Obj.ctive: To explore anti-hyperalgesic properties of methanol extract of Piptadeniastrum africanum stem bark(PAME) and it possible action mechanism. Methods: PAME was tested on carrageenan ?induced hyperalgesia using plantar test(thermal) and analgesymeter(mechanical) in rats, on prostaglandin E_2(PGE_2) induced mechanical hyperalgesia and vincristine induced neuropathic pain in rat, both with analgesymeter. Modulators of NO/cG MP/K^+ channel pathway and endogenous opioids receptor antagonists and/or agonists were used to determine the possible action mechanism of PAME. Results: PAME significantly decreased carrageenan induced thermal and mechanical hyperalgesia, as well as PGE_2 induced mechanical hyperalgesia. PAME significantly protected the animals against the installation of neuropathic pain. Anti-nociception activity produced by PAME was significantly blocked in animals pre?treated with all the antagonists(naloxone, NW-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester(L-NAME), methylene blue and glibenclamide). Conclusions: Results of this study reveal that, PAME administrate orally, can induce anti-hyperalgesic action against installation of inflammatory pain as well as neuropathic pain. The mechanism underlying PAME antihyperalgesic effect could probably be associated with an activation of opioid receptors and NO/cG MP/K^+ channel pathway.

We have used the ShenguangⅡlaser in third harmonic(351 nm)to investigate the emission of L-shell radiation in the 3.3–4.4 ke V range generated using thin foils of Sn coated onto a parylene substrate with irradiation of order 1015 W cm-2 and nanosecond pulse *** our experiment,we have concentrated on assessing the emission on the non-laser irradiated side as this allows an experimental geometry relevant to experiments on photo-ionised plasmas where a secondary target must be placed close to the source,to achieve x-ray fluxes appropriate to astrophysical *** L-shell conversion efficiencies are estimated to be of order 1%,with little dependence on Sn thickness between 400 and 800 nm.

Relationship between apparent redox potential discontinuity (aRPD) depth and environmental variables in soft-sediment habitats

As global temperatures increase and dissolved oxygen(DO) content decreases in marine systems, indices assessing sediment DO content in benthic habitats are becoming increasingly useful. One such measure is the depth to the apparent redox potential discontinuity(aRPD), a transition of sediment color that serves as a relative measure of sediment DO content. We examined spatiotemporal variation of aRPD depth, and the nature of the relationships between aRPD depth and biotic(infauna and epibenthic predators) and abiotic variables(sediment properties), as well as the availability of resources(chlorophyll a concentration, and organic matter content) in the intertidal mudflats of the Bay of Fundy, Canada. aRPD depth varied significantly through space and time, and a combination of biotic(sessile and errant infauna, as well as epibenthic predators), and abiotic(exposure time of a plot, sediment particle size,penetrability, and water content) variables, as well as the availability of resources(sediment organic matter content, and chlorophyll a concentration) were correlated with aRPD depth. As such, knowledge of both biotic and abiotic variables are required for a holistic understanding of sediment DO *** variables likely dictate a suite of potential aRPD depth conditions, while biota and resource availability, via bioturbation and respiration, strongly influence the observed aRPD depth. As DO conditions in marine systems will continue to change due to global climate change, elucidating these relationships are a key first step in predicting the influence decreasing DO content may have upon marine benthos.

Biosensors featuring single molecule detection present huge opportunities as well as challenges in food safety inspection,disease diagnosis,and environmental ***-molecule detection is largely lacking of high enough activity,precision molecule selectivity,and understanding in the exact operating ***-atom catalysts(SACs),especially those metals-nitrogen-carbon that mimic the natural metalloenzyme structure,and with well-defined metal atom bond configurations,high level of molecular selectivity,and easy fabrication,endow single molecule detections with practical-use *** recent advances in single-atom catalysts also present new pathways in the key mechanism *** this short review,we will first visit the brief history and advantages of SACs that have been explored only recently for molecule-scale biosensors,where they are analogous and also differentiated from those nanozymes and natural *** applications in electrochemical,photochemical,and photoelectrochemical sensors are then discussed comprehensively by focusing on the different molecule-scale sensing modes in achieving local coordination-modulated signal ***,we identify new opportunities and challenges faced by these SACs-based single molecule detections in the further development of biosensors.

Current state of laparoscopic parastomal hernia repair:A meta-analysis

AIM:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the laparoscopic approaches for parastomal hernia repair reported in the ***:A systematic review of PubMed and MEDLINE databases was conducted using various combination of the following keywords:stoma repair,laparoscopic,parastomal,and *** reports,studies with less than 5 patients,and articles not written in English were *** studies were further scrutinized with the 2011 levels of evidence from the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based *** authors reviewed and analyzed each *** there was any discrepancy between scores,the study in question was referred to another author.A meta-analysis was performed using both random and fixed-effect *** bias was evaluated using Begg's funnel plot and Egger's regression *** primary outcome analyzed was recurrence of parastomal *** outcomes were mesh infection,surgical site infection,obstruction requiring reoperation,death,and other *** were grouped by operative technique where *** for recurrence,most postoperative morbidities were reported for the overall cohort and not by approach so they were analyzed across ***:Fifteen articles with a total of 469 patients were deemed eligible for *** postoperative morbidities were reported for the overall cohort,and not by *** overall postoperative morbidity rate was 1.8%(95%CI:0.8-3.2),and there was no difference between *** most common postoperative complication was surgical site infection,which was seen in 3.8%(95%CI:2.3-5.7).Infected mesh was observed in 1.7%(95%CI:0.7-3.1),and obstruction requiring reoperation also occurred in 1.7%(95%CI:0.7-3.0).Other complications such as ileus,pneumonia,or urinary tract infection were noted in16.6%(95%CI:11.9-22.1).Eighty-one recurrences were reported overall for a recurrence rate of 17.4%(95%CI:9.5-26.9).The recurrence rate was 10.2%(95%CI:3.9-19.0) for the modif

Rice Yield and Yield Components as Influenced by Phosphorus and Nitrogen Application Rates in the Moist Savanna of West Africa

A two-year field experiment was conducted to evaluate the influence of nitrogen （0, 30, 60, and 120 kg N ha^-1） and phosphorus （0, 30, and 60 kg P2O5 ha^-1） application on grain yield and yield components of five New Rice for Africa （NERICA） cultivars, their parents, and a check on a degraded soil in the moist savanna of Nigeria. Nerica 14 recorded the highest grain yield of 1.3 mg halcompared to the other NERICA cultivars. It also produced significantly （P 〈 0.05） longer panicles （19.24 cm）, higher sink capacity as determined by thousand-kernel weight （30.3 g）, and a higher potential for partitioning photosynthates （45.15%） into grains than the other cultivars. N × P interaction effect on grain yield was significant （P 〈 0.05） with moderate P （60 kg P2O5 ha^1） and moderate N （60 kg N ha^-1） resulting in optimum grain yield （1.7 mg ha^-1）. Thus, moderate N and P were recommended for the production of NERICA varieties in low-input smallholder upland rice production systems of the moist savanna of Nigeria.

Evaluation of the Gas Turbine Inlet Temperature with Relation to the Excess Air

This paper shows the effect of excess air on combustion gas temperature at turbine inlet, and how it determines power and thermal efficiency of a gas turbine at different pressure ratios and excess air. In such a way an analytic Equation that allows calculating the turbine inlet temperature as a function of excess air, pressure ratio and relative humidity is given. Humidity Impact on excess air calculation is also analyzed and presented. Likewise it is demonstrated that dry air calculations determine a higher level for calculations that can be performed on wet air.
