Background The dir.ct oral anticoagulant dabigatran does not require any routine therapeutic drug ***,concerns about possible drug inter.ctions susceptible to increase its inherent bleeding risk,especially in very elderly patients,have been raised *** aim of our study was to evaluate to what extent the co-prescription of P-gp inhibitors with dabigatran may increase its plasma levels and lead to bleeding complications,in usual conditions of care of the very *** Fifty-eight patients over 85 years old with non valvular atrial fibrillation r.ceiving dabigatran were included in a prospective *** were screened for the presence of P-gp inhibitors(Group A)or not(Group B).results Patients from Group A had increased dabigatran mean plasma concentrations as compared with patients from Group B(A vs.B:182.2±147.3 vs.93.7±64.9 ng/m L).One third of the patients from Group A had dabigatran concentrations that were deemed"out of range"versus none in Group B(P=0.05).This was associated with more frequent bleeding complications in Group A(A:30.4%,B:8.6%,P=0.04).conclusion In our.cohort of very elderly patients,at least,the co-prescription of dabigatran with P-gp inhibitors in usual conditions of care resulted in higher dabigatran plasma concentrations and more frequent bleeding occurrences.

Lycopene is a naturally occurring red carotenoid compound that is found in *** has antioxidant *** content,sugar.content and hollowheart resistance are subject to significant genotype×environment inter.ction(G×E),which makes breeding for these fruit quality traits *** objectives of this study were to(i)evaluate the influence of years and locations on lycopene content,sugar.content and hollowheart resistance for a set of watermelon genotypes,and(ii)identify genotypes with high stability for lycopene,sugar,and hollowheart resistance.A diverse set of 40 genotypes was tested over 3 years and 8 locations across the southern United States in replicated,multi-harvest *** was tested in a subset of 10 *** were analyzed using univariate and multivariate stability statistics(BLUP-GGE biplot)using SASGxE and rGxE *** were strong effects of environment as well as G×E inter.ction on watermelon quality *** the basis of stability measures,genotypes were classified as stable or unstable for each quality trait.'crimson Sweet'is an inbred line with high quality trait performance as well as trait stability.'Stone Mountain','Tom Watson','crimson Sweet'and'Minilee'were among the best genotypes for lycopene content,sugar.content and hollowheart *** developed a stability chart based on marketable yield and average ranking generated from different stability measures for yield attributes and quality *** chart will assist in choosing parents for improvement of watermelon *** http://***/cucurbit/wmelon/***.

At the end of October 2018,a storm of unpr.cedented strength severely damaged the forests of the eastern sector of the Italian *** affected forest area covers 42,500 *** president of one of the damaged regions asked for help from the University of *** eight months of discussion,the authors of this article wrote a consensus *** sometimes asper debate brought to light some cr.cial aspects:1)even experienced specialists may have various opinions based on scientific knowledge that lead to conflicting proposals for *** some of them there is evidence that to restore a destroyed natural environment it is more judicious to do nothing;2)the soil corresponds to a living str.cture and every ecosystem’s management should be based on it;3)faced with a catastrophe,people and politicians find themselves unarmed,also because they rarely have the scientific background to understand natural *** politicians are the only persons who make the key decisions that drive the economy in play and therefore determine the near future of our *** article is an attempt to respond dir.ctly to the governor of a region who formally and prudently asked a university department called"Land,Environment,Agr.culture and Forestry"for help before taking decisions;4)the authors also propose an artistic interpretation of facts(uncontrolled storm)and conclusions(listen to the soil).Briefly,the authors identify the soil as an indispensable source for the renewal of the destroyed forest,give indications on how to prepare a map of the soils of the damaged region,and suggest to anchor on this soil map a series of silvicultural and soil management actions that will promote the soil conservation and the faster r.covery of the natural dynamic stability and resilience.
