NO-cGMP-k.channel-dependent anti-nociceptive activities of methanol stem bark.extract of Piptadeniastrum africanum(Mimosaceae) on rats

Objective: To explore anti-hyperalgesic properties of methanol extract of Piptadeniastrum africanum stem bark.PAME) and it possible action mechanism. Methods: PAME was tested on carrageenan ?induced hyperalgesia using plantar test(thermal) and analgesymeter(mechanical) in rats, on prostaglandin E_2(PGE_2) induced mechanical hyperalgesia and vincristine induced neuropathic pain in rat, both with analgesymeter. Modulators of NO/cG MP/k.+ channel pathway and endogenous opioids receptor antagonists and/or agonists were used to determine the possible action mechanism of PAME. Results: PAME significantly decreased carrageenan induced thermal and mechanical hyperalgesia, as well as PGE_2 induced mechanical hyperalgesia. PAME significantly protected the animals against the installation of neuropathic pain. Anti-nociception activity produced by PAME was significantly block.d in animals pre?treated with all the antagonists(naloxone, NW-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester(L-NAME), methylene blue and glibenclamide). Conclusions: Results of this study reveal that, PAME administrate orally, can induce anti-hyperalgesic action against installation of inflammatory pain as well as neuropathic pain. The mechanism underlying PAME antihyperalgesic effect could probably be associated with an activation of opioid receptors and NO/cG MP/k.+ channel pathway.

Risk.of clinically significant prostate adenocarcinoma （CAP） varies worldwide,although there is a uniform prevalence of latent disease. A hormone-responsive tissue,the prostate possesses the metabolizing capacity to biotransform a variety of environmental procarcinogens or endogenous hormones. Whether such metabolizing capacity or estrogen receptor （ER） status underlies these demographic differences in susceptibility to CaP remains unclear. With appropriate ethical permission,verified-benign tissues were obtained following transurethral resection of the prostate from a high-risk.region （n = 12 Uk.resident Caucasians） and a typically low-risk.region （n = 14 India-resident Asians）. Quantitative gene expression analysis was employed for cytochrome P450 （CYP）1B1,N-acetyltransferase （NAT）1,NAT2,catechol-O-methyl transferase （ COMT）,sulfotransferase （ SULT） 1A1,ERα,ERβ and aromatase （CYP To quantify the presence or absence of CYP1B1,ERα or ERβ,and to identify ther in situ localization,immunohistochemistry was carried out. The two cohorts had reasonably well-matched serum levels of prostate-specific antigen or hormones. Expression levels for the candidate genes investigated were ***,clear differences in protein levels for CYP1B1 and ERβ were noted. Staining for CYP1B1 tended to be nuclear-associated in the basal glandular epithelial cells,and in Uk.resident Caucasian tissues was present at a higher （P = 0.006） level compared with that from India-resident Asians. In contrast,a higher level of positive ERβ staining was noted in prostates from India-resident Asians. These study findings point to differences in metabolizing capacity and ER status in benign prostate tissues that might modulate susceptibility to the emergence of clinically significant CaP in demographically distinct populations.

Drug resistance due to the extensive abuse and over-use of antibiotics has become an increasingly serious problem and researchers started to use plants as an alternative source of new antibiotics. The aim of the present study was to assess the antimicrobial properties of secondary metabolites isolated from A. liebrechtsiana. A new secoiridoid derivative, anthocleistenolide B (1), along with three k.own compounds, the monoterpene diol, djalonenol (2), the xanthone O-glycoside, decussatin 1-O-β-D-glucopyranoside and the fatty acid, dotriacontanoic acid (4) was isolated from the leaves and bark.of this plant. Their structures were elucidated by extensive analysis of spectroscopic (1D and 2D NMR) and mass spectrometric data. The isolated compounds were screened for their antimicrobial properties against five strains of bacteria (two gram positive: Staphylococcus aureus 29213, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 25922 and three gram negative: Escherichia coli ATCC51299, Proteus mirabilis (isolate), and Pseudomonas aeruginosa QC76110), but all were inactive.

Back.round: Dysgerminoma is a germ cell tumor of the ovary usually found in young women. It represents 1% to 2% of all ovarian cancers. The preoperative diagnosis is generally difficult. The surgery and the pathology study are therefore essential for the diagnosis, and optimal management. The incidence of pregnancy with dysgerminoma is extremely low. The treatment and management during pregnancy often jeopardize the materno-fetal prognosis. We report a case of ovarian dysgerminoma in an 18-year-old pregnant woman. Observation: Patient was an 18-year-old, female with no known past medical history, who presented to the emergency room at 29 weeks + 3 days pregnancy with dyspnea and a voluminous uterus (height 42 cm). An ultrasound showed an active pregnancy, and a large vascularized, finely echogenic, multi-partitioned, thick-walled liquid ovarian tumor. Ca125 was 231.5 IU/ml. Ovarian dysgerminoma was suspected. The surgery and the pathology study of the surgical specimen confirmed the suspected diagnosis. Patient died on postoperative day 8. Conclusion:

Singlet Oxygen Generation and Photoinduced Charge Separation of Tetra Polyethyleneglycol Functionalized Zinc Phthalocyanine-Fullerene Dyad

Utilization of polyethyleneglycol （PEG） functionalized zinc phthalocyanine, （PEG）4ZnPc in （i） singlet oxygen generation, and （ii） in building energy harvesting donor-acceptor systems using fullerene, C60 as an acceptor via the well-k.own metal-ligand axial coordination approach is reported. The （PEG）4ZnPe was found to be capable of producing singlet oxygen with a quantum yield, ooa of 0.77 in toluene, a value higher than that obtained for pristine （t-bu）4ZnPc （φ△=0.54） carrying no PEG groups, revealing its usefulness in photodynamic therapy applications. Spectroscopic studies revealed efficient binding of phenylimidazole functionalized fullerene, C60 Im with l ： 1 stoichiometry to （PEG）4ZnPc. Binding constant k.for the formation of （PEG）4ZnPc：ImC60 dyad was found to be 6 × 103 M 1 revealing moderate stability. Geometric and electronic studies of the dyad was arrived by B3LYP/3-21G（＊） method. The HOMO level was found to be on zinc phthalocyanine entity while the LUMO level was found to be on the C60 entity suggesting formation of （PEG）4ZnPc＊＋：ImC60＊ charge separated state during the process of electron transfer reaction. Redox studies on the （PEG）4ZnPc：ImC60 dyad enabled accurate determination of the oxidation and reduction potentials of the donor-acceptor system, and to evaluate free-energy changes associated for the charge separation process. k.netics of photoinduced charge separation and recombination in the （PEG）4ZnPc：ImC60 dyad was investigated using femtosecond transient absorption studies. Relatively long-lived charge separated states were confirmed for the dyad suggesting their potential usefulness in energy harvesting applications.

Previous studies show that the calculated loading effects from global ocean tide models do not match actual measurements of gravity attraction and loading effects in Southeast *** this paper,tak.ng advantage of a unique network.of gravity tidal stations all over the Chinese mainland,we compare the observed and modeled tidal loading effects on the basis of the most recent global ocean tide *** results show that the average efficiencies of the ocean tidal loading correction for O_(1),k.(1),M_(2) are 77%,7 s3%and 59%,*** loading correction efficiencies using recent ocean tidal models are better than the 40 years old Schwidersk.s model at coastal stations,but relative worse at stations far from ocean.

Catalytic Feedstock.Recycling of Polymers

This piece of study involves degradation of plastic waste in presence of two different catalysts. It was found in gas chromatography (GC) analysis results that in presence of these catalysts more than 80% of polymer by weight was converted into either liquid or gaseous hydrocarbons. These can be utilized as fuel or can be transformed into other useful products. Thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) analysis of polymers suggest that presence of these catalysts lowers degradation temperature and change mechanism of degradation.
