Besshi-type mineral systems in the Palaeoproterozoic Bryah Rift-Basin, Capricorn Orogen, Western Australia： Implications for tectonic setting and geodynamic evolution

In this contribution we use VMS mineral systems in the Bryah rift-basin to constrain the tectonic setting of the widespread mafic and ultramafic magmatism that characterises the rift-basin in *** distinct,but temporally closely associated,lithostratigraphic sequences,Narracoota and Karalundi Formations,are *** Karalundi Formation is the main host of VMS mineral systems in the *** Karalundi Formation consists of turbiditic and immature clastic sediments,which are locally intercalated with basaltic hyaloclastites,dolerites and banded *** propose that the basaltic hyaloclastites,dolerites and elastics and jaspilites rocks,form a distinct unit of the Karalundi Formation,named Noonyereena *** VMS mineral systems occur near the north-east trendingJenkin Fault and comprise the giant and world-class DeCrussa and the Red Bore *** nature of these deposits and their intimate association with terrigenous clastic rocks and dominantly marine mafic volcanic and subvolcanic rocks,as well as the common development of peperitic margins,are considered indicative of a Besshi-type environment,similar to that of present-day Gulf of *** Re-Os age data from a primary pyrite yielded a mean model age of 2012 ± 48 Ma,which coincides（within error） with recent published Re-Os data（Hawke et al.,2015） and confirms the timing of the proposed geodynamic *** propose a geodynamic model that attempts to explain the presence of the Narracoota and Karalundi Formations as the result of mantle plume activity,which began with early uplift of continental crust with intraplate volcanism,followed by early stages of rifting with the deposition of the Karalundi Formation（and Noonyereena Member）,which led to the formation of Besshi-type VMS *** on-going mantle plume activity and early stages of continental separation,an oceanic plateau was formed and is now represented by mafic-ultramafic rocks of the Narracoota Formation.

Influence of main dietary chemical constituents on the in vitro gas and methane production in diets for dairy cows

Background： Modification of chemical composition of diets fed to dairy cows might be a good strategy to reduce methane（CH4） production in the rumen. Notable reductions of CH4 production compared to conventional highroughages rations were more frequently observed for very concentrated diets or when fat supplements were used. In these cases, the reduction in the gas emission was mainly a consequence of an overall impairment of rumen function with a reduction of fiber digestibility. These strategies do not always comply with feeding standards used in intensive dairy farms and they are usually not applied owing to the risks of negative health and economic ***, the present study evaluated the effects of seven commercial diets with contents of neutral detergent fiber（NDF）,protein and lipids ranging 325 to 435 g/kg DM, 115 to 194 g/kg DM, and 26 to 61 g/kg DM, respectively, on in vitro degradability, gas（GP）, and CH4 ***： In this experiment, changes in the dietary content of NDF, crude protein（CP） and lipids were always obtained at the expense or in favor of starch. A decreased of the dietary NDF content increased NDF（NDFd） and true DM（TDMd） degradability, and increased CH4 production per g of incubated DM（P 〈 0.001）, but not that per g of TDMd. An increase of the dietary CP level did not change in vitro NDFd and TDMd, decreased GP per g of incubated DM（P 〈 0.001）, but CH4 production per g of TDMd was not affected. An increased dietary lipid content reduced NDFd, TDMd,and GP per g of incubated DM, but it had no consequence on CH4 production per g of ***： It was concluded that, under commercial conditions, changes in dietary composition would produce small or negligible alterations of CH4 production per unit of TDMd, but greater differences in GP and CH4 production would be expected when these amounts are expressed per unit of DM intake. Computed tomography colonography(CTC) in colorectal cancer(CRC) screening has two roles:one present and the other *** present role is,without any further discussion,the integration into established screening programs as a replacement for barium enema in the case of incomplete *** potential role is the use of CTC as a first-line screening method together with Fecal Occult Blood Test,sigmoidoscopy and ***,despite the fact that CTC has been officially endorsed for CRC screening of average-risk individuals by different scientif ic societies including the American Cancer Society,the American College of Radiology,and the US Multisociety Task Force on Colorectal Cancer,other entities,such as the US Preventive Services Task Force,have considered the evidence insuff icient to justify its use as a mass screening *** has also recently denied reimbursement for CTC as a screening ***,multiple advantages exist for using CTC as a CRC screening test:high accuracy,full evaluation of the colon in virtually all patients,non-invasiveness,safety,patient comfort,detection of extracolonic findings and *** main potential drawback of a CTC screening is the exposure to ionizing ***,this is not a major issue,since low-dose protocols are now routinely implemented,delivering a dose comparable or slightly superior to the annual radiation exposure of any *** evidence exists that such a radiation exposure does not induce additional cancers.

The introduction of species is a leading cause of biodiversity loss and habitat *** species have invaded Mexican freshwater ecosystems,adversely affecting native ***,in the Amacuzac River of the Balsas Basin(Central Mexico),at least four non-native cichlids have been recorded:tilapia Oreochromis sp.,convict cichlid Amatitlania nigrofasciata,spotcheek cichlid Thorichthys maculipinnis,and green terror Andinoacara *** species co-occur with the Mexican mojarra Amphilophus istlanus,the only native cichlid in the *** cichlids compete for resources such as shelter and food,and prey on offspring of the Mexican *** the presence of invasive cichlids,the costs and risks of foraging and finding available shelter increase for the native *** pressure from invasive cichlid fishes on the Mexican mojarra increases the time invested by parents in caring for offspring and their stress levels,potentially contributing to Mexican mojarra population ***,we gathered the best evidence available to discuss some mechanisms and consequences of such co-occurrences in relation to reproductive behaviors,parental care,competition for resources,and dominance hierarchy,and how the four invasive cichlids have negatively affected the Mexican mojarra.

Parasitoid wasp communities of the canopy of temperate forests are still largely unexplored. Very little is known about the community composition ofparasitoids between canopy and understory and how much of this difference is related to forest structure or parasitoid biological strategies. In this study we investigated upon the difference in the community composition of the parasitic wasps Ichneumonidae between canopy and understory in a lowland temperate forest in northern Italy. We used general linear models to test whether parasitic strategy modifies species vertical stratification and the effect of forest structure. We also tested differences in β-diversity between canopy and understory traps and over time within single forest layers. We found that stand basal area was positively related to species richness, suggesting that the presence of mature trees can influence local wasp diversity, providing a higher number of microhabitats and hosts. The ichneumonid community of the canopy was different from that of the understory, and theβ-diversity analysis showed higher values for the canopy, due to a higher degree of species turnover between traps. In our analyses, the vertical stratification was different between groups of ichneumonids sharing different parasitic strategies. Idiobiont parasitoids of weakly or deeply concealed hosts were more diverse in the understory than in the canopy while parasitoids of spiders were equally distributed between the two layers. Even though the ichneumonid community was not particularly species-rich in the canopy of the temperate forests, the extension of sampling to that habitat significantly increased the number of species recorded.

The radioactive particle tracking technique was used to study the effect of internal ring baffles on wet agglomerate motion inside a cold flow recirculating fluidized bed. The study found that using such a baffle on its own or above the regular sheds helps reduce the fouling of the stripper section by increasing the residence time that the agglomerates spend above the baffle, thereby reducing the release of the vapors below the baffles that cause fouling of the sheds. Adding down-comers, or flux tubes, to the ring baffles degrades the performance of the baffles, Reducing the length of the flux tubes, so that they do not reach the bottom of the baffle lip results in a further degradation in baffle performance.
