Wastewater from dairy farms has become a major environmental and economical *** residue in treated and untreated wastewater from dairy farms used for irrigation can lead to soil and groundwater salinization,with the risk of soil *** examined the effect of reducing sodium fed to mid to late lactating cows from 0.61%(high sodium[HS])to 0.45%(low sodium[LS])of dry matter on dry matter intake(DMI),milk and milk-component yields,eating behavior,apparent total track digestibility,feed efficiency,and sodium excretion into the *** randomly assigned 28 multiparous high-yielding(>35 kg milk/d)cows to 1 of 2 treatment groups(LS or HS)in a crossover design,with 7 d of adaptation and 28 d of data *** sodium in the diet reduced sodium intake from 171 to 123 g/d while lowering sodium excreted in the manure by 22%.Energy corrected milk(ECM)yield(37.4 kg/d)and sodium excretion in the milk(33.7 g/d)were similar for both *** DMI of LS cows was lower than that of HS cows(27.3 vs.28 kg/d)and consequently,feed efficiency of the LS cows was higher(1.40 vs.1.35 ECM/DMI).Eating rate,meal and visit frequency,and eating time were similar for both treatments;meal and visit duration were longer for the HS cows,and meal and visit sizes tended to be *** of DM and amylase-treated neutral detergent fiber remained *** on the results of this study,and discussed considerations,we recommend lowering the dietary sodium content for mid to late lactating cows in commercial herds to 0.52%of DM,in order to reduce sodium excretion to the environment via urine.

In this paper we evaluate the feasibility of seamless and efficient integration of terrestrial communication systems with satellite networks. This aspect is considered by standardisation bodies such as ETSI [1], 5 G-PPP [2] and 3 GPP [3]. A comprehensive system is designed and implemented in an emulation prototype, including standard 3 GPP LTE core network functionality [4] with its different layers: networking, data forwarding, control, management and monitoring and is validated through performance measurements. This work is a technical feasibility study of extending terrestrial communication systems with satellite networks as backhaul, increasing the energy efficiency, network robustness during natural disasters as well as being an alternative for peak-time data forwarding of the terrestrial communication services. Due to its global coverage property, terrestrial-satellite integration provides an obvious extension of communication services towards isolated and remote areas and an alternative for rural or highly distributed/highly mobile enterprise networks.

The development of reliable and affordable all-solid-state sodium metal batteries(ASS-SMBs)requires suitable solid-state electrolytes with cost-efficient processing and stabilized electrode/electrolyte ***,an integrated porous/dense/porous Na_(5)YSi_(4)O_(12)(NYS)trilayered scaffold is designed and fabricated by tape casting using aqueous *** this template-based NYS scaffold,the dense layer in the middle serves as a separator and the porous layers on both sides accommodate the active materials with their volume changes during the charge/discharge processes,increasing the contact area and thus enhancing the utilization rate and homogenizing the current *** Na/NYS/Na symmetric cells with the Pb-coated NYS scaffold exhibit significantly reduced interfacial impedance and superior critical current density of up to 3.0 mA cm^(-2)against Na metal owing to enhanced ***,the assembled Na/NYS/S full cells operated without external pressure at room temperature showed a high initial discharge capacity of 970 mAh g^(-1)and good cycling stability with a capacity of 600 mAh g^(-1)after 150 cycles(based on the mass of sulfur).This approach paves the way for the realization of economical and practical ASS-SMBs from the perspective of ceramic manufacturing.

Four sites located in the north-eastern region of the United States of America have been chosen to investigate the impacts of soil heterogeneity in the transport of solutes(bromide and chloride)through the vadose zone(the zone in the soil that lies below the root zone and above the permanent saturated groundwater).A recently proposed mathematical model based on the cumulative beta distribution has been deployed to compare and contrast the regions'heterogeneity from multiple sample percolation *** differences in patterns of solute leaching were observed even over a small spatial scale,indicating that traditional sampling methods for solute transport,for example the gravity pan or suction lysimeters,or more recent inventions such as the multiple sample percolation systems may not be effective in estimating solute fluxes in soils when a significant degree of soil heterogeneity is ***,ignoring soil heterogeneity in solute transport studies will likely result in under-or overprediction of leached fluxes and potentially lead to serious pollution of soils and/or *** cumulative beta distribution technique is found to be a versatile and simple technique of gaining valuable information regarding soil heterogeneity effects on solute *** is also an excellent tool for guiding future decisions of experimental designs particularly in regard to the number of samples within one site and the number of sampling locations between sites required to obtain a representative estimate of field solute or drainage flux.

A 51-year old female with a history of multiple sclerosis presented to the emergency department with hypotension and fatigue. She was found to be in cardiogenic shock. Her initial EKG was concerning for STEMI and her troponin was positive. She was eventually diagnosed with spontaneous coronary artery dissection. This case report discusses her presentation, management, and clinical course. We emphasize the need for emergency medicine physicians to be concerned for SCAD, especially in women with a history of fibromuscular dysplasia, connective tissue disorders, or peri-partum status.

The association between sexual function and prostate cancer risk in US veterans

Sexual dysfunction and prostate cancer are common among older men. Few studies explored the association between these two illnesses. We examined whether sexual function is associated with prostate cancer risk among older men. Among 448 men undergoing prostate biopsy at the Durham Veterans Affairs Hospital, sexual function was ascertained from the Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite sexual assessment. We tested the link between sexual function and prostate cancer risk adjusting for multiple demographic and clinical characteristics using logistic regression. Multinomial logistic regression was used to test the associations with risk of low-grade （Gleason 〈6） and high-grade （Gleason 〉7 or 〉4 ＋ 3） disease versus no cancer. Of 448 men, 209 （47%） had a positive biopsy; these men were less likely to be white （43% vs 55%, P=0.013）, had higher prostate-specific antigen （PSA）（6.0 vs 5.4 ng ml-1, P 〈 0.001）, but with lower mean sexual function score （47 vs 54, P = 0.007）. There was no difference in age, BMI, pack years smoked, history of heart disease and/or diabetes. After adjusting for baseline differences, sexual function was linked with a decreased risk of overall prostate cancer risk （OR. 0.91 per lO-point change in sexual function, P= 0.004） and high-grade disease whether defined as Gleason ≥7 （OR： 0.86, P= 0.001） or 〉4 ＋ 3 （OR： 0.85, P= 0.009）. Sexual function was unrelated to low-grade prostate cancer （OR： 0.94, P = 0.13）. Thus, among men undergoing prostate biopsy, higher sexual function was associated with a decreased risk of overall and high-grade prostate cancer. Confirmatory studies are needed.

One-dimensional titanium dioxide nanorod(TNR)-supported Cu catalysts(2.5 wt.%-12.5 wt.%)were synthesized using deposition-precipitation.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,temperature programmed reduction and CO chemisorption measurements showed that Cu doping over TNR offered metal-support interactions and interfacial active sites that had a profound impact on the catalytic *** role of the Cu-TNR interface was investigated by comparing the catalytic activity of Cu-TNR catalysts with that of pure CuO nanoparticles in CO *** presence of highly dispersed copper species,a high number of interfacial active sites,CO adsorption capacity and surface/lattice oxygen were found to be responsible for the excellent activity of 7.5CU-TNR(ie,Cu loading of 7.5 wt.%on TNR).Moreover,the Cu-TNR catalysts followed the Langmuir-Hinshelwood reaction mechanism with 7.5CU-TNR,exhibiting an apparent activation energy of 44.7 kJ/*** TNR-supported Cu catalyst gave the highest interfacial catalytic activity in medium-temperature CO oxidation(120-240℃)compared to other commonly used supports,including titanium dioxide nanoparticles(TiO2-P25),silica(SiO2)and alumina(Al20g)in which copper species were nonhomogeneously *** study confirms that medium-temperature CO oxidation is highly sensitive to the morphology and structure of the supporting material.
