Co-crystals of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs):Insight toward formation,methods,and drug enhancement

Pharmaceutical co-crystals have been explored by many researchers as a strategy to optimize physicochemical properties of solid-state *** improvements of solubility,bioavailability,and the reduced tendency for phase transformation occurrence,are factors that highlight benefits of pharmaceutical co-crystals among other solid *** to the Biopharmaceutical Classification System(BCS),non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs)are class Ⅱ drugs,which have low aqueous solubility and therefore co-crystallization has the potential to optimize NSAID product *** this review,we highlight the recent progress made on NSAIDs co-crystals,their co-formers,synthesis,methods and use,while we underline some promising results on in vitro and in vivo co-crystal properties.A celecoxib-tramadol co-crystal reaches phase Ⅲ clinical trials,showing greater analgesic activity than both individual *** aqueous solubility of the co-crystal formed between l-proline and diclofenac is very high in comparison with the pure *** co-crystals with urea and thiourea have an increase of drug release of almost 60%.Co-crystal design brings a new perspective in drug development since the co-former used can also be a biologically active component allowing to combine different anti-inflammatory drugs,which have an incredible spectrum of application due to the analgesic,anti-pyretic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Impact characterization on thin structures using machine learning approaches

Machine learning algorithms are trained and compared to identify and to characterise the impact on typical aerospace panels of different *** activities are conducted to build a proper impacts’*** regression algorithm and artificial neural network are applied and optimised to panels without stringer to test their capability to identify the ***,the algorithms are applied to panels reinforced with stringers that represent a significant increase of complexity in terms of dynamic features of the system to test:the focus is not only on the impact position’s detection but also on the event’s *** the identification of the best algorithm,the corresponding machine learning model is deployed on an ARM processor minicomputer,implementing an impact detection system,able to be installed on board an aerial vehicle,making it a smart aircraft equipped with an artificial intelligence decision-making system.

Nitrogen fertilization and potassium requirement for cereal crops under a continuous no-till system

Nitrogen(N)and potassium(K)are the most required nutrients for corn and wheat *** the N application rate usually boosts crop ***,many uncertainties remain for K *** deficiency results in yield losses,but K application rate based on the percentage of K+in the cation exchange capacity(CEC)is doubtful,especially in soil with high CEC.A field trial was conducted to examine the effects of KCl application before sowing corn and wheat,by raising the percentage of K+in CEC at pH 7.0(CECpH7.0)to approximately 2.5%,3.5%,and 4.5%,and adding N as a topdressing(75,150,and 225 kg ha-1 to corn and 40,80,and 120 kg ha-1 to wheat)on the nutrition and yield of corn and wheat under a continuous no-till system(30 years).Exchangeable K+content increased in the topsoil(0–20 cm depth)up to 7.2 mmolc dm-3 after K application at the highest rate,which,however,did not result in significant increases in nutrient uptake and yields for both corn and *** N application rate positively affected the uptake and removal of all macronutrients by corn and *** N as a topdressing increased yields of corn and wheat by up to 83%and 22%,*** results suggest that in the soil with a high CECpH7.0(162.1 mmolc dm-3),the recommendation for K application made by considering the percentage of K+in the CECpH7.0 may result in excessive application of K fertilizer to crops with high K-recycling potential grown under a continuous no-till system.

Ultrastructural features of the hypopharyngeal glands in the social wasp Polistes versicolor （Hymenoptera： Vespidae）

The wasps of the genus Polistes have been considered the key to understanding the evolution of social behavior in Hymenoptera. Several studies have shown that the development of organized insect societies was accompanied by the evolution of structures like exocrine glands, which became specialized to perform specific functions. This article investigates the ultrastructural and cytochemical features of the hypopharyngeal glands of Polistes versicolor. These glands have been studied in depth in social bees, where they occur only in nurses and produce the royal jelly. Our results＇ revealed that these glands basically did not vary among individuals or between sexes. They are constituted by spherical cells, each with a large nucleus and well-developed rough endoplasmic reticulum. Secretion vesicles are abundant, but lipid droplets were not observed, indicating that these glands may not have a role in pheromone synthesis. Acid phosphatase was detected in lysosomes, and also flee in the cytosol, but did not seem to be related with cell death. Thus, our results suggest that the hypopharyngeal glands ofP. versicolor may not have a specialized social role, but could produce digestive enzymes.

An overview on nucleation theories and models

Several different models for coercivity are discussed. There are two main situations: i) nanocrystalline magnets, with grain size bellow the single domain particle size, and ii) magnets with grain size above single domain particle size. The described theories and models are general, and can be applied in either NdFeB magnets, SmFeCoCuZr or strontium ferrite magnets. The spring effect observed in isotropic nanocrystalline magnets can be explained with the Stoner-Wohlfarth model. Modifications of the StonerWohlfarth model are necessary to take into account the effect of interaction between grains. When the grain size is above the single domain size, energy considerations show that nucleation should occur at the surface of grains. Nucleation is interpreted as a two-step process, where domain wall displacement occurs for grain size above single domain size, after a nucleus is first formed. The effect of grain size on the coercive field is discussed.

Reducing architecture:Doing almost nothing as a city-making strategy in 21st century architecture

This paper discusses a contemporary design strategy to deal with urban *** 21st century architecture it is possible to recognize the existence of several projects that consist in doing almost nothing,carrying out only minimal modifications to their sites of *** present-day architecture,this approach is considered useful sometimes to respect the surroundings and sometimes to improve them through the smallest and tiniest *** almost nothing is a strategy that can unfold in many *** can mean opting for inaction and thus not modifying a place at all;or designing a temporary project intended to occupy it only for a limited period of time;or also carrying out a particularly small but permanent *** on the circumstances,it is an approach that can help architecture protecting a place,reclaiming it or reactivating its latent *** strategy can be implemented both through a single intervention on a specific place,or through a network of coordinated projects in different *** purpose of the paper is to present this approach in the context of 21st century urban architecture,through cases studied from the last two decades.

The GATK joint genotyping workflow is appropriate for calling variants in RNA-seq experiments

The Genome Analysis Toolkit(GATK) is a popular set of programs for discovering and genotyping variants from next-generation sequencing *** current GATK recommendation for RNA sequencing(RNA-seq) is to perform variant calling from individual samples,with the drawback that only variable positions are *** 3.0 and above of GATK offer the possibility of calling DNA variants on cohorts of samples using the HaplotypeCaller algorithm in Genomic Variant Call Format(GVCF) *** this approach,variants are called individually on each sample,generating one GVCF file per sample that lists genotype likelihoods and their genome *** a second step,variants are called from the GVCF files through a joint genotyping *** strategy is more flexible and reduces computational challenges in comparison to the traditional joint discovery *** a GVCF workflow for mining SNP in RNA-seq data provides substantial advantages,including reporting homozygous genotypes for the reference allele as well as missing *** advantage of RNA-seq data derived from primary macrophages isolated from 50 cows,the GATK joint genotyping method for calling variants on RNA-seq data was validated by comparing this approach to a so-called "per-sample" *** addition,pair-wise comparisons of the two methods were performed to evaluate their respective sensitivity,precision and accuracy using DNA genotypes from a companion study including the same 50 cows genotyped using either genotyping-by-sequencing or with the Bovine SNP50 Beadchip(imputed to the Bovine high density).Results indicate that both approaches are very close in their capacity of detecting reference variants and that the joint genotyping method is more sensitive than the per-sample *** that the joint genotyping method is more flexible and technically easier,we recommend this approach for variant calling in RNA-seq experiments.

A compact underwater stereo vision system for measuring fish

contributes for decisions at several production ***,taking length measurements is a cumbersome task that,when applied to living individuals,can induce considerable stress,increasing the risk of damage or hindering their *** vision is one of the most used non-contact tools to overcome this issue,being fast,consistent and ***,its use in aquatic environments is limited by the high cost,the difficulty of calibrating the system in underwater conditions and the complexity of *** paper proposes a low-cost easy-to-use vision system that can take measurements on live fish in aquatic conditions,without the need for a special calibration or a demanding in-water calibration *** present work implemented a compact stereo vision system and developed a method that estimates the correct length of fish,based on the variation of the angle of incidence of the light rays in the *** some structural conditions such as a short baseline,the system is able to measure fish with an error of less than 1%.The short baseline allows to have a compact system and reduces the effect of water refraction on the 3D reconstruction.A set of experiments were performed with real fish,working robustly for a set of orientations of the fish(even when the caudal fin and snout are on different distances to the cameras).

A computer vision system for early detection of anthracnose in sugar mango(Mangifera indica)based on UV-A illumination

The present work describes the development of a computer vision system for the early detection of anthracnose in sugar mango based on Ultraviolet A illumination(UV-A).Anthracnose,a disease caused by the fungus Colletotrichum sp,is commonly found in the fruit of sugar mango(Mangifera indica).It manifests as surface defects including black spots and is responsible for reducing the quality of the ***,it decreases its commercial *** more detail,this study poses a system that begins with image acquisition under white and ultraviolet ***,it proposes to analyze the Red,Green and Blue color information(R,G,B)of the pixels under two types of illumination,using four different methods:RGB-threshold,RGB-Linear Discriminant Analysis(RGBLDA),UV-LDA,and *** analysis produces an early semantic segmentation of healthy and diseased areas of the mango *** results showed that the combination of the linear discriminant analysis(LDA)and UV-A light(called UV-LDA method)in sugar mango images allows early detection of ***,this method achieves the identification of the disease one day earlier than by an expert with respect to the scale of anthracnose severity implemented in this work.

The study of parental food provisioning is essential for understanding the breeding ecology of *** conducted the first study using accelerometry to detect food provisioning in birds,using Support Vector Machine(SVM)models to identify when adults feed chicks of three different age *** were attached to the head of adult female Imperial Shags(Leucocarbo atriceps),and various attributes derived from the acceleration signals were used to train SVM models for each chick age *** performance improved with chick age class,with SVM models achieving high overall accuracy(>88%)and highest sensitivity in older chick categories(>91%).However,precision values,especially for younger chicks,remained relatively low(between 26%and 45%).The application of a time filter based on the minimum duration of the observed food provisioning behaviours for each chick age category,improved model performance by reducing false provisioning behaviours,particularly in the model for older chicks,which showed the highest precision(72.4%).This study highlights the effectiveness of accelerometry and machine learning in studying parental food provisioning in birds,providing a rapid and accurate data collection method to complement traditional *** described methodology can be applied to any bird species that exhibits distinctive movements while feeding its offspring and has suitable characteristics for attaching an accelerometer to the body part that best captures this ***,it is hoped that the results of this study will contribute to future research on key questions in parental investment theory and reproductive strategies in birds.
