Giant cell tumor is a benign primary bone tumor. The phalangeal localization is rare. It is distinguished from other locations by the local aggressiveness of the tumor and a high rate of recurrence. We report one case of a 25-year-old right-handed nurse with no reported pathological history who complained about an ulcero-budding mass of the right little finger evolving one year ago. She would have initially consulted a bonesetter who would have taken care of her by using decoctions. The hand X-ray showed an osteolytic tumor of the first phalanx of the right little finger with a “honeycomb” appearance invading the soft tissues. We carried out the amputation of the radius. The postoperative course was simple with healing of the surgical wound and disappearance of the axillary adenopathy. The surgical specimen after anatomopathology exam concluded to be a grade 2 giant cell tumor of Senerkin.

Coal mining-induced surface subsidence poses significant ecological and infrastructural challenges, necessitating a comprehensive study to ensure safe mining practices, particularly in underwater conditions. This project aims to address the extensive impact of coal mining on the environment, infrastructure, and overall safety, focusing on the Shigong River area above the working face. The study employs qualitative and quantitative analyses, along with on-site engineering measurements, to gather data on crucial parameters such as coal seam characteristics, roof rock lithology, thickness, water resistance, and structural damage degree. The research encompasses a multidisciplinary approach, involving mining, geology, hydrogeology, geophysical exploration, rock mechanics, mine surveying, and computational mathematics. The importance of effective safety measures and prevention techniques is emphasized, laying the foundation for research focused on the Xingyun coal mine. The brief concludes by highlighting the potential economic and social benefits of this project and its contribution to valuable experience for future subsea coal mining.

海岸侵蚀是一种复杂的流体动力学现象,是波浪、水流和潮汐等自然力以及城市改造和气候变化等人为因素相互作用的结果。了解这一进程对于沿海地区的可持续发展管理至关重要,特别是降低基础设施建设和环境修复带来的生态风险有指导意义。在这项研究中,我们集中在两个主要的问题研究:一个涉及梯形海岸结构,另一个具有简单的矩形形状。利用Ansys Fluent的先进功能,进行了数值模拟,以模拟波浪形态和不同海岸结构之间的相互作用,从而更好地了解和预测各种条件下的海岸侵蚀。Ansys Fluent软件采用Navier-Stokes方程和k-ωSST湍流模型捕捉流体动力学和波浪结构相互作用。流体体积元（VOF）模型也用于处理空气—水界面问题。模拟影响因素包括波浪高度、速度、压力、湍流动能和壁面剪应力等变量,应用于不同的波浪条件和力,如波浪形状、波浪高度、倾角、作用方向和海岸结构。研究中,这些变量也在不同的点A、B、C和D进行监测,范围从最低点到最高点。主要结论如下:（1）在海岸结构的最低监测点A,记录到最高压力和最高波浪,表明海岸结构承受了很大的载荷。B点是一个中间点,记录了最高的壁面剪切应力,并突出了波浪和海岸结构之间的强烈相互作用。在高点C,湍流动能显著,水流速度高,表明了在这一点上侵蚀风险的增加。（2）由于波浪的直接冲击,低角度的倾斜导致波浪高度升高。同时,拐角处显着增加波高,表明波浪方向以及海岸结构设计中构筑物结构分析十分重要。（3）在拐角处,压力增加有显着影响,因此需要加固沿海结构以承受更强烈的水动力影响。（4）波浪形状对水流速度有显著影响,形状F与形状F差异显著,F产生的平均流速更高。（5）不同波形对壁面剪应力的影响也有显著差异,F波形诱导的剪应力高于F2波形。适度的倾角也有利于较高的剪切力。（6）波高越高,湍流动能越大。急转弯也会加剧这种能量,从而影响侵蚀和沉积。像SC这样的海岸结构也通过与自然波浪动力学相互作用来强化这种能量。

Moringa oleifera is well known as a highly nutritious plant and a water purifier in fish culture.Tilapia fish has many impressive qualities making them very suitable for aquaculture.Therefore,this study aimed to evaluate the effect of supplementation of Moringa oleifera aqueous extract(MOAE)at varying concentrations(0,100,200,and 400 mg/kg diet for 90 days)on growth performance,hematological,and some biochemical parameters of Nile tilapia.Additionally,histological changes and immunohistochemical expression of caspase 3 in gills and livers were evaluated.Significant enhancements(P<0.05)in the final weight,weight gain,specific growth rate,red blood cells,hemoglobin,packed cell volume,white blood cells,and total serum protein were observed in fish fed 200 mg MOAE/kg diet compared with other groups.However,a significant reduction(P<0.05)of liver and kidney function tests and non-significant changes in lipid profile were recorded.On the other hand,fish fed 400 mg MOAE/kg diet revealed disturbance in the corresponding parameters.Severe histological degenerative changes were detected in the gills and liver of fish fed 400 mg MOAE/kg diet.In comparison,fish fed 200 mg MOAE/kg diet showed the best histo-architectures of these organs compared with other groups.Concomitant immune expressions of caspase 3 were determined where gills and liver of fish fed 400 mg MOAE/kg diet revealed extensive number of positive caspase 3 cells indicating severe apoptotic features.Accordingly,a dietary MOAE at 200 mg/kg diet is recommended to improve the growth performance,hematological parameters,liver and kidney functions in Nile tilapia.Meanwhile,caution must be considered when using MOAE at a concentration over 200 mg/kg diet.

Design and Production of Infant Flours Based on Pumpkin Pulp Enriched with Cakes Extracted from Its Seeds

The inclusion of composite flours in infant food at weaning time should be a priority for mothers. The aim of this project is to formulate infant flour based on pulp flour enriched with oilcake from these grains after extraction of the oil. To do this, the elements were combined to obtain a regulatory formulation. Micro- and macronutrients, minerals, vitamins and tasting of the prepared porridge were determined. The results obtained were satisfactory. The moisture content of the fruit pulp was determined using oven-drying techniques: 92.2%, carbohydrates 6.00%, lipids 0.3%, ash 0.80%, proteins 1.10%, calcium 19.8%, phosphorus 42.6% and iron 0.4%. Furthermore, the carbohydrate content of flours composed of 5% insertion is 62.9 g to 48.8 g per 100 g, and the protein content of compound flours with 5% insertion is 15.9 g to 28.25 g per 100 g. On the other hand, the vitamin C and E contents of fresh pulp and oilcake are 25 mg, 13 mg and 21 mg respectively. However, only copper and β-carotene from 5% to 30% insertion remain invariant to the different insertion rates, with a value of 25 mg for copper and 0 µg for β-carotene. In addition, a variation in the degree of swelling of weaning flours compared with the standard from 3.95% at 5% insertion to 3.58 at 30% insertion was observed. The solubility of flours increases on the one hand with increases in the degree of insertion of the cakes. Flour formulated so many toward basicity. But the presence of traces of oil containing fatty acids can reduce this basicity. This study may be an alternative of industrial flours in infant nutrition.

Background: Amyloidosis is a disease characterized by the deposition of fibrillar proteins in tissues. The nature of the protein defines the type of amyloidosis. Cardiac involvement is most often secondary to deposits of transthyretin and immunoglobulin light chains. Treatment depends on the type of amyloidosis. Cardiac light chain amyloidosis is a medical emergency. Aim: To highlight the importance of an early diagnosis of cardiac light chain amyloidosis. Case Presentation: We report the case of an 88-year-old hypertensive female patient with sustained atrial fibrillation and recurrent heart failure, in whom echocardiography showed concentric left ventricle hypertrophy with mildly reduced left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) to 45%. Bone scintigraphy was normal. Serum analysis showed increased lambda free light chains. Accessory salivary gland biopsy revealed weak Kappa light chain staining and clear overexpression of lambda light chain deposits. The diagnosis of stage 3B cardiac amyloidosis secondary to lambda light chain myeloma was made. After a multidisciplinary meeting, it was decided to start treatment with DARATUMUMAB + LENALIDOMIDE. Patient’s general condition deteriorated with the occurrence of febrile pancytopenia. Chemotherapy was stopped and management was limited to comfort care until the patient’s death. Conclusion: Cardiac light-chain amyloidosis must be diagnosed early as it can be rapidly fatal.

Consumers’ Perception and Knowledge of Food Additives in Senegal: A Pilot Study

Food safety has become a major concern for consumers, as well as a priority for regulatory authorities. Faced with the growing industrial and domestic use of food additives, many questions are being asked and concerns are being felt by consumers around the world. Consumer perception defines the acceptability or rejection of food products, and has an impact on consumption patterns and behavior. To assess the level of knowledge and perception of food additives, a pilot study was carried out on a sample of 200 people in Dakar and Saint-Louis. A questionnaire was used to assess the acceptance or rejection, use and impact of food additives by consumers in Senegal. The results revealed several aspects. On the whole, the people surveyed expressed great mistrust and even rejection of these substances added to food products. This consumer perception is shared throughout the world, as indicated in numerous surveys. It also emerges from this study that, although most consumers are aware of the existence of these additives and their uses in the home, they feel that the use of these substances in industrial production is too excessive. What’s more, consumers associate food additives with numerous pathologies such as cancer, diabetes, hypertension, stroke and even sexual impotence. For some of these indexed pathologies, scientific studies have reached the same conclusions, although controversy still persists. On the other hand, for some of the other adverse effects mentioned, no cause-and-effect relationship has been scientifically demonstrated. In these latter cases, it seems that negative communication, misinformation and misconceptions have a major influence on consumer perception of food additives.

Background: Urethrocystoscopy is a method of endoscopic exploration that allows direct visualization of the urethra and bladder for diagnosis or treatment of diseases of the lower urinary tract. Purpose: To determine the epidemiological profile of patients who underwent urethrocystoscopy and to present the indications and the results of this endoscopic examination. Patients and Methods: This is a retrospective, descriptive study of all patients who underwent outpatient urethrocystoscopy in the Urology and Andrology department of Grand Mbour hospital. The epidemiological data of the patients, the indications, the results of the endoscopic exploration and the additional procedures performed were entered and analyzed with Excel 2016. We performed descriptive statistics. Results: Of the 216 patients who underwent outpatient urethrocystoscopy, we counted 179 men (82.87%) and 37 women (17.13%). The sex ratio was 4.84. The mean age of the patients was 53.71 ± 18.76 years (age range 17 to 91 years). The main indications were lower urinary tract disorders (60.18%) and hematuria (28.70%). Endoscopic exploration revealed prostatic tumor in 69 patients (31.9%), 29 cases of bladder tumors (13.4%) and 19 cases of bilharzia cystitis (8.8%). The urethrocystoscopy was normal in 32 patients (14.8%). Conclusion: Urethrostoscopy is an endoscopic exploration examination that can be performed on an outpatient basis. Lower tract urinary disorders and hematuria were the main indications.

Prostate Cancer in the Thies Region, Senegal: Epidemiological, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Aspects

Introduction: Prostate cancer is the leading urological cancer. It is the most common cancer in men over 50. Objective: To determine the epidemiological, diagnostic and therapeutic characteristics of prostate cancer in hospitals in the Thiès region. Patients and Methods: We conducted a descriptive study from January 1st, 2015 to December 31st, 2020. We included all cases of primary prostate cancer confirmed on histology. Results: We collected data on 318 cases of primary prostate cancer during the study period. Mean patient age was 72.7 years (Range: 49;94 years). Family history of prostate cancer was found in 22 patients (6.91%). The average consultation time was 18.6 months. The circumstances of discovery were dominated by obstructive voiding disorders (97.16%). Digital Rectal examination was suggestive in 55.40% of patients. PSA level was above 20 ng/ml in 76.7% of patients. Prostatic adenocarcinoma was the only histological type (100%). Localized cancer represented 7.2% and locally advanced cancer occurred in 36.5% of cases, while metastatic cancer accounted for 56.3%. Radical prostatectomy was performed in 3.18% of cases. Mortality rate was estimated at 8.50% after 1 year. Conclusion: Prostate cancer is the leading urological cancer in the Thies region. It is characterized by the predominance of locally advanced and metastatic forms.
