Recent advances in the understanding of deltaic deposits provide new tools for the study and analysis of deltaic deposits in shallow epicontinental *** the introduction of sequence stratigraphic concepts,meter-scale coarsening and thickening upward successions have been considered as“parasequences”originated by high-frequency sea-level ***,recent studies enhanced the importance of wave-aided low-dense hyperpycnal flows in transporting fine-grained sediments in shallow shelfal *** poorly-known(and at the same time very common)types of delta,known as hyperpycnal littoral deltas(HLd),develop very low gradient progradational units,controlled by changes in the sediment supply instead of sea level *** small-scale progradational units are very common in shallow epicontinental seas like the Lower Cretaceous Agrio Formation in the Neuquén *** study provides a first detailed analysis of hyperpycnal littoral deltas from the Agua de la Mula Member(upper Hauterivian-lower Barremian)of the Agrio *** unit has been studied in three locations near Bajada del Agrio locality in the central part of the Neuquén Basin,*** sandy facies,three heterolithic facies,three muddy facies and four calcareous facies were *** facies analysis,three facies associations could be determined,corresponding to offshore/prodelta,distal ramp delta and proximal ramp *** three stratigraphic sections discussed in this study are internally composed of several small-scale sequences showing a coarsening and thickening upward pattern,transitionally going from muddy to sandy wave-dominated facies,and ending with calcareous bioclastics levels on *** small-scale sequences are interpreted as delta front deposits of wave-influenced hyperpycnal littoral deltas,punctuated by calcareous intervals accumulated during periods of low sediment *** is interpreted that the development of hyperpycnal littoral deltas could have been

Efficiency of HAART in the prevention of mother to children HIV-1 transmission at Saint Camille medical centre in Burkina Faso,West Africa

Objective:To evaluate efficiency of HAART in the prevention of mother to child HIV ***:A longitudinal study was conducted on 1 300 women attending the antenatal service at Saint Camille Medical Centre from September 2010 to July *** HIV status of mothers was determined by rapid tests and *** results were confirmed by real-time *** was used to determine HIV status of children born from HIV-positive ***:Among 1 300 pregnant women tested for HIV,378 were *** were predominantly housewives(69.7%),and their mean age was(28.32±0.15) *** overall prevalence of HIV transmission from mother to child was 4.8%(18/378).This prevalence differed significantly from 0.0%(0/114) to 6.8%(18/264) in children born from mothers under HAART and those with mothers under New Prophylactic Protocol(ACT + 3TC + NVP),respectively(Pdren’s mortality rate during the medical follow up was 1.3%(5/378).Among 16 women with HIV dubious status by ELISA,the Real Time PCR confirmed 2/16(12.5%) as HIV positive. Conclusions:The protocol of prevention of mother to children HIV transmission(PMTCT) is *** rate of HIV vertical transmission is significantly *** diagnosis determined by PCR of children born from HIV- positive mother is necessary and recommended in the context of PMTCT in Burkina *** also found that PCR is an effective tool to confirm HIV status in pregnant women.

Antimicrobial resistance of abnormal vaginal discharges microorganisms in Ouagadougou,Burkina Faso

Objective:To assess the prevalence of bacterial strains and fungal strains infecting the vaginal tract and test their sensitivity to antibiotics in women attending Saint Camille Medical Centre in ***:From January 2008 to december 2009,a total of 2000 vaginal swabs were cultivated for bacterial and fungal identification and ***,bacterial strains were tested for their susceptibility to several antibiotics used in routine in the centre. Results:The results revealed that microbial isolation and identification was attempted for 1536/2000 sample,a positivity rate of 76.80%.Candida albicans(48.76%),followed by Escherichia coli(16.67%),Streptococcus agalactiae(8-14%) and Staphylococcus aureus(7.55%) were the major agents of genital tract infections in *** hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum combined accounted for less than 7%.Trichomonas vaginalis was identified in 1.04%*** antimicrobial tests revealed that the microorganisms developed resistance to several antibiotics including beta ***,antibiotics such as cefamenzol,ciprofloxacin and norfloxacin were still active on these ***:The results reveal that many sexually active women are infected by one or more microbial pathogens,probably because of the lock of hygiene or the adoption of some risky behaviors,such as not using condoms or having multiple sexual *** should be made to address these points in the country.

Epidemiological and Clinical Aspects of Acne in the dermatology department of the Teaching Hospital of Parakou (Benin)

Introduction: Acne is an affection that concerns 80% of young people in the world with a significant impact on their quality of life. The purpose of this study was to determine the epidemiological and clinical aspects of the acne in the dermatology department of the Teaching Hospital of Parakou (THP). Patients and Methods: We achieved a cross sectional study carrying on 167 files collected on a 20-month period in the dermatology department of the THP. Results: The prevalence of the acne was 31.21%. Female subjects represented 69.46%. Vulgaris acne was the most prevailing clinical form (47.30%). A peak of frequency was noted in the age bracket of 21 - 25 years in the 2 sexes. The lesions were mainly located on the face (82.63%). Some factors influencing the eruption have been evoked by the patients notably: foods, cosmetics products and stress respectively to 41.00%, 33.33% and 25.67%. Conclusion: Our study allowed confirming the female ascendancy of acne. Besides, the adults are more represented, precisely women because of depigmenting practice. It seems in favor of an influence of the food in the intervening of the acne. Vulgaris acne was the predominant clinical form as described in literature.

Epidemiological and Clinical Aspects of Neonatal dermatoses at the National Teaching Hospital HKM of Cotonou Benin

Neonatal dermatoses (NNd) are frequent, varied and of variable prognosis. The objective of this work was to study the epidemiological and clinical aspects of NNd at the NTH-HKM. Methods: This was a cross-sectional descriptive and analytical study from december 1, 2014 to February 28, 2015. All newborns received in the department of Pediatrics and Medical Genetics and with dermatosis were included. The diagnosis of dermatoses was clinical. Results: during the study period, 355 newborns had at least one NNd on a total of 580 newborns received, a prevalence of 61.2%. The sex ratio was 1.54 and the average age was 3.11 days. Transient dermatoses were more frequent (80%), dominated by desquamation + xerosis (33.75%). Congenital melanocytic nevi (40.74%) and malformations and vascular tumors (18.52%) were the most noted pathological neonatal dermatoses. Only age was statistically associated with NNd. Conclusion: dNH is common in newborns at the NTH-HKM. They were mostly transitory. Pathological conditions should be treated where appropriate.

Genetic diversity of hepatitis viruses in West-African countries from 1996 to 2018

The severity of hepatic pathology and the response to treatment depend on the hepatitis virus genotype in the infected host. The objective of this review was to determine the distribution of hepatitis virus genotypes in West African countries. A systematic review of the literature in PubMed, Google Scholar and Science direct was performed to identify 52 relevant articles reporting hepatitis A, B, C, d, E and G viruses *** B virus(HBV) genotype E with a prevalence of 90.6%(95%CI: 0.891-0.920) found in this review, is characterized by low genetic diversity. Hepatitis C virus(HCV) genotypes 1 and 2 represented 96.4% of HCV infections in West African countries, while hepatitis delta virus, hepatitis A virus, hepatitis G virus genotypes 1 and HEV genotype 3 were reported in some studies in Ghana and Nigeria. HBV genotype E is characterized by high prevalence, low genetic diversity and wide geographical distribution. Further studies on the clinical implications of HBV genotype E and HCV genotypes 1 and 2 are needed for the development of an effective treatment against this viral hepatitis in West African countries. Surveillance of the distribution of different genotypes is also needed to reduce recombination rates and prevent the emergence of more virulent viral strains.
