Hysteresis loops,energy products and magnetic moment distributions of perpendicularly oriented Nd2Fe(14)B/α-Fe exchange-spring multilayers are studied systematically based on both three-dimensional(3D)and one-dimensional(1D)micromagnetic methods,focused on the influence of the interface *** calculated results are carefully compared with each *** interface anisotropy effect is very palpable on the nucleation,pinning and coercive fields when the soft layer is very ***,as the soft layer thickness increases,the pinning and coercive fields are almost unchanged with the increment of interface anisotropy though the nucleation field still monotonically *** interface anisotropy decreases the maximum energy products and increases slightly the angles between the magnetization and applied *** magnetic moment distributions in the thickness direction at various applied fields demonstrate a progress of three-step magnetic reversal,i.e.,nucleation,evolution and irreversible motion of the domain *** above results calculated by two models are in good agreement with each ***,the in-plane magnetic moment orientations based on two models are *** 3D calculation shows a progress of generation and disappearance of vortex state,however,the magnetization orientations within the film plane calculated by the 1D model are *** results suggest that negative interface anisotropy is necessarily avoided experimentally.

磁性材料在日常生活中变得越来越重要,广泛地运用在车、手机和电脑中。其中,交换偏置和交换弹簧是纳米复合磁体中出现的两个有趣的物理现象,有着很重要的应用前景。前者出现在交换耦合的铁磁/反铁磁体系,而后者出现在硬磁/软磁复合体系。因为硬磁相提供的较大矫顽力(Hc)与软磁相提供的较大剩磁(Mr),所以交换弹簧体系的主要特性是其具有较高的最大磁能积((BH)max)。由于交换偏置里面的铁磁/反铁磁耦合作用,该体系的磁滞回线从起始点发生偏移。本论文基于微磁学计算方法,运用OOMMF软件和Fortran程序来研究Nd2Fel4B/Fe65Co35和Nd2Fe14B/α-Fe交换弹簧体系的磁特性。对NiFe/FeMn交换偏置体系的研究基于一个总自由能量方程,根据合理的边界条件可得出其磁滞回线和其它磁特性。主要研究如下：***2Fe14B/Fe65Co35体系的软磁相厚度影响的研究,以及Nd2Fe14B/α-Fe体系的易轴分布和界面扩散影响的研究。我们发现软磁相越厚,饱和磁化强度越高,而矫顽力和剩磁越低。在交换弹簧体系,我们发现易轴分布和界面扩散是不可避免的现象,因此在计算最大磁能积时要考虑到它们的影响。2.两个基于能量极小值原理的交换偏置理论模型(Mauri模型和HIDW模型)的计算模拟,由此可得出NiFe/FeMn体系的磁滞回线以及与实验值的比较。我们也比较了这两个模型的能量极小值曲线。在HIDW模型里面,清晰地表示出了铁磁相畴壁的厚度随外场强度的变化情况。

Liver transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma： is zero recurrence theoretically possible？

BACKGROUND： Hepatocellular carcinoma（HCC） recurrence remains a key issue after liver transplantation. This study aimed to determine a subgroup of HCC patients within the Milan criteria who could achieve a theoretical goal of zero recurrence rates after liver ***： Between 1999 and 2009, 179 patients who received liver transplantation for HCC within the Milan criteria were retrospectively included. Analysis of the factors associated with HCC recurrence was performed to determine the subgroup of patients at the lowest risk of ***： Seventy-two percent of the patients received a bridging therapy, including 54 liver resections. Eleven（6.1%） patients recurred within a delay of 19±22 months and ultimately died. Factors associated with recurrence were serum alpha-fetoprotein level 〉400 ng/m L, satellite nodules, poor differentiation, microvascular invasion and cholangiocarcinoma component. Recurrence rates decreased from 6.1% to 3.1% in patients without any of these ***： Among HCC patients within the Milan criteria, selecting patients with factors based on histology would allow tending towards zero recurrence, and prior histological assessment by liver biopsy or resection may be essential to rule out poorly differentiated tumors, microvascular invasion,and cholangiocarcinoma component.

Metabolic syndrome and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in liver surgery: The new scourges?

The aim of this topic highlight is to review relevant evidence regarding the influence of the metabolic syndrome(MS) and its associated liver manifestation, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD), on the development of liver cancer as well as their impact on the results of major liver surgery. MS and NAFLD, whose incidences are significantly increasing in Western countries, are leading to a changing profile of the patients undergoing liver surgery. A MEDLINE search was performed for relevant articles using the key words "metabolic syndrome", "liver resection", "liver transplantation", "non alcoholic fatty liver disease", "non-alcoholic steatohepatitis" and "liver cancer". On one hand, the MS favors the development of primary liver malignancies(hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma)either through NAFLD liver parenchymal alterations(steatosis, steatohepatitis, fibrosis) or in the absence of significant underlying liver parenchyma changes. Also, the existence of NAFLD may have a specific impact on colorectal liver metastases recurrence. On the other hand, the postoperative period following partial liver resection and liver transplantation is at increased risk of both postoperative complications and mortality. These deleterious effects seem to be related to the existence of liver specific complications but also higher cardio-vascular sensitivity in a setting of MS/NAFLD. Finally, the long-term prognosis after curative surgery joins that of patients operated on with other types of underlying liver diseases. An increased rate of patients with MS/NAFLD referred to hepatobiliary units has to be expected. The higher operative risk observed in this subset of patients will require specific improvements in their perioperative management.

Regulation of Breast Cancer Progression by Phosphorylation of the Tumor Suppressor Tropomyosin-1 Alpha

Background: Tropomyosin 1 alpha chain (Tm1) is an actin-binding protein that regulates the endothelial cell response to oxidative stress following its phosphorylation at Serine 283 (S283). Tm1 is also a major tumor suppressor in breast cancer. In the present study, we investigated the role of phosphorylation of Tm1 in regulating its tumor suppressor properties. Methods: MDA MB231 breast cancer cells stably overexpressing wild type form of Tm1 or Tm1 mutants (S283A and S283E) were generated. Proliferation and cell viability were assayed by means of the enzymatic cleavage of the tetrazolium salt WST-1 to formazan dye by cellular mitochondrial dehydrogenases. Adhesion assays were performed at various periods of time on cells grown on plastic. Cell migration was evaluated by using the wound-healing assay and by measuring transendothelial migration of cancer cells. Malignant transformation in vitro was determined by using the anchorage-independent growth assay on soft agar. Results: We found that cells expressing the phosphomimetic form of Tm1 S283E/Tm1 are characterized by an increased adhesion to the substratum. Moreover, the migration of MDA-MB231/S283E/Tm1 cells in a wound closure assay is reduced compared to parental cells or those expressing the non-phosphorylatable form of Tm1 (S283A). Similarly, the transendothelial migration of MDA-MB231/S283E/Tm1 cells is also reduced as compared to the other cell lines. Moreover, we found that the cells expressing the S283A mutants form more colonies in soft agar that those expressing the S283E mutants. Conclusion: Phosphorylation of Tm1 at Ser283 contributes to its anti-tumor properties, and this effect results mainly from an increase in cell adhesion associated with a decrease in their migratory and invasive potentials.

With the increase of gas consumption and the expansion of the associated distribution network, Gaz de France set up a research program to develop a methodology and a library of models to study the stability of any type of pressure regulator. The pressure level is controlled by pressure regulating stations. The objective of this study is to point out the working conditions that lead to instabilities. Some experiments and numerical simulations have been carried out to identify the relative influence of several parameters on the amplitude of oscillations. It turned out from measurements and simulations that the amplitudes of the downstream pressure are especially sensitive to the upstream pressure and to the size of the downstream volume.

The phenomenon called “flashover” or “eruptive fire” in forest fires is characterized by a sudden change in fire behavior: everything seems to burst into flames instantly and firefighters are overwhelmed by a sort of eruption, spreading at a speed at far several meters per second. Unfortunately it has cost several lives in the past. The reasons for such an accident always create controversy in the research field. Different theories are highlighted and especially two major axes are currently subject to discussion because they are very popular among people involved in fire-fighting. The one with regard to VOCs emissions is the best-known among firemen. Under great heat, during summer or with a fire approaching, plants emit VOCs and the more the temperature grows, the more the amount of VOCs emitted grows. Under specific conditions (essentially topographical, meteorological and atmospheric), the cloud of gas can accumulate in an appropriate zone. The concentration of VOCs may therefore reach the Lower Explosive Limit, triggering the burst of the cloud when in contact with the fire. The second theory depends on physical considerations. An example is based on a convective flow created by the fire itself. When a fire spreads on a slope, it creates an aspiration phenomenon in a way to supply the fire with oxygen. The more this phenomenon is important, the more the flames tilt and increase the rate of speed, needing even more oxygen and thus induced flow. This vicious circle can stabilize or have an erratic behavior to trigger off a fire eruption. This article presents these two theories, and especially the new advances on this research subject.

Are There Early Clinical Factors to Decide Early Surgical Management for Secondary Chylothorax? A Review of 32 Cases

Background: Chylothorax may be primary (spontaneous) or secondary and more often arising as a postoperative complication of thoracic surgery. It occurs when the thoracic duct or its lymphatic tributaries become blocked or perforated or divided resulting in a chylous pleural effusion. Loss of chyle leads to nutritional deficiencies, dehydration, ionic perturbation and lymphocytes leaks thus increasing the vulnerability for infections and respiratory dysfunction. It is a life-threatening complication increasing the postoperative hospital stay. Management of chylothorax is firstly medical which leads to the cessation of leaks in most of the cases. Surgical treatment by thoracic duct ligation is sometimes necessary after failure of medical treatment. The appropriate time for surgical treatment is a subject of controversy. Methods: Reviewing a series of patients treated between 2000 to 2010 in a single center with the same protocol management, the aim of the study was to identify early clinical variables allowing early surgical treatment in postoperative chylothorax. Results: Thirty-two patients were identified in the study period. There were 21 males (65.6%) and 11 females (34.4%) with a mean age of 55.7 years (range from 9 to 79 years) (Table 1). Twenty-two patients (68.75%) had chylothorax after a surgical intervention, seven patients (21.8%) had chylothorax due to medical causes and three patients (9.3%) after chest trauma. Thirty-eight percent of patients treated conservatively were after lung cancer resection and 35% of patients treated surgically where after esophageal resection. Chylothorax was stopped in 33% of patients after lymphangiography. Cumulative leak per day was 1007 ml/day for operated patients and 397 ml/day for patient treated conservatively. Esophageal resection surgery and the amount of fluid leak were the two factors founded to be associated for the decision of an earlier surgical treatment. Early Postoperative Anticoagulation by Enoxaparin after Mechanical Aortic Valve Replacement

Background: The use of low molecular weight heparin for early anticoagulation after mechanical aortic valve replacement is still a matter of debate even more that the early postoperative phase is associated with maximum of thrombo-embolic and bleeding risks. The objective of this study is to verify the efficacy and the safety of low molecular weight heparin for the early anticoagulation after mechanical aortic valve replacement. Methods and Results: It is a prospective study conducted over 6 months and interested 40 consecutive patients (32 male and 8 female) with a mean age 53.83 ± 16.93 years (19-75 years) who underwent a mechanical aortic valve replacement and received enoxaparin as bridging therapy between continuous unfractionated heparin and fully effective vitamin K antagonist therapy. There was no in-hospital death and no in-hospital thromboembolic events. We report 2 major bleeding events (5%). Conclusion: The use of low molecular weight heparin should be an alternative to explore for early anticoagulation after valve heart surgery and the results of our study must be verified by large randomized studies before drawing any hasty conclusions.
