In this paper a new finite-volume non-hydrostatic and shock-capturing three-dimensional model for the simulation of wave-structure interaction and hydrodynamic phenomena（wave refraction, diffraction, shoaling and breaking） is proposed. The model is based on an integral formulation of the Navier-Stokes equations which are solved on a time dependent coordinate system： a coordinate transformation maps the varying coordinates in the physical domain to a uniform transformed space. The equations of motion are discretized by means of a finite-volume shock-capturing numerical procedure based on high order WENO reconstructions. The solution procedure for the equations of motion uses a third order accurate Runge-Kutta（SSPRK） fractional-step method and applies a pressure corrector formulation in order to obtain a divergence-free velocity field at each stage. The proposed model is validated against several benchmark test cases.

Today,the most commonly used civil infrastructure inspection method is based on a visual assessment conducted by certified inspectors following prescribed ***,the increase in aggressive environmental and load conditions,coupled with the achievement of many structures of the life-cycle end,has highlighted the need to automate damage identification and satisfy the number of structures that need to be *** overcome this challenge,this paper presents a method for automating concrete damage classification using a deep convolutional neural *** convolutional neural network was designed after an experimental investigation of a wide number of pretrained networks,applying the transfer-learning *** and validation were conducted using a database built with 1352 images balanced between“undamaged”,“cracked”,and“delaminated”concrete *** increase the network robustness compared to images in real-world situations,different image configurations have been collected from the Internet and on-field bridge *** GoogLeNet model,with the highest validation accuracy of approximately 94%,was selected as the most suitable network for concrete damage *** results confirm that the proposed model can correctly classify images from real concrete surfaces of bridges,tunnels,and pavement,resulting in an effective alternative to the current visual inspection techniques.

The rise of plasmonic metamaterials in recent years has unveiled the possibility of revolutionizing the entire field of optics and photonics, challenging well-established technological limitations and paving the way to innovations at an unprecedented level To capitalize the disruptive potential of this rising field of science and technology, it is important to be able to combine the richness of optical phenomena enabled by nanoplasmonics in order to realize metamaterial components, devices, and systems of increasing complexity. Here, we review a few recent research directions in the field of plasmonic metamaterials, which may foster further advancements in this research area. We will discuss the anomalous scattering features enabled by plasmonic nanoparticles and nanoclusters, and show how they may represent the fundamental building blocks of complex nanophotonic architectures. Building on these concepts, advanced components can be designed and operated, such as optical nanoantennas and nanoantenna arrays, which, in turn, may be at the basis of metasurface devices and complex systems. Following this path, from basic phenomena to advanced functionalities, the field of plasmonic metamaterials offers the promise of an important scientific and technological impact, with applications spanning from medical diagnostics to clean energy and information processing.

A mechanism-oriented model is proposed here as a speculative but robust attempt to understand whether there might be any increased risk of electrostatically induced contamination,with relevant consequences from the epidemiological *** could also be the case for the COVID-19 spreading because an amount of micro-sized droplet nuclei,often carrying net electric charge,are expected to be electro-dynamically involved in a physical process originated by the natural and unperceivable static electrification of human *** effects of the triboelectric charging have long been successfully tested because the phenomenon under examination is also implied in the genesis of the electrostatic discharge(ESD),a demanding key objective in the special context of electromagnetic compatibility(EMC).Therefore,the ultimate purpose of this technical paper is to provide valuable insights into infection control,building on what is already being done for maintaining static-safe *** stature of the applied model can be further appreciated because some currently observed climate-dependent and sexlinked different vulnerabilities to COVID-19 are critically examined by unique sound *** ultimately focus attention on ambient relative humidity and worn shoes,the latter differing for typology,size and material,for their integrated control of the inadvertent human aptitude to buildup *** would appear as a dreadful prerequisite for charge bearing droplets in the airborne state to be efficiently attracted/repelled according to the described electrostatic mechanism.
