Red-emitting tetraphenylethylene derivative with aggregation-induced enhanced emission for luminescent solar concentrators:A combined experimental and density functional theory study

This study examines the use of an aggregation-induced enhanced emission fluorophore(TPE-mRh)to prepare red-emitting luminescent solar concentrators(LSCs)based on poly(methyl methacrylate)(PmmA)and poly(cyclohexyl methacrylate)(PCmA).TPE-mRh is a tetraphenylethylene(TPE)derivative bearing two dimethylamino push groups and a 3-methyl-rhodanine pull moiety,with absorption maxima at around 500 nm and fluorescence peak at 700 nm that strongly increases in ***-mRh displays a typical crystallizationinduced enhanced emission that has been rationalized by modeling the compound behavior in solution and solid-state via density functional theory calculations with the inclusion of the ***-mRh dispersed into 5×5 cm2 polymer films with a thickness of 25±5μm has revealed a partial fluorescence quenching with fluorophore *** yields(QYs)below 10%for the 2 wt.%of doping have been addressed to the formation of less emissive micro-sized clusters of *** slabs with the same surface size but 3 mm of thickness and 200 ppm of TPE-mRh have provided QY of 36.5%thanks to the attenuation of the detrimental effects of fluorophore *** feature is reflected in the LSCs performance,with devices achieving the largest power collected by the photovoltaic cell.

A statistical model for the design of rotary HTS flux pumps based on deep-learning neuron network

Rotory high temperature superconducting(HTS)flux pumps can consistently generate a DC voltage by rotating magnets over superconducting tapes,and thus energize the circuit if a closed loop is *** voltage output is a crucial factor to reflect the performance of such an HTS flux pump,which is determined by a set of design specifications,and some of them have been investigated extensively in the current ***,no work has been done yet to study the HTS dynamo output voltage by efficiently integrating all the design parameters *** this paper,a well‐trained deep‐learning neuron network(DNN)with back‐propagation algorithms has been put forward and *** proposed DNN is capable of quantifying the output voltage of an HTS dynamo instantly with an overall accuracy of approximately 98%with respect to the simulated values with all design parameters explicitly *** model possesses a powerful ability to characterize the output behavior of HTS dynamos by considering multiple design parameters,e.g.,airgap,superconductor tape width,operating frequency,remanent flux density,rotor radius,and permanent magnet width,which have covered all the typical design *** output characteristics of an HTS dynamo against each of the design parameters have been successfully demonstrated using this *** to conventional time‐consuming finite element method(FEm)based numerical models,the proposed DNN model has the advantages of automatic learning,fast computation,as well as strong *** the DNN model can greatly facilitate the design and optimization process for HTS *** executable application has been developed accordingly based on the DNN model,which is believed to provide a useful tool for learners and designers of HTS dynamos.

Efficient light harvesting from flexible perovskite solar cells under indoor white light-emitting diode illumination

This is the first report of an investigation on flexible perovskite solar cells for artificial light harvesting by using a white light-emitting diode （LED） lamp as a light source at 200 and 400 Ix, values typically found in indoor environments. Flexible cells were developed using either low-temperature sol-gel or atomic- layer-deposited compact layers over conducting polyethylene terephthalate （PET） substrates, together with ultraviolet （UV）-irradiated nanoparticle TiO2 scaffolds, a CH3NHBPbI3xClx perovskite semiconductor, and a spiro-meOTAD hole transport layer. By guaranteeing high-quality carrier blocking （via the 10-40 nm-thick com- pact layer） and injection （via the nanocrystalline scaffold and perovskite layers） behavior, maximum power conversion efficiencies （PCE） and power densities of 10.8% and 7.2 pW-cm-2, respectively, at 200 lx, and 12.1% and 16.0 -tW＇cm-2, respectively, at 400 lx were achieved. These values are the state-of-the-art, comparable to and even exceeding those of flexible dye-sensitized solar cells under LED lighting, and significantly greater than those for flexible amorphous silicon, which are currently the main flexible photovoltaic technologies commercially considered for indoor applications. Furthermore, there are significant margins of improvement for reaching the best levels of efficiency for rigid glass-based counterparts, which we found was a high of PCE -24% at 400 lx. With respect to rigid devices, flexibility brings the advantages of being low cost, lightweight, very thin, and COlfformal, which is especially important for seamless integration in indoor environments.

Some aspects on the sampling efficiency of microbial impaction air samplers

Indoor microbial monitoring is an important health issue in many sectors of society. In particular, it is important to monitor microbial concentrations in environments dealing with bio-susceptible products. many human diseases are related to high, undesired microbial airborne concentrations. However, the lack of a standardized and well-accepted methodology for testing and ranking the performance of microbial air samplers is a source of uncertainty in such measurements. Several works clearly show that results obtained from microbial air sampling depend largely on measuring techniques, especially the air sampiers＇ physical parameters, such as d50, as well as environmental conditions, sources, and concentrations of microbial organisms in the environment. Furthermore, personnel using cleanroom clothing can reduce the microbial burden within a clean environment. To evaluate this effect, we carried out experimental comparison tests in a cleanroom of class ISO 5 with different air samplers under various microbial concentration levels, generated by a human source dressed in different quality cleanroom clothing. Our results confirm that in addition to the measuring technique, cleanroorn clothing does influence microbial contamination, affecting air samoler measurements.

Geospatial information acquired with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAV)provides valuable decision-making support in many different domains,and technological advances coincide with a demand for ever more sophisticated data *** consequence is a research and development focus on more accurately referenced images and derivatives,which has long been a weakness especially of low to medium cost UAV systems equipped with relatively inexpensive inertial measurement unit(ImU)and Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)*** research evaluates the positional accuracy of the real-time kinematics(RTK)GNSS on the DJI matrice 600 Pro,one of the first available and widely used UAVs with potentially surveying-grade *** a very high positional accuracy of the drone itself of 2 to 3 cm is claimed by DJI,the actual accuracy of the drone RTK for positioning the images and for using it for mapping purposes without additional ground control is not *** begin with,the actual GNSS RTK position of reference center(the physical point on the antenna)on the drone is not indicated,and uncertainty regarding this also exists among the professional user *** this study the reference center was determined through a set of experiments using the dual frequency static Leica GNSS with RTK *** RTK positioning data from the drone were then used for direct georeferencing,and its results were *** flights were carried out over a 70 x 70 m area with an altitude of 40 m above the ground,with a ground sampling distance of 1.3 *** against ground control points,the planimetric accuracy of direct georeferencing for the photogrammetric product ranged between 30 and 60 *** of direct georeferencing results showed a time delay of up to 0.28 seconds between the drone GNSS RTK and camera image acquisition affecting direct georeferencing results.

Light Electrospun Polyvinylpyrrolidone Blanket for Low Frequencies Sound Absorption

Light polymeric soundproofing materials （density = 63 kg/m3） of interest for the transportation industry were fabricated through electrospinning. Blankets of electrospun polyvinylpyrrolidone （average fiber diameter = （1.6 ± 0.5） or （2.8 ± 0.5） μm） were obtained by stacking disks of electrospun mats. The sound absorption coefficients were measured using the impedance tube instrument based on ASTm E1050 and ISO 10534-2. For a given set of disks （from a minimum of 6） the sound absorption coefficient changed with the frequency （in the range 200-1600 Hz） following a bell shape curve with a maximum （where the coefficient is greater than 0.9） that shifts to lower frequencies at higher piled disks number and greater fiber diameter. This work showed that electrospinning produced sound absorbers with reduced thickness （2-3 cm） and excellent sound-absorption properties in the low and medium frequency range.

Applying rock mass classifications to carbonate rocks for engineering purposes with a new approach using the rock engineering system

Classical rock mass classification systems are not applicable to carbonate rocks,especially when these are affected by karst *** applications to such settings could therefore result in outcomes not representative of the real stress-strain *** this study,we propose a new classification of carbonate rock masses for engineering purposes,by adapting the rock engineering system(RES) method by Hudson for fractured and karstified rock masses,in order to highlight the problems of implementation of geomechanical models to carbonate *** new approach allows a less rigid classification for carbonate rock masses,taking into account the local properties of the outcrops,the site conditions and the type of engineering work as well.

Absolute parameters of the three totally-eclipsing W Uma stars NSVS 2443858,NSVS 780649 and V1098 Her

We present the first photometric analysis of three totally-eclipsing W Uma binaries,NS VS2443858,NSVS 780649 and V1098 *** absolute astrophysical parameters of the stellar components were determined by means of Gaia distances and light curve *** results show that:(ⅰ)Two of the systems,NSVS 2443858 and V1098 Her,are of A subtype while the obtained temperature of the secondary component of NSVS 780649 indicates that it is a W-subtype system;(ⅱ)The estimated mass ratios approach the lower limit of the mass ratio assumed by researchers in recent years so our targets could be classified as extreme mass ratio binary(EmRB)systems;(ⅲ)All the systems have deep contact configurations,so they also are deep low mass ratio(DLmR)systems;(ⅳ)The components of our systems are stars of F and G spectral type and undergo total eclipses;(ⅴ)The sum 0.871 m⊙of the component masses of NSVS 780649 is below the mass limit of 1.0-1.2 m⊙assumed for the known contact binary stars.

Highly selective sorting of semiconducting single wall carbon nanotubes exhibiting light emission at telecom wavelengths

Single wail carbon nanotubes （SWNTs） are known for their exceptional electronic properties. However, most of the synthesis methods lead to the production of a mixture of carbon nanotubes having different chiralities associated with metallic （m-SWNTs） and semiconducting （s-SWNTs） characteristics. For application purposes, effective methods for separating these species are highly desired. Here, we report a protocol for achieving a highly selective separation of s-SWNTs that exhibit a fundamental optical transition centered at 1,550 nm. We employ a polymer assisted sorting approach, and the influence of preparation methods on the optical and transport performances of the separated nanotubes is analyzed. As even traces of m-SWNTs can critically affect performances, we aim to produce samples that do not contain any detectable fraction of residual m-SWNTs.
