israeli physicist Eliyahu M. Goldratt, has emerged as a tool for achieving competitive advantage. Many researches also focused on the application of lean thinking developed by Toyota and proposed by Ohno. This philosophy has been proven to be effective in several production processes. This paper aims to propose a method of problem solving through the integration of theory of constraints thinking process and the principles of lean production. As a tool for problem identification, the method defends the use of current reality tree and, to solve problems, the lean thinking tools, proposed by Picchi. The developed method was implemented in a contractor. The research methodology was research-action. Among the results, there was a realistic diagnosis about the core problems in company. According to this, the core problem of the contractor is “the lack of commitment of manpower” that results in the main problem “the financial loss”. The principle of perfection was verbalized as a proposal to solve the problems and the tools to be implemented for solving problems were “commitment of senior management to employees” and “simplicity in communication”.

Designing a SCAR molecular marker for monitoring Trichoderma cf. harzianum in experimental communities

Several species of the fungal genus Trichoderma establish biological interactions with various micro- and macro-organisms. Some of these interactions are relevant in ecological terms and in biotechnological applications, such as biocontrol, where Trichoderma could be considered as an invasive species that colonizes a recipient community. The success of this invasion depends on multiple factors, which can be assayed using experimental communities as study models. Therefore, the aim of this work is to develop a species-specific sequence-characterized amplified region （SCAR） marker to monitor the colonization and growth of T. cf. harzianum when it invades experi- mental communities. For this study, 16 randomly amplified polymorphic DNA （RAPD） primers of 10-mer were used to generate polymorphic patterns, one of which generated a band present only in strains of T. cf. harzianum. This band was cloned, sequenced, and five primers of 20-23 mer were designed. Primer pairs 2F2/2R2 and 2F2/2R3 successfully and specifically amplified fragments of 278 and 448 bp from the T. cf. harzianum BpT10a strain DNA, respectively. Both primer pairs were also tested against the DNA from 14 strains of T. cf. harzianum and several strains of different fungal genera as specificity controls. Only the DNA from the strains of T. cf. hat-zianum was successfully amplified. Moreover, primer pair 2F2/2R2 was assessed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction （PCR） using fungal DNA mixtures and DNA extracted from fungal experimental communities as templates. T. cf. harzianum was detectable even when as few as 100 copies of the SCAR marker were available or even when its population represented only 0.1% of the whole community.

Due to the availability and particular features, wood was one of the first materials used by mankind with a wide variety of applications. It can be used as raw-material for paper and cellulose manufacturing; in industries such as chemical, naval, furniture, sports goods, toys, and musical instruments; in building construction and in the distribution of electric energy. Wood has been widely researched; therefore, wood researchers know that several aspects such as temperature, latitude, longitude, altitude, sunlight, soil, and rainfall index interfere as to the growth of trees. This behavior explains why the average of physical chemical properties is important in wood *** of the researchers consider density to be the most important wood property because of its straight relationship with the physical and mechanical properties in wood. There are three types of wood density： basic, apparent and green. The apparent density was used here at 12% of moisture content. In this study, four different types of wood were used：＂Freijo＂, ＂Jequitiba＂, ＂Muiracatiara＂ and ＂Ipe＂. For wood density determination by non-conventional method, ^241Am, ^133Ba and ^137Cs gamma-ray sources, a NaI scintillation detector and a counter were used. The results demonstrated that this technique is quick and accurate. Considering the nuclear parameters obtained as half-value layers and linear absorption coefficients,^ 137Cs demonstrated to be the best option to be used for inspection of the physical integrity of electric wooden poles and live trees for future works.

The thinking process of TOC （Theory of Constraints） was an important consolidated tool to the systematization of the companies＇ necessities because of its competitive advantage. The lean thinking proposed by Taiichi Ohno and developed by Toyota Company has been tested and found effective in several production processes. This paper aims to propose a method of problem solving through the integration of the principles of lean thinking and the TPTOC （Thinking Process of the Theory of Constraints）. The method was implemented on a civil contractor, using the research methodology and the action research. We concluded that, after the research, the core problem regarding the company is the technical failure of the administrative staff, which causes delay in the construction works and financial loss. We also concluded that the obstacles that could prevent the achievement of objectives are related to lack of a vision from senior management regarding financial return when investing in employee training. The goal was accomplished with the integration of two philosophies, TPTOC and lean. And only the tools proposed by Fl^vio Augusto Picchi were not enough for executing the action, so new lean actions were verbalized.

This report presents a case of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma(e RMS) located in the left maxillary sinus and invading the orbital cavity in a ten-year-old male patient who was treated at a referral *** images provided from the computed tomography showed a heterogeneous mass with soft-tissue density,occupying part of the left half of the face inside the maxillary sinus,and infiltrating and destroying the bone structure of the maxillary sinus,left orbit,ethmoidal cells,nasal cavity,and sphenoid *** analysis of the histological sections revealed an undifferentiated malignant neoplasm infiltrating the skeletal muscle *** immunohistochemical analysis was positive for the antigens:MyoD 1,myogenin,desmin,and Ki67(100% positivity in neoplastic cells),allowing the identification of the tumour as an eR *** treatment protocol included initial chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy and finally *** total time of the treatment was nine months,and in 18-mo of follow-up period did not show no local recurrences and a lack of visual impairment.

An ever more demanding consumer market and the need for companies to be more competitive have led organizations to try to eliminate waste. This research is a case study which presents a proposal for intervention in order to improve performance of a pre-cast concrete block factory in outer Goihnia. As a first step, waste in the production process was identified through analysis of data on time involved in each step of the process. Then, applying the concepts of lean production, a list of activities was drawn up with a view to eliminating non-value-added work, identifying waste, decreasing cycle time, streamlining the production process and increasing the flexibility and transparency of the process. From the results, it was possible to identify the sources of waste and provide management with information for strategic decisions about production. Finally, various suggestions were made with a view to eliminating or mitigating bottlenecks in the production process.
