Spatio-temporal evolution of Allium l. in the Qinghaie-Tibet-Plateau region: Immigration and in situ radiation

A plethora of studies investigating the origin and evolution of diverse mountain taxa has assumed a causal link between geological processes （orogenesis） and a biological response （diversification）. yet, a substantial delay （up to 30 Myr） between the start of orogenesis and diversification is often observed. Evolutionary biologists should therefore identify alternative drivers of diversification and maintenance of biodiversity in mountain systems. Using phylogenetic, biogeographic, and diversification rate analyses, we could identify two independent processes that most likely explain the diversity of the widespread genus Allium in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau （QTP） region：（1） While the QTP-related taxa of the subgenus Melanocrommyum diversified in situ, （2） QTP-related taxa of other subgenera migrated into the QTP from multiple source areas. Furthermore, shifts in diversification rates within Allium could not be attributed spatially and temporally to the uplift history of the QTP region. Instead, global cooling and climate oscillations in the Quaternary were major contributors to increased speciation rates in three clades of AUium. Our study therefore adds to the growing evidence supporting the ＂mountain-geo-biodiversity hypothesis＂, which highlights the role of climate oscillations for the diversification of mountain organisms.

A Simple Method of Electrospun Tungsten Trioxide Nanofibers with Enhanced Visible-light Photocatalytic Activity

The present study involves the fabrication of tungsten trioxide(WO3) nanofibers by an electrospinning technique using polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP)/citric acid/tungstic acid as precursor solution. It was found that the PVP concentration was one of the most crucial processing parameters determining the final properties of WO3 nanofibers. The optimum concentration of PVP was from 75 to 94 g l-1. The average diameter of the nanofibers increases with increasing the PVP concentration, whereas it is decreased after sintering and orthorhombic structure were formed at 500 °C. The photocatalytic properties of the as-synthesized nanofibers were also investigated by degrading methylene blue and twofold efficiency was obtained compared with that of commercial WO3 microparticles.

Hlder Norm Estimate for a Hilbert Transform in Hermitean Clifford Analysis

A Hilbert transform for H61der continuous circulant （2 × 2） matrix functions, on the d- summable （or fractal） boundary F of a Jordan domain Ω in R2n, has recently been introduced within the framework of Hermitean Clifford analysis. The main goal of the present paper is to estimate the HSlder norm of this Hermitean Hilbert transform. The expression for the upper bound of this norm is given in terms of the HSlder exponents, the diameter of F and a specific d-sum （d 〉 d） of the Whitney decomposition of Ω. The result is shown to include the case of a more standard Hilbert transform for domains with left Ahlfors-David regular boundary.

Differential response of tomato genotypes to Xanthomonas-specific pathogen-associated molecular patterns and correlation with bacterial spot (Xanthomonas perforans) resistance

Plants depend on innate immune responses to retard the initial spread of pathogens entering through stomata,hydathodes or *** responses are triggered by conserved patterns in pathogen-encoded molecules known as pathogen-associated molecular patterns(PAMPs).Production of reactive oxygen species(ROS)is one of the first responses,and the resulting‘oxidative burst’is considered to be a first line of *** this study,we conducted association analyses between ROS production and bacterial spot(BS;Xanthomonas spp.)resistance in 63 genotypes of tomato(Solanum lycopersicum l.).A luminol-based assay was performed on leaf tissues that had been treated with a flagellin 22(flg22),flagellin 28 and a Xanthomonas-specific flg22(flg22-Xac)peptide,to measure PAMP-induced ROS production in each *** genotypes were also assessed for BS disease response by inoculation with Xanthomonas perforans,race *** there was no consistent relationship between peptides used and host response to the BS,there was a significant negative correlation(r=−0.25,Pliar disease severity and ROS production,when flg22-Xac was *** response could potentially be used to identify the Xanthomonas-specific PRR allele in tomato,and eventually PAMP-triggered immunity loci could be mapped in a segregating *** has potential significance in tomato improvement.

Cooperative control of multi-agent systems linked by communication networks is a well-developed and still growing field. The interplay of the individual agent dynamics and the communication graph topology results in intriguing and often surprising behaviors that are not manifested in the study of control systems for single-agent dynamics. This field brings systems theory, feedback control, graph theory, communication systems, complex systems theory to provide rigorous analysis and design for multiple dynamical systems interconnected by a graph information flow structure. Applications have been made to vehicle formation control, coordinated multi-satellite control, electric power system control, robotics, autonomous airborne systems, manufacturing production lines, and the synchronization of dynamical processes in chemistry, physics, biology, and chaotic systems.

Experimental Study and Numerical Simulation Using Extended Finite Element Method (XFEM) Combined with Cohesive Zone Model (CZM), of Crack Growth Induced by Non-Explosive Expansive Material on Two Neighboring Circular Holes of A Gneiss Rock

The Non-explosive expansion material (NEEM) is a method more environmentally friendly than the harmful conventional rock fracturing techniques. However, it is slower and very costly. Thus, any means of economizing their use is very desirable. This paper investigates the crack growth between two neighboring holes of a gneiss rock internally pressurized by NEEM mixed with water with the aim to evaluate the influence of holes spacing (center-to-center distance), on the initiation and growth of cracks. Field experimental results reveal that crack starts earlier and grows faster with increasing ambient temperature. But when the ambient temperature is above 28°C, the NEEM is “blown out” of the holes. At these ambient temperatures, the surrounding rocks are hot and cannot dissipate efficiently the heat generated by the hydration reaction. The best filling time was found to be in the evening when the daily hot temperature has drooped. The time to first crack increases as hole diameter decreases. The 3D numerical modeling and simulation of crack growth between two neighboring holes internally pressurized by NEEM using ABAQUS (XFEM/CZM) software shows a good agreement with the theoretical and experimental results.
