Delivering high quality dietary protein at an affordable price is a major aim of the EU-funded CHANCE project. Foods have been formulated with this aim and as part of their nutritional assessment;the bioaccessbility of nutrients following simulated gastroduodenal digestion is being investigated. Nutrimetabolomics approaches can be used to comprehensively and quantitatively analyse nutrients and metabolites. They have been applied to monitor nutrient release from ham, formulated in the CHANCE project, during in vitro digestion. SDS-PAGE analysis shows that constituent ham proteins were broken down to lower molecular weight polypeptides (Mr ≤ 10 kDa) after 120 min simulated gastric digestion which was digested further by subsequent duodenal digestion. Digestion of porteins resulted in the appearance of coalesced lipid droplets associated with the loss of the muscle protein matrix of the ham. Important nutrients, such as choline, creatine, carnosine, sucrose, cholesterol, triacylglyceride and fatty acids (saturated and unsaturated) were identified using 1H NMR. Chance ham is a good source of dietary protein and the combined approach can provide representative data on the bioaccessibility of all detectable nutrients contained in CHANCE ham to human digestive system.

This paper describes features of a study of different aspects of cryptorchidism in sheep in different parts of England. A total of 83 crytorchid testes (57 unilateral and 13 bilateral) were recognised in 70 animals post-slaughter at three abattoirs in the south west of England between June 2000-January 2004. Abdominal cryptorchids (60) were common than inguinal (23);69% percent of cases were unilateral. External examination for cryptorchidism was carried out on 5134 young male lambs carried out in 2001 at Foot and Mouth Disease disposal sites, and on farms, during the UK outbreak of the disease. A total of 29 cases of cryptorchism [0.56%] were detected;86% of cases were unilateral. In both situations the right testis was more commonly affected than the left.

目的确定亚历山大技术课程、按摩疗法以及按照医生运动处方在护士指导下进行体育锻炼对慢性或复发性腰背痛治疗的效果。设计析因随机试验。地点英格兰的64个全科医疗机构。参试者579例慢性复发性腰背痛患者；144例随机接受常规治疗，147例接受按摩治疗，144例接受6节亚历山大技术课程，144例接受24节亚历山大技术课程；每组均有半数患者随机给予运动处方。干预常规治疗（对照）、6次按摩、6或24节亚历山大技术课程以及按照医生运动处方在护士指导下进行体育锻炼。主要结局指标RolandMorris残疾评分（疼痛受损活动数）和疼痛天数。结果体育锻炼和亚历山大技术课程，而非按摩，1年时依然有效（与对照组RolandMorris残疾评分8.1比较：按摩组为-0.58，95％可信区间-1.94－0.77；6节亚历山大技术课程-1.40，-2.77－-0.03；24节亚历山大技术课程-3.4，-4.76－-2.03；体育锻炼组-1.29，-2.25－-0.34）。6节课程之后体育锻炼的疗效为单独24节亚历山大技术课的72％（Roland Morris残疾评分分别为-2.98和-4.14）。课程后前4周腰背痛天数减少（与对照组中位数21天相比，24节课程-18天，6节课程-10天，按摩组-7天）；而且生活质量显著改善。没有明显的损害报告。结论由注册教师提供的一对一亚历山大技术课程可使慢性腰背痛患者长期受益。6节亚历山大技术课程后辅以体育锻炼处方的效果接近24节亚历山大技术课程。

To assess the peripheral refractive changes that occur when eye growth decelerates in *** We measured peripheral refraction and on-axis vitreous chamber depth on a total of 53 marmosets;36 treated monocularly for 12 weeks 9 hrs/day(26 with-5 D contact lenses,10 with+5 D)and 17 untreated *** the 26 marmosets treated with-5 D,10 wore contact lenses 9 hrs/day without interruptions and were mea-sured at the end of 10 weeks of treatment(T10)and after 4 weeks of recovery(R14).Eight had both contact lenses removed for 30 mins twice/day(mid-morning and mid-afternoon)during the first four weeks of treatment(early interruption group)and eight had the lenses removed during the second four weeks of treatment(late interruption group).The two interruption groups were measured after 4,8 and 12 weeks of treatment only(T4,T8,T12).
