Switchgrass Biochar Effects on Plant Biomass and Microbial Dynamics in Two Soils from Different Regions

Biochar amendments to soils may alter soil function and fertility in various ways, including through induced changes in the microbial community. We assessed microbial activity and community composition of two distinct clayey soil types, an Aridisol from colorado （cO） in the U.S. central Great Plains, and an Alfisol from Virginia （VA） in the southeastern USA following the application of switchgrass （Panicum virgatum） biochar. The switchgrass biochar was applied at four levels, 0%,0, 2.5%, 5%, and 10%, approximately equivalent to biochar additions of 0, 25, 50, and 100 t ha^-1, respectively, to the soils grown with wheat （Triticum aestivum） in an eight-week growth chamber experiment. We measured wheat shoot biomass and nitrogen （n） content and soil nutrient availability and n mineralization rates, and characterized the microbial fatty acid methyl ester （FAME） profiles of the soils. net n mineralization rates decreased in both soils in proportion to an increase in biochar levels, but the effect was more marked in the VA soil, where net n mineralization decreased from -2.1 to -38.4 mg kg^-1. The 10% biochar addition increased soil pH, electrical conductivity, Mehlich- and bicarbonate-extractable phosphorus （P）, and extractable potassium （K） in both soil types. The wheat shoot biomass decreased from 17.7 to 9.1 g with incremental additions of biochar in the cO soil, but no difference was noted in plants grown in the VA soil. The FAME recovery assay indicated that the switchgrass biochar addition could introduce artifacts in analysis, so the results needed to be interpreted with caution. non-corrected total FAME concentrations indicated a decline by 457o and 34% with 10% biochar addition in the cO and VA soils, respectively, though these differences became nonsignificant when the extraction efficiency correction factor was applied. Our previous studies have reported that activation of the nLRP3(nOD-,LRR-and pyrin domain-containing protein 3)-inflammasome complex in ethanol-treated astrocytes and chronic alcohol-fed mice could be associated with neuroinflammation and brain *** stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles(MSc-EVs)have been shown to restore the neuroinflammatory response,along with myelin and synaptic structural alterations in the prefrontal cortex,and alleviate cognitive and memory dysfunctions induced by binge-like ethanol treatment in adolescent *** the therapeutic role of the molecules contained in mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles,the present study analyzed whether the administration of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles isolated from adipose tissue,which inhibited the activation of the nLRP3 inflammasome,was capable of reducing hippocampal neuroinflammation in adolescent mice treated with binge *** demonstrated that the administration of mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles ameliorated the activation of the hippocampal nLRP3 inflammasome complex and other nLRs inflammasomes(e.g.,pyrin domain-containing 1,caspase recruitment domain-containing 4,and absent in melanoma 2,as well as the alterations in inflammatory genes(interleukin-1β,interleukin-18,inducible nitric oxide synthase,nuclear factor-kappa B,monocyte chemoattractant protein-1,and c–X3–c motif chemokine ligand 1)and miRnAs(miR-21a-5p,miR-146a-5p,and miR-141-5p)induced by binge-like ethanol treatment in adolescent *** analysis further revealed the involvement of miR-21a-5p and miR-146a-5p with inflammatory target genes and nOD-like receptor signaling *** together,these findings provide novel evidence of the therapeutic potential of MSc-derived EVs to ameliorate the hippocampal neuroinflammatory response associated with nLRP3 inflammasome activation induced by binge drinking in adolescence.

We study the Banach-Lie group Ltaut（A） of Lie triple automorphisms of a complex associative H^＊-algebra A. Some consequences about its Lie algebra, the algebra of Lie triple derivations of A, Ltder（A）, are obtained. For a topologically simple A, in the infinite-dimensional case we have Ltaut（A）0 = Aut（A） implying Ltder（A） = Der（A）. In the finite-dimensional case Ltaut（A）0 is a direct product of Aut（A） and a certain subgroup of Lie derivations δ from A to its center, annihilating commutators.

On Integrable Roots in Split Lie Triple Systems

We focus on the notion of an integrable root in the framework of split Lie triple systems T with a coherent 0-root space. As a main result, it is shown that if T has all its nonzero roots integrable, then its standard embedding is a split Lie algebra having all its nonzero roots integrable. As a consequence, a local finiteness theorem for split Lie triple systems, saying that whenever all nonzero roots of T are integrable then T is locally finite, is stated. Finally, a classification theorem for split simple Lie triple systems having all its nonzero roots integrable is given.

The Iberian hare(Lepus granatensis)is a widely distributed endemic species in the Iberian *** improve our knowledge of its population dynamics,the relative abundance and population trends of the Iberian hare were studied in the autumns of 1995-2012 in a protected area(Doñana national Park)by spotlighting in 2 different habitats:marshland and *** average relative abundance was 0.38 hare/km(SD=0.63)in the marshland and 3.6 hares/km(SD=4.09)in *** Iberian hare population exhibited local interannual fluctuations and a negative population trend during the study period(1995-2012).The results suggest that its populations are in *** flooding of parts of the marshland in June,July and October favor hare abundance in the *** abundance in the marshland increases as the flooded surface area increases in *** effects are more pronounced if the rains are early(October)and partially flood the *** contrast,when marsh grasses and graminoids are very high and thick(as measured using the aerial herbaceous biomass[biomass marshland]as a proxy),the abundance of hares decreases dramatically as does the area of the marsh that is flooded(in november).

Airborne bacteria associated with particulate matter from a highly urbanised metropolis:A potential risk to the population’s health
