Aim: The aim is to iden.ify the c.mmon.bac.eria that c.use SSI in.orthopaedic.implan. surgeries in.our hospital. Method: This is a prospec.ive lon.itudin.l study that in.ludes all orthopaedic.surgeries in.olvin. the use of implan.s within.on. year. Patien.s that had major orthopaedic.surgeries in.olvin. implan. were followed up an. their woun.s in.pec.ed for sign. of SSI on.postoperative days 3, 7, 14, 42 an. 90. Woun. swab was taken.for mic.osc.py, c.lture an. sen.itivity an.lysis from those who had woun. in.ec.ion. based on.the c.c.guidelin.s. Results: On.-hun.red an. sixteen.patien.s met our in.lusion.c.iteria an. were in.luded in.the an.lysis. There were 62 males an. 54 females. The mean.age of the partic.pan. was 39.62 years (SD = 15.02 years). Frac.ure fixation.with plates an. sc.ews was the most c.mmon.implan. surgery don.. The in.iden.e of SSI was 2.6%, an. Esc.eric.ia c.li was the most c.mmon.isolated pathogen. All the SSIs were superfic.al in.ision.l type, an. the in.ec.ion.was mon.mic.obial in.67% of c.ses an. polymic.obial in.33%. All of the isolated pathogen. were sen.itive to Imipen.m an. Gen.amyc.n. c.n.lusion. Superfic.al in.ision.l SSI is the most c.mmon.type of SSI in.this study. Esc.eric.ia c.li is the most frequen. pathogen.in.SSI affec.in. implan. surgeries in.our hospital. Gen.amyc.n.an. Imipen.m should be used for the prophylaxis of SSI in.our en.iron.en..

Bac.groun.: Surgic.l site in.ec.ion.(SSI) is a dreaded n.ghtmare for the Orthopaedic.surgeon. Preoperative skin.c.ean.n. with an.iseptic. has been.shown.to reduc. the mic.obial burden.of the skin.an. results in.reduc.d in.iden.e of SSI. However, the ideal skin.c.ean.n. agen. remain. to be established. Aim: To c.mpare the effic.c. of Povidon.-Iodin./Povidon.-Iodin. (PI-PI) c.mbin.tion.with that of c.lorhexidin.-Gluc.n.te/Alc.hol (c.-A) c.mbin.tion.in.re-duc.n. SSI in.Orthopaedic.surgeries. Methods: This was a prospec.ive, ran.omized, double-blin.ed, c.n.rolled study. Subjec.s that met the selec.ion.c.iteria an. gave c.n.en. were ran.omized in.o PI-PI group (test group) an. the c.-A group (c.n.rol group). Both the patien.s an. the assessors for SSI were blin.ed to the group a partic.pan. belon.s. Bloc.in. was don. on.the type of surgery to c.n.el the c.n.oun.in. effec. of surgery type on.SSI. Stan.ard perioperative protoc.ls were applied to both groups. Assessmen. for features of SSI was don. on.the 3rd day, 7th day, 14th day, 6th week an. 12th-week postoperative period. The diagn.sis of SSI was made based on.the c.n.ers for Disease an. c.n.rol (c.c. guidelin.s. Results: We rec.uited 124 patien.s for this study, 62 males an. 54 females. The mean.age of the subjec.s was 37.5 years (SD = 14.7 years). Sixty-two subjec.s were ran.omized in.o eac. group. There was n. sign.fic.n. differen.e in.the distribution.of the gen.ers in.the study arms. Other possible c.n.oun.ers suc. as duration.of hospital stay, use of drain., the surgeon.in.olved an. age were even.y distributed in.the two groups. Eight patien.s did n.t c.mplete the study. The overall in.iden.e of SSI in.the study was 2.6%. Subjec.s in.the c.n.rol group had an.SSI of 3.4% while those in.the PI-PI group had a rate of 1.8%;however, this was n.t sign.fic.n., p = 0.579. c.n.lusion. Both c.-A an. PI-PI c.mbin.tion. are equally effic.c.ous as preoperative skin.an.iseptic.in.Orthopaedic.implan. surgeries.

AIM: To detec. pan.reatic.n.uroen.oc.in. tumors (Pn.Ts) has been.varied. This study is un.ertaken.to evaluate the ac.urac. of en.osc.pic.ultrasoun. (EUS) in.detec.in. ***: On.y EUS studies c.n.irmed by surgery or appropriate follow-up were selec.ed. Artic.es were searc.ed in.Medlin., Ovid journ.ls, Medlin. n.n.n.exed c.tation., an. c.c.ran. c.n.ral Register of c.n.rolled Trials an. Database of Systematic.Reviews. Poolin. was c.n.uc.ed by both fixed an. ran.om effec.s model). RESULTS: In.tial searc. iden.ified 2610 referen.e artic.es, of these 140 relevan. artic.es were selec.ed an. reviewed. Data was extrac.ed from 13 studies (n.= 456) whic. met the in.lusion.c.iteria. Pooled sen.itivity of EUS in.detec.in. a Pn.Ts was 87.2% (95%c.: 82.2-91.2). EUS had a pooled spec.fic.ty of 98.0% (95%c.: 94.3-99.6). The positive likelihood ratio of EUS was 11.1 (95%c.: 5.34-22.8) an. n.gative likelihood ratio was 0.17 (95%c.: 0.13-0.24). The diagn.stic.odds ratio, the odds of havin. an.tomic.Pn.Ts in.positive as c.mpared to n.gative EUS studies was 94.7 (95%c.: 37.9-236.1). Begg-Mazumdar bias in.ic.tor for public.tion.bias gave a Ken.all's tau value of 0.31 (P = 0.16), in.ic.tion.n. public.tion.bias. The P for χ2 heterogen.ity for all the pooled ac.urac. estimates was > 0.10. c.n.LUSIOn. EUS has exc.llen. sen.itivity an. spec.fic.ty to detec. Pn.Ts. EUS should be stron.ly c.n.idered for evaluation.of Pn.Ts.
