Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS)is a fatal disease characterized by the premature loss of motor *** the underlying cellular mechanisms of neuron degeneration are unknown,the cytoplasmic aggregation of several proteins is associated with sporadic and familial forms of the *** wild-type and mutant forms of the RNA-binding proteins FUS and TDP-43 accumulate in cytoplasmic inclusions in the neurons of ALS *** is not known if these so-called proteinopathies are due to a loss of function or a gain of toxicity resulting from the formation of cytoplasmic *** we present a model of FUS toxicity using the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae in which toxicity is associated with greater expression and accumulation of FUS in cytoplasmic *** find that FUS and TDP-43 have a high propensity for co-aggregation,unlike the aggregation patterns of several other aggregation-prone ***,the biophysical properties of FUS aggregates in yeast are distinctly different from many amyloidogenic proteins,suggesting they are not composed of amyloid.

Africa is endowed with vast water resources including but not limited to lakes,rivers,swamps and underground ***,the way of life in Africa does not reflect this kind of wealth owing majorly to degradation and underutilization of these water *** review discusses the centrality of water resources in Africa's pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).Following the Sustainable Development Model,the paper thematically examines and synthesizes the importance and potentials of water resources to Africa's development through exploring their contributions and limitations to the various economic sectors namely;agricultural and livestock production,energy,manufacturing and processing,tourism,health,fisheries,trade and other institutional mechanisms such as payment for ecosystem services(PES),mutual cooperation and economic *** were collected by review of online peer-reviewed and grey literature published between the year 2000 and *** is observed that sustainable management of water and sanitation for all(SDG 6)will be central to the attainment of all the other SDGs(particularly SDG 1(No poverty),2(No hunger),3(Good health),14(life below water)and 15(life on land))across *** states should therefore increase their commitment to water conservation and management as this will significantly decide Africa's future development paths.

The addition of 1-butylpyrrolidine to AlCl3results in the formation of an electrolyte that is suited to Al *** feasibility of electrodepositing Al from the synthesized electrolyte was *** compositions of AlCl3and 1-butylpyrrolidine were prepared for this *** mixtures show a different phase behavior at various compositions of AlCl3and ***,Raman and NMR spectroscopy were employed to characterize the synthesized *** the prepared compositions,1:1.2 mol ratio of 1-butylpyrrolidine:AlCl3and the upper phase of 1:1.3 mol ratio of 1-butylpyrrolidine:AlCl3were found to be suitable for Al electrodeposition at room temperature（RT）.Uniform and thick（ mm thick） layers of Al were obtained on copper at *** deposition occured from the cationic species of AlCl3xLty（where x r 2,y ? 1–2,and L ? 1-butylpyrrolidine） in this *** behavior is contrary to the well investigated classic AlCl3based ionic liquids,where the deposition of Al occurs mainly from anionic Al2 Cl 7ions.

Vanishing bile duct syndrome (VbDS) refers to a group of disorders characterized by prolonged cholestasis as a result of destruction and disappearance ofintrahepatic bile ducts. Multiple etiologies have been indentifi ed including infections, neoplastic disorders, autoimmune conditions and drugs. The natural history of this condition is variable and may involve resolution of cholestasis or progression with irreversible damage. VbDS is extremely rare in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients and anti-retroviral therapy has never been implicated as a cause. We encountered a young pregnant female with HIV and VbDS secondary to anti-retroviral therapy. Here, we report her clinical course and outcome.

To enable a virtual design and optimization process of partially filled coolant tanks a reliable numerical approach is needed to predict the liquid and gas two phase flow inside the *** this study numerical results are validated by experimental data to examine the suitability of the method for the tank design *** liquid motion inside the tanks can be described as sloshing with high amplitude,off-resonant roll excitation and was examined using a homogeneous multiphase model and VOF interface capturing approach as well as an experimental setup including piezoelectric pressure sensors and qualitative observation of the free *** effect of two vertical baffles on the maximum pressure and the position of phase interface was *** comparison between the computational and experimental results reveals that the numerical model tends to under predict the experimental peak pressures but resolves the liquid surface in close agreement with the experiments.

Nondispersive infrared(NDIR)spectroscopy is an important technology for highly accurate and maintenance-free sensing of gases,such as ethanol and carbon ***,NDIR spectroscopy systems are currently too expensive,e.g.,for consumer and automotive applications,as the infrared(IR)emitter is a critical but costly component of these ***,we report on a low-cost large-area IR emitter featuring a broadband emission spectrum suitable for small NDIR gas spectroscopy *** infrared emitter utilizes Joule heating of a Kanthal(FeCrAI)filament that is integrated in the base substrate using an automated high-speed wire bonding process,enabling simple and rapid formation of a long meander-shaped *** describe the critical infrared emitter characteristics,including the effective infrared emission spectrum,thermal frequency response,and power ***,we integrate the emitter into a handheld breath alcohol analyzer and show its operation in both laboratory and real-world settings,thereby demonstrating the potential of the emitter for future low-cost optical gas sensor applications.
