Bayesian inference-based wear prediction method for plain bearings under stationary mixed-friction conditions

This study introduces a method to predict the remaining useful life(RUL)of plain bearings operating under stationary,wear-critical *** this method,the transient wear data of a coupled elastohydrodynamic lubrication(mixed-EhL)and wear simulation approach is used to parametrize a statistical,linear degradation *** method incorporates Bayesian inference to update the linear degradation model throughout the runtime and thereby consider the transient,system-dependent wear progression within the RUL prediction.A case study is used to show the suitability of the proposed *** results show that the method can be applied to three distinct types of post-wearing-in behavior:wearing-in with subsequent hydrodynamic,stationary wear,and progressive wear *** hydrodynamic operation leads to an infinite lifetime,the method is successfully applied to predict RUL in cases with stationary and progressive wear.

An innovative monochromator shielding is designed and implemented for the cold neutron spectrometers XINGZhI and BOYA operated by Renmin University of China at China Advanced Research *** Monte Carlo simulations and careful mechanical designs,a shielding configuration has been successfully developed to satisfy safety requirements of below 3μSv/h dose rate at its exterior,meanwhile fulfilling space,floor load and nonmagnetic *** materials are utilized to form the sandwich-type shielding walls:the inner layer of boron carbide rubber,the middle layer of steel-encased lead and the outer layer of borated ***-shaped liftable shielding blocks are incorporated to facilitate a continuous adjustment of the neutron energy while preventing radiation *** work has demonstrated that by utilizing composite shielding materials,along with the sandwich structure and liftable shielding blocks,a compact and lightweight shielding solution can be *** enables the realization of advanced neutron scattering instruments that provide expanded space of measurement,larger energy and momentum coverage,and higher flux on the *** shielding represents the first of its kind in neutron scattering instruments in *** its successful operation,it has been subsequently employed by other neutron instruments across the country.

The lithium-sulfur(Li-S)technology is the most promising candidate for next-generation batteries due to its high theoretical specific energy and steady progress for applications requiring lightweight batteries such as aviation or heavy electric *** these applications,however,the rate capability of Li-S cells requires significant *** electrolyte formulations in Li-S batteries enable new pathways for cell development and adjustment of all ***,their rate capability at pouch cell level is often neither evaluated nor compared to state of the art(SOTA)LiTFSI/dimethoxyethane/dioxolane(LITFSI:lithium-bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide)***,the combination of the sparingly polysulfide(PS)solvating hexylmethylether/1,2-dimethoxyethane(hME/DME)electrolyte and highly conductive carbon nanotube Buckypaper(CNT-BP)with low porosity was evaluated in both coin and pouch cells and compared to dimethoxyethane/dioxolane reference *** advanced sulfur transfer melt infiltration was employed for cathode production with *** Li+ion coordination in the hME/DME electrolyte was investigated by nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)and Raman ***,ionic conductivity and viscosity was investigated for the pristine electrolyte and a polysulfide-statured *** electrolytes,DME/DOL-1/1(DOL:1,3-dioxolane)and hME/DME-8/2,are then combined with CNT-BP and transferred to multi-layered pouch *** study reveals that the ionic conductivity of the electrolyte increases drastically over state of(dis)charge especially for DME/DOL electrolyte and lean electrolyte regime leading to a better rate capability for the sparingly polysulfide solvating *** evaluation in prototype cells is an important step towards bespoke adaption of Li-S batteries for practical applications.

helicobacter pylori (h. pylori) is a pathogenic, extracellular bacterium that colonizes the stomach in approximately 50% of the world population. It strongly interacts with the gastric epithelium and mostly causes asymptomatic gastritis. The colonization of h. pylori leads to ulcer development in around 20% of infected patients and may progress to gastric cancer or mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma in 1%. Thus, h. pylori is the major cause of gastric cancer worldwide. It has been classified as a class I carcinogen by the World health Organization. Since its discovery in the early eighties by Warren and Marshall, research has been focused on the investigation of h. pylori biology, host-pathogen interaction, prevention and treatment. Although h. pylori induces a strong humoral and local cellular immune response, the pathogen is not cleared and establishes a chronic infection after encounters in childhood. The ability to colonize the stomach is mediated by several virulence factors that change the host environment, promote adhesion to the epithelium, influence the gastric inflammation and induce immune evasion. h. pylori can be eradicated by antibiotic treatment in combination with a proton-pump inhibitor, but efficacy is decreasing. Current therapies are expensive, have side effects and contribute to increasing antibiotic resistance, underlining the need for novel therapeutics.

Co-Al-W-0.1B superalloys have been isothermally oxidized at 900℃ for 1000,5000 and 10000 h in order to investigate their oxidation *** oxide layers and morphologies were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy combined with energy-dispersive ***1000 h exposure,a Co3W/γ zone,an Al2O3layer,a mixture of Co,Al,W oxides layer and a CoO layer are established on the substrate *** extended oxidation,a discontinuous Al2O3layer in Co-9Al-8W-0.1B and Co-9Al-9W-0.1B alloys leads to an additional mixed oxide layer on the substrate instead of the Co3W/γ *** oxide layers that form on the Co-9Al-8W-0.1B and Co-9Al-9W-0.1B alloys are much thicker than those on the Co-9Al-11W-0.1B alloy,and continuously thicken during *** higher content of W is beneficial to improving the oxidation resistance as it facilitates a faster formation of Co3Was well as Al2O3.

MicroRNAs(miRNAs) are small RNAs regulate gene expression by inhibiting the turnover of their target mRNAs. In the last years, it became apparent that miRNAs are released into the circulation and circulating miRNAs emerged as a new class of biomarkers for various diseases. In this review we summarize available data on the role of circulating miRNAs in the context of acute and chronic liver diseases including hepatocellular and cholangiocellular carcinoma. Data from animal models are compared to human data and current challenges in the field of miRNAs research are discussed.
