Researchers have long been studying the effects of the modification of friction material comp.sitions on their tribological *** models have also been develop.d,but they are of limited use in the design of new ***,this research aims to investigate the tribological behaviour of single ingredients in friction materials to develop.a tribological *** dataset could then be used as a foundation for a cellular automaton(CA)p.edictive model,intended to be a tool for designing friction *** samp.es were almost entirely comp.sed of four distinct friction material ingredients,and one samp.e comp.sed of their mixture was successfully ***-on-disc(p.D)tribometer testing and scanning electron microscop./energy-disp.rsive X-ray sp.ctroscop.(SEM/EDXS)analysis were used for the tribological *** material showed distinct tribological p.op.rties and evolution of the contact surface features,and the synergistic effect of their mutual interaction was also demonstrated by their mixture.

The ap.lication of extracellular vesicles,p.rticularly exosomes(EXs),is rap.dly exp.nding in the field of medicine,owing to their remarkable p.op.rties as natural carriers of biological *** study investigates utilization of exosomes derived from stromal cells of tumor adjacent normal tissues(NAF-EXs)for p.rsonalized medicine,which can be derived at the time of diagnosis by endoscop.c ***,we show that exosomes(EXs)derived from NAFs demonstrate differential bio-p.ysical characteristics,efficient cellular internalization,drug loading efficiency,p.ncreatic tumor targeting and delivery of ***-derived EXs(NAF-EXs)were used for loading ormeloxifene(ORM),a p.tent anti-cancer and desmop.asia inhibitor as a model *** found that ORM maintains normal fibroblast cell p.enotyp. and renders them incomp.tible to be triggered for a CAF-like p.enotyp.,which may be due to regulation of Ca^(2+) influx in fibroblast ***-EXs-ORM effectively blocked oncogenic signaling p.thways involved in desmop.asia and ep.thelial mesenchymal transition(EMT)and rep.essed tumor growth in xenograft mouse *** conclusion,our data suggests p.eferential trop.sm of NAF-EXs for p.AC tumors,thus imp.y feasibility of develop.ng a novel p.rsonalized medicine for p.AC p.tients using autologous NAF-EXs for imp.oved therap.utic outcome of anti-cancer ***,it p.ovides the op.ortunity of utilizing this biological scaffold for effective therap.utics in combination with standard therap.utic regimen.

Objectives:p.rsistent olfactory dysfunction(OD)following loss of smell associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection is a major feature of long *** on the p.evalence of p.rsistent OD p.edominantly rely on self-rep.rted olfactory *** studies have tracked longitudinal rates of recovery using p.ychop.ysical assessment among p.tients p.esenting for evaluation of p.rsistent OD beyond a window of acute *** anchored in standardized testing methods are needed to counsel p.tients who fail to acutely regain their sense of *** study aims to quantify the degree of p.rsistent OD in p.st-COVID-19 p.tients who exp.rience subjective and p.ychop.ysical ***:We group.d p.rticip.nts p.esenting for OD evaluation into cohorts based on both subjective and p.ychop.ysical olfactory status at a baseline assessment and assessed their olfactory abilities with a visual analogue scale and the Sniffin'Sticks extended test at baseline and 1-year time *** had confirmed a history of COVID-19 by lab evaluation or clinical diagnosis if lab evaluation was not ***:Baseline olfactory evaluation was comp.eted by 122 p.rticip.nts,53 of whom comp.eted the 1-year follow-up.*** p.rticip.nts p.esenting with p.rceived OD,74.5%had confirmed p.ychop.ysical OD at baseline,with 55.1%at 1-year *** had reliable trends in self-rated versus p.ychop.ysically tested olfactory function at both time *** total threshold,discrimination,and identification(TDI)score imp.oved by+3.25 p.ints in the cohort with p.ychop.ysical OD(p.0.0005),with this imp.ovement largely attributable to an increase in median threshold scores(+2.75 p.ints;p.0.0004).Conclusions:OD p.rsists in a significant number of p.tients who fail to acutely recovery their sense of smell after COVID-19,with many demonstrating lingering deficits at *** in threshold,but not discrimination or identification,most significantly mediate imp.ovement

Hemop.ricardium is a common finding at autop.y, but it may rep.esent a challenge for the forensic p.thologist when the etiop.thologi-cal relationship.in causing death is requested. Hemop.ricardium and cardiac tamp.nade can be evaluated in living p.op.e using radiological techniques, in p.rticular comp.ter tomograp.y （CT）. Only a few studies are rep.rted in literature involving p.st-mortem （p.） cases, where p.CT imaging has been used in order to investigate acute hemop.ricardium, and they have shown a good accuracy of this technique. Here we rep.rt a case involving a 70-year-old white male found dead on the beach, with a medical history of hep.titis C and chronic hyp.rtension with a p.or p.armacological resp.nse. A p.CT was p.rformed about 3 h after the discovery of the body. The p.CT examination showed an intrap.ricardial aortic dissection associated to a p.riaortic hematoma, a sickle-shap.d intramural hematoma, a false lumen, and a hemop.ericardium consisting in fluid and clotted blood. In this case, the p.CT was able to identify the cause of death, even though a traditional autop.y was required to confirm the radiological findings. p.CT is a reliable technique, which in chosen cases, can be p.rformed without the need for a traditional autop.y to be carried out.

BACKGROUND Gastrointestinal bleeding(GIB)is a severe and p.tentially life-threatening condition,esp.cially in cases of delayed *** tomograp.y angiograp.y(CTA)p.ays a p.votal role in the early identification of up.er and lower GIB and in the p.omp. treatment of the *** To determine whether a volumetric estimation of the extravasated contrast at CTA in GIB may be a p.edictor of subsequent p.sitive angiograp.ic *** In this retrosp.ctive single-centre study,35 p.tients(22 men;median age 69 years;range 16-92 years)admitted to our institution for active GIB detected at CTA and further submitted to catheter angiograp.y between January 2018 and February 2022 were ***-three(65.7%)p.tients underwent endoscop. before *** volumetry was evaluated in both arterial and venous p.ases via a semi-automated dedicated *** rate was obtained from volume change between the two p.ases and standardised for unit *** were divided into two group.,according to the angiograp.ic signs and their concordance with *** Up.er bleeding accounted for 42.9%and lower GIB for 57.1%.Mean haemoglobin value at the admission was 7.7 g/dL.A concordance between p.sitive CTA and direct angiograp.ic bleeding signs was found in 19(54.3%)*** no significant differences in terms of bleeding volume in the arterial p.ase(0.55 mL vs 0.33 mL,p.0.35),a statistically significant volume increase in the venous p.ase was identified in the group.of p.tients with p.sitive angiograp.y(2.06 mL vs 0.9 mL,p.0.02).In the latter p.tient group.a significant increase in bleeding rate was also detected(2.18 mL/min vs 0.19 mL/min,p.0.02).CONCLUSION In GIB of any origin,extravasated contrast volumetric analysis at CTA could be a p.edictor of p.sitive angiograp.y and may help.in avoiding further unnecessary p.ocedures.
