Current histopathological staging procedures in colorectal cancer(CRC)depend on midline division of the lymph nodes(LNs)with one section of hematoxylin and eosin *** cells outside this transection line may be missed,which could lead to understaging of Union for International Cancer Control Stage II high-risk *** one-step nucleic acid amplification(OSNA)assay has emerged as a rapid molecular diagnostic tool for LN metastases *** is a molecular technique that can analyze the entire LN tissue using a reversetranscriptase loop-mediated isothermal amplification reaction to detect tumorspecific cytokeratin 19 *** findings suggest that the OSNA assay has a high diagnostic accuracy in detecting metastatic LNs in CRC and a high negative predictive *** is a standardized,observer-independent technique,which may lead to more accurate *** has been suggested that in stage II CRC,the upstaging can reach 25%and these patients can access postoperative adjuvant ***,intraoperative OSNA sentinel node evaluation may allow early CRC to be treated with organ-preserving surgery,while in more advanced-stage disease,a tailored lymphadenectomy can be performed considering the presence of aberrant lymphatic drainage and skip metastases.

In the last two years,a new seve re acute res piratory syndrome coronavirus(SARS-CoV)infection has spread worldwide leading to the death of *** ccination represents the key factor in the global strategy against this pandemic,but it also poses several problems,especially for vulnerable people such as patients with multiple scle *** this review,we have briefly summarized the main findings of the safety,efficacy,and acceptability of Coronavirus disease 2019(COVId-19)vaccination fo r multiple sclerosis *** the acceptability of COVId-19 vaccines has progressively increased in the last year,a small but significant part of patients with multiple sclerosis still has relevant concerns about vaccination that make them hesitant about receiving the COVId-19 ***,available data suggest that the COVId-19 vaccination is safe and effective in multiple scle rosis patients,even though some pharmacological treatments such as anti-Cd20 therapies or sphingosine I-phosphate receptor modulato rs can reduce the immune response to ***,COVId-19 vaccination should be strongly recommended for people with multiple scle rosis and,in patients treated with anti-Cd20 therapies and sphingosine I-phosphate receptor modulato rs,and clinicians should evaluate the appropriate timing for vaccine *** studies are necessary to understand the role of cellular immunity in COVId-19 vaccination and the possible usefulness of booster *** the other hand,it is mandatory to learn more about the reasons why people refuse *** would help to design a more effective communication campaign aimed at increasing vaccination coverage among vulnerable people.

Prognostic role of metformin in diabetes mellitus type 2 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma:A systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUNd Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is among the commonest malignancies associated with significant cancer-related *** identification of chemopreventive agents following HCC treatments with the potential to lower the risk of HCC adverse course is ***,a first-line agent used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2dM),has been associated with inhibition of HCC *** To determine whether metformin can prevent adverse events(i.e.,death,tumor progression,and recurrence)after any HCC treatment in T2dM *** A systematic review of the published literature was undertaken focused on the role of metformin on outcomes in patients with T2dM and HCC receiving any tumor therapy.A search of the PubMed and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials databases was *** A total of 13 studies(n=14886 patients)were included in this *** regard to the risk of death,a decreased risk was reported in cases receiving metformin,although this decrease was not statistically significant[odds ratio(OR)=0.89,P=0.42].When only patients treated with curative strategies were considered,a more marked correlation between metformin and favorable cases was reported(OR=0.70,P=0.068).When analyzing palliative treatment,there was no statistical significance in terms of the correlation between metformin and favorable cases(OR=0.74,P=0.66).As for the risks of progressive disease and recurrence,no obvious correlation between metformin use and reduced risk was *** sub-analyses were performed for patients from different regions,the results for patients from Eastern countries showed a tendency for decreased risk of death in T2dM cases receiving metformin(OR=0.69,P=0.17),but the same was not seen in patients from Western countries(OR=1.19,P=0.31).CONCLUSION Metformin failed to show a marked impact in preventing adverse effects after HCC treatment.A trend was reported in T2dM cases receiving curative therapies in relation to the ri

Restrictive measures adopted worldwide against COVId19(e.g.,wearing masks,frequent hand washing,and social distancing)produced not only a decrease in SARS-CoV-2 difusion but also a drastic reduction in respiratory diseases caused by other pathogens,as reported by many authors[1,2].The spread of respiratory viruses,particularly respiratory syncytial virus(RSV),has been completely changed during the winter of 2020–2021[3,4],but an unusual resurgence of RSV infection has been recently reported in diferent countries[3-7].

Ti and Zr amino-tris(phenolate) catalysts for the synthesis of cyclic carbonates from CO_(2) and epoxides

Herein,we report the application of four amino-tris(phenolate)-based metal complexes incorporating Ti(IV)or Zr(IV)centres(2a-3b)as homogeneous catalysts for the conversion of CO_(2)and epoxides into cyclic *** four complexes were synthesised,characterised and then evaluated in combination with tetrabutylammo-nium iodide,bromide or chloride as binary catalytic systems for the reaction of CO_(2)with 1,2-epoxyhexane as epoxide substrate at 12 bar CO_(2)pressure and 90?C for 2 *** catalytic systems comprising the two Ti(IV)complexes(2a and 2b)showed similar *** notable exception was the catalytic system consisting of titanium complex 2b,bearing an axial Cl-ligand,and tetrabutylammonium chloride,which displayed higher catalytic activity compared to other titanium-based *** higher activity was achieved with Zr(IV)complex 3a,bearing an axial isopropoxide ligand,which reached turnover numbers(TON metal)up to 1920 for the reaction of CO_(2)with 1,2-epoxyhexane at 12 bar CO_(2)pressure and 90?C for 2 *** performance is comparable with that of state-of-the-art catalysts for this *** catalytic system consisting of complex 3a and tetra-butylammonium bromide was explored further by investigating its applicability with a broad substrate scope,achieving quantitative conversion of several epoxides with CO_(2)into cyclic carbonate products at 90?C and 12 bar CO_(2)pressure for 18 *** selectivity towards the cyclic carbonate products was?98%for all studied terminal epoxides and?80%for all examined cyclohexene-type epoxides.

Background:To study and compare the clinical optical image quality following implantation with different premium IOLs by analysing the point spread function(PSF)Strehl ratio using a pyramidal wavefront sensor(PWS)-based ***:This study included 194 eyes implanted with:(a)19 AcrySof SA60AT(control group);(b)19 Miniwell;(c)24 LENTIS Mplus LS-313 MF30;(d)33 LENTIS Mplus LS-313 MF15;(e)17 AkkoLens Lumina;(f)31 AT LISA Tri 839MP;(g)20 Precizon Presbyopic;(h)20 AcrySof IQ PanOptix;(i)11 Tecnis *** outcome measures were PSF Strehl ratio,PSF Strehl ratio excluding second-order aberrations(PSFw2),total root mean square(RMS),low-order aberration(LOA)and high-order aberration(HOA)RMS measured by PWS ***:AT LISA Tri had the highest PSFw2 Strehl ratio at both 3.0-and 4.0-mm pupil size(0.52±0.14 and 0.31±0.10;Pd by SA60AT(0.41±0.11 and 0.28±0.07)and PanOptix(0.4±0.07 and 0.26±0.04).AT LISA Tri was found to provide a significantly better retinal image quality than PanOptix at both 3.0 mm(Pd 4.0 mm(P=0.004).Mplus MF15 was found to be significantly better than Mplus MF30 at both 3.0 mm(Pd 4.0 mm(P=0.002).Total RMS,LOA RMS,HOA RMS,PSF Strehl ratio and PSFw2 varied significantly between the studied groups(Pdistance clinical image quality parameters measured by PWS aberrometer differed significantly according to the technology of the implanted *** LISA Tri,SA60AT and PanOptix showed the highest values of far distance retinal image quality,while the lowest PSFw2 Strehl ratios were displayed by Miniwell,Mplus MF30 and Precizon Presbyopic.

Silver fir(Abies alba Mill.)is a flexible European tree species,mainly vegetating within the mountainous regions of Europe,but its growth responses across its latitudinal and longitudinal range have not yet been satisfactorily verified under changing environmental *** study describes the tree-ring increment of silver fir in research plots across a latitudinal gradient from the northern range in Czechia(CZ),through Croatia(HR)to the southernmost range in Italy(IT).The research aims to analyze in detail the dynamics and cyclicity of the ringwidth index(RWI)and how it relates to climatic factors(temperature and precipitation),the North Atlantic Oscillation(NAO),and total solar irradiance(TSI),including the determination of *** results show that the main drivers affecting fir growth are the seasonal NAO index and *** temperatures affect RWI early in the vegetation season,while lack of precipitation during the summer is a limiting factor for fir growth,especially in *** temperatures and temperatures in June and July negatively impact,while seasonal precipitation totals in the same months positively influence the RWI in all research plots across *** longest growth cycles in fir RWI were recorded in the northernmost studied plots in *** cyclical fluctuations recede approaching the *** cyclic increase in RWI is related to the TSI,which decreases its effect from north to *** TSI's effects vary,positively impacting CZ but negatively influencing HR while remaining relatively neutral in *** the other hand,seasonal NAO tends to negatively affect silver fir growth in HR and CZ but has a mildly positive effect in *** conclusion,the TSI and the influence of the seasonal NAO index are prevalent in the fir RWI and are accompanied by a greater cyclicity of RWI in Central Europe(temperature optimum)than in the Italian Mediterranean region,where this tree species is limited by climatic conditions,especially lack of pre

Release behavior of soluble salts in MSWI bottom ash used as road basement materials under continuous rainfall conditions

The bottom ash is increasingly used as a substitute aggregate material in road construction in China,and road salting is the major salt source in *** rainfall releases soluble salts from the bottom ash subgrade into the surrounding soil and groundwater,resulting in potential *** methods were employed to simulate and collect runoff water during rainfall events,including batch leaching test,dynamic leaching test and constant head test,to assess environmental impact of bottom ash as road basement materials under continuous rainfall *** study simulated the seepage of bottom ash backfill roads under different rainfall intensities,rainfall times,and rainfall pH values.A comprehensive sampling and laboratory testing program was undertaken to characterize the environmental impact of soluble salts from bottom *** obtained results reveal that the leaching concentrations of Cl^(−)and SO_(4)^(2−)exceed the limit specified in the class V standard of surface water,which are 2.06–2.17 times and 1.08–1.25 times,*** examining the long-term environmental influence under the condition of continuous rainfall,the leaching of Cl^(−)mainly occurs in the early leaching stage,and the maximum leaching concentration reaches 19,700 mg/*** release concentration of Cl^(−)begins to be lower than the class V standard of surface water when continuous rainfall approaches the total rainfall for 13 *** cumulative release of Cl^(−)in the bottom ash is 2.8–5.4 mg/*** rainfall intensity and rain pH affect the release of Cl^(−).The obtained results derived from the constant head tests indicate that stagnant water caused by rainfall deteriorates the release of soluble salt into the groundwater in only 1 day,especially at the early stage of 12 *** work provides some basic information about how to minimize damage to the surrounding environment caused by the leaching of salt in bottom ash.
