Cretaceous Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) Affect Sedimentary Processing: Jordan, Arabian Plate;NW Germany, Central Europe

Both the NE Gondwana Platform (Jordan) and the Carpathian/NW Europe Seaway towards the N Atlantic expose comparable sequence analytical patterns as i.e. the Maximum Flooding Surface (MSF), relating to the Arabian Shelf, throughout one of the warmest Phanerozoic Epochs. Supervolcanic Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs), (explosive island arc andesitic volcanism), Mid-Oceanic Rift Basalts (MORB), (S/N Atlantic, Arctic) and kimberlitic volcanism (W Gondwana) provided striking conditions for an immense influence (tuff, degassing, T) on the sedimentary processing throughout the Cretaceous, mainly verified by k-montmorillonite , dozens of tuff beds (predominantly in NW Germany), zeolite, cristobalite, extremely high chert occurrences as well as the reconfirming of the global anoxic event around the Cenomanian/Turonian b. (94 Ma) by a positive ∂13C-maximum (~0.5%). Thus the lithofacies spectrum (carbonate rocks, chalk, chert, porcellanite, shale) was affected by pH, Eh, T, photosynthesis, and greenhouse gases—change during varying positive/negative climate forcing. While acid sturzrain events caused the transformation of arkosic/subarkosic sediments of the hinterlands to quartz arenite cycles deposited on the Jordanian Platform during early Cretaceous, the other patterns mentioned, led to a rapid change of lithofacies through Late Cretaceous. The southward directed Neotethys transgression can be reconstructed during the Early Cretaceous by glauconite-aged tidalites that give hint on transpressional tectonics during the Upper Cenomanian east of the Dead Sea. The Cretaceous/Paleogene (k-Pg) transitional zone evidences a zone of several cumulative events (island arc-volcanism) and the Chicxulub impact, indicated by at least two extinctions phases. The southward obduction of the Palmyrides, Syria and related transtensional/transpressional strike slip tectonics (partially pull-apart structures) left a fast facies change on the Jordanian Platform.

Antimicrobial resistance(AMR)poses a critical threat to global health and development,with environmental factors—particularly in urban areas—contributing significantly to the spread of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs).However,most research to date has been conducted at a local level,leaving significant gaps in our understanding of the global status of antibiotic resistance in urban *** address this issue,we thoroughly analyzed a total of 86,213 ARGs detected within 4,728 metagenome samples,which were collected by the Meta SUB International Consortium involving diverse urban environments in 60 cities of 27 countries,utilizing a deep-learning based *** findings demonstrated the strong geographical specificity of urban environmental resistome,and their correlation with various local socioeconomic and medical *** also identified distinctive evolutionary patterns of ARG-related biosynthetic gene clusters(BGCs)across different countries,and discovered that the urban environment represents a rich source of novel *** study provides a comprehensive overview of the global urban environmental resistome,and fills a significant gap in our knowledge of large-scale urban antibiotic resistome analysis.

The exact form of the kinetic energy functional has remained elusive in orbital-free models of density functional theory(DFT).This has been the main stumbling block for the development of a general-purpose framework on this ***,we show that on the basis of a two-density model,which represents many-electron systems by mass density and spin density components,we can derive the exact form of such a *** exact functional is shown to contain previously suggested functionals to some extent,with the notable exception of the Thomas-Fermi kinetic energy functional.

Primary care clinicians’ strategies to overcome financial barriers to specialty health care for uninsured patients

Objective:This study describes strategies used by federally qualified health centers(FQHCs)to assist medically uninsured patients in obtaining specialty health care ***:Qualitative methods were used to study strategies for obtaining specialty health care for uninsured *** were gathered from 10 primary care clinicians at three FQHC clinics by means of 10 semistructured interviews,23 brief interviews,and 45 h of direct *** captured additional data by studying cases of referred uninsured ***:The following six strategies were identified:(1)quid pro quo-a specialist accept-ing the clinic’s medically uninsured patients was rewarded with referrals of the clinic’s insured patients;(2)over referral-clinicians referred insured patients whose needs could have been met at the FQHC;(3)brief hospitalization-when a specialist could not be obtained,high-risk patients were briefly hospitalized;(4)case building-diagnostic tests were conducted at the FQHC to justify a referral;(5)direct communication-communication between clinicians and specialists was neces-sary when requesting a referral;(6)specialty clinics-in return for conducting a specialty clinic at the FQHC,the specialist received all referrals of insured ***:Uninsured FQHC patients encountered difficulties accessing specialty health care,and in response,clinicians developed a range of innovative strategies.

Three-dimensional Wentzel-kramers-Brillouin approach for the simulation of scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy

We review the recently dew, loped three-dinmnsional （3D） atom-superposition approach for simulating scanning tunneling microscopy （STM） and spectroscopy （STS） based on ab initio electronic structure data. In the method, contributions from individual electron tunneling transitions between the tip apex atom and each of the sample surface atoms are summed up assuming tile one-dimensional （1D） Wentzel-kramers--Brillouin （WkB） approximation in all these transitions. This 3D WkB tun- neling model is extremely suitable to simulate spin-polarized STM and STS on surfaces exhibiting a complex noncollinear magnetic structure, i.e., without a global spin quantization axis, at very low computational cost. The tip electronic structure from first principles can also be incorporated into the model, that is often assumed to be constant in energy in the vast majority of the related literature, which couht lead to a misinterpretation of experimental findings. Using this approach,we highlight some of tile electron tunneling features on a prototype frustrated hexagonal antiferro- magnetic Cr monolayer oil Ag（lll） surface. We obtain useful theoretical insights into tile simulated quantities that is expected to help the correct evaluation of experimental results. By extending the method to incorporate a simple orbital dependent electron tunneling transmission, we reinvestigate the bias voltage- and tip-dependent contrast inversion effect on the W（110） surface. STM images cal- culated using this orbital dependent model agree reasonably well with Tersoff-Hamann and Bardeen results. The computational efficiency of the model is remarkable as the k-point samplings of the surface and tip Brillouin zones do not affect the computational time, in contrast to the Bardeen method. In a certain case we obtain a relative computational time gain of 8500 compared to the Bardeen calculation, without the loss of quality. Solid lithium ion conducting electrochemical cells using LiSiPO as solid electrolyte and Li2CO3 mixed with Au as electrodes were prepared and employed as chemical sensors for the detection of CO2 *** EMF of the cell depends on the concentration of CO2 in air according to the partial pressure dependence of Nernst's law in the investigated range from 100 to 2000 ppm over the temperature range from 473 k to 673 k.
