The transient receptor potential melastatin 2 is a calcium-permeable cation channel member of.the TRP f.mily. Also known as an oxidative stress-activated channel, the transient receptor potential melastatin 2 gating mechanism is dependent on reactive oxygen species. In pathological conditions, transient receptor potential melastatin 2 is overactivated, leading to a Ca~(2+) influx that alters cell homeostasis and promotes cell death. The role of.transient receptor potential melastatin 2 in neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease and ischemia, has already been described and reviewed. However, data on transient receptor potential melastatin 2 involvement in Parkinson's disease pathology has emerged only in recent years and the issue lacks review studies that f.cus specif.cally on this topic. The present review aims to elucidate the role of.the transient receptor potential melastatin 2 channel in Parkinson's disease by reviewing, summarizing, and discussing the in vitro, in vivo, and human studies published until August 2022. Here we describe f.urteen studies that evaluated the transient receptor potential melastatin 2 channel in Parkinson's disease. The Parkinson's disease model used, transient receptor potential melastatin 2 antagonist and genetic approaches, and the main outcomes reported were discussed. The studies described transient receptor potential melastatin 2 activation and enhanced expression in dif.erent Parkinson's disease models. They also evidenced protective and restorative ef.ects when using transient receptor potential melastatin 2 antagonists, knockout, or silencing. This review provides a literature overview and suggests where there is a need f.r more research. As a perspective point, this review shows evidence that supports transient receptor potential melastatin 2 as a pharmacological target f.r Parkinson's disease in the f.ture.

The volumetric variability of.dry tropical f.rests in Brazil and the scarcity of.studies on the subject show the need f.r the development of.techniques that make it possible to obtain adequate and accurate wood volume *** this study,we analyzed a database of.thinning trees f.om a f.rest management plan in the Contendas de SincoráNational f.rest,southwestern Bahia State,*** data set included a total of.300 trees with a trunk diameter ranging f.om 5 to 52 ***,validation and statistical selection of.f.ur volumetric models were *** to the dif.erence in height values f.r the same diameter and the low correlation between both variables,we do not suggest models which only use the diameter at breast height(DBH)variable as a predictor because they accommodate the largest estimation *** comparing the best single entry model(Hohenald-Krenn)with the Spurr model(best f.t model),it is noted that the exclusion of.height as a predictor causes the values of.136.44 and 0.93 f.r Akaike inf.rmation criterion(AIC)and adjusted determination coef.icient(R2 adj),which are poorer than the second best model(Schumacher-Hall).Regarding the minimum sample size,errors in estimation(root mean square error(RMSE)and bias)of.the best model decrease as the sample size increases,especially when a larger number of.trees with DBH≥15.0 cm are randomly *** sampling by diameter class produces smaller volume prediction errors than random sampling,especially when considering all *** summary,the Spurr and Schumacher-Hall models perf.rm *** models suggest that the total variance explained in the estimates is not less than 95%,producing reliable f.recasts of.the total volume with *** estimates indicate that the bias around the average is not greater than 7%.Our results support the decision to use regression methods to build models and estimate their parameters,seeking stratif.cation strategies in diameter classes f.r the sample trees.

Gastric cancer remains one of.the leading causes of.cancer-related death worldwide,and most of.the cases are associated with Helicobacter pylori *** bacterium promotes the production of.reactive oxygen species(ROS),which cause DNA damage in gastric epithelial *** this study,we evaluated the expression of.important genes involved in the recognition of.DNA damage(ATM,ATR,and H2AX)and ROS-induced damage repair(APE1)and the expression of.some miRNAs(miR-15a,miR-21,miR-24,miR-421 and miR-605)that target genes involved in the DNA damage response(DDR)in 31 f.esh tissues of.gastric *** v3.1.1 was used to construct the postulated miRNA:mRNA interaction *** perf.rmed by real-time quantitative PCR exhibited signif.cantly increased levels of.the APE1(RQ=2.55,pf.cantly elevated levels of.miR-21,miR-24 and miR-421 were observed in dif.use-type gastric *** analysis reinf.rced some of.the gene:gene(ATM/ATR/H2AX)and miRNA:mRNA relationships obtained also with the interaction ***,our f.ndings show that tumor cells f.om gastric cancer presents deregulation of.genes and miRNAs that participate in the recognition and repair of.DNA damage,which could conf.r an advantage to cell survival and prolif.ration in the tumor microenvironment.

A new CCD （V） light curve is presented f.r the semi-detached binary system f. Ara. The light curve, obtained in 2007, is the f.rst one since the last 50 years. With our data we were able to determine six new times of.minimum light and ref.ned the period of.the system to 0.8645049 days. A Wilson-Devinney analysis leads to a solution of.a semi- detached conf.guration, composed of.a main-sequence primary component of.spectral type f., f.actionally smaller than its Roche lobe, and an evolved secondary component of.spectral type K1 which f.lls its Roche lobe, and which is overluminous and oversized as compared with the main-sequence. The two components of.f. Ara dif.er considerably in ef.ective temperature. It is classif.ed as an f. Virginis type of.near-contact binary system. Assuming a reasonable value f.r the mass of.the primary component, an estimate of.the absolute elements of.f. Ara has been made, on the assumption that the primary has a mass corresponding to its spectral type according to Svechnikov ＆ Taidakova.

In this investigation, aluminide coatings used to protect industrial components at high temperature and corrosive environments were modif.ed with silicon addition and the microstructural f.atures and f.rmation mechanism were evaluated. The coating on the nickel-based superalloy IN738LC was carried out by a two stage process including siliconizing at f.rst and aluminizing thereaf.er. Pack cementation siliconizing perf.rmed at 950C f.r 2, 4 and 6 hours in several powder mixtures of.Si, A12O3 and NHiCl, then aluminum was dif.used into the surf.ce of.the specimens by an industrial aluminizing process. The modif.ed coatings were characterized by means of.standard metallography, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and X-ray dif.raction methods. The results show that Si in the coatings mainly presents in the f.rm of.secondary phases including Cr3Si, Mo5Si3 and Nii6Ti6Si7, well distributed within the NiAl matrix. The advantages of.this two stage modif.ed coating is discussed.

This article presents closed-f.rm solutions f.r the f.equency analysis of.rectangular f.nctionally graded material (f.M) thin plates subjected to initially in-plane loads and with an elastic f.undation. Based on classical thin plate theory, the governing dif.erential equations are derived using Hamilton's principle. A neutral surf.ce is used to eliminate stretching-bending coupling in f.M plates on the basis of.the assumption of.constant Poisson's ratio. The resulting governing equation of.f.M thin plates has the same f.rm as homogeneous thin plates. The separation-of.variables method is adopted to obtain solutions f.r the f.ee vibration problems of.rectangular f.M thin plates with separable boundary conditions, including, f.r example, clamped plates. The obtained normal modes and f.equencies are in elegant closed f.rms, and present f.rmulations and solutions are validated by comparing present results with those in the literature and f.nite element method results obtained by the authors. A parameter study reveals the ef.ects of.the power law index n and aspect ratio a/b on f.equencies.

Phylogenetic reconstruction of.Chirita and allies (Gesneriaceae) with taxonomic treatments

Chirita D. Don, a large genus in the subf.mily Cyrtandroideae of.Gesneriaceae, has been the subject of.much debate whether it is a natural group or not. In addition, the highly heterogeneous Chirita has also been very problematic with regard to delimitation and subdivision. Here we used the nrDNA internal transcribed spacer and cpDNA trnL-f.f.r molecular phylogenetic analaysis, combined with morphological data. Our results suggest that Chirita is an artif.cial, polyphyletic genus. The most important character that def.nes Chirita, the dorso-ventrally oblique and bilamellar stigma, has evolved convergently in dif.erent clades of.diandrous Cyrtandroideae. Chirita sensu stricto only includes the species of.Chirita sect. Chirita, whereas Chirita sect. Microchirita is an independent clade located at the basal node of.the phylogenetic tree. Chirita sect. Liebigia is closely related to Didymocarpus with an entire stigma unlike other species of.Chirita. The species of.Chirita sect. Gibbosaccus, Chiritopsis, Primulina, and Wentsaiboea f.rm a monophyletic group that is sister to a strongly supported clade comprising f.ur monotypic genera Paralagarosolen, Calcareoboea, Petrocodon, and Tengia. We f.rther analyzed the morphological evolution of.Chirita and identif.ed a series of.morphological synapomorphies f.r the monophyletic groups revealed herein, and thereby provide a taxonomic treatment in this study.

Light emitted by an atomic source of.radiation appears to travel along a straight line （ray） f.om the location of.the source to the observer in the f.r f.eld. However, when the energy flow pattern of.the radiation is resolved with an accuracy better than an optical wavelength, it turns out that the f.eld lines are usually curved. We consider electric dipole radiation, a prime example of.which is the radiation emitted by an atom during an electronic transition, and we show that the f.eld lines of.energy flow are in general curves. Near the location of.the dipole, the f.eld lines exhibit a vortex structure, and in the f.r f.eld they approach a straight line. The spatial extension of.the vortex in the optical near f.eld is of.nanoscale dimension. Due to the rotation of.the f.eld lines near the source, the asymptotic limit of.a f.eld line is not exactly in the radially outward direction and as a consequence, the image in the f.r f.eld is slightly shif.ed. This sub-wavelength displacement of.the image of.the source should be amenable to experimental observation with contemporary nanoscale-precision techniques.
