BACKGROUND Ventriculoperitoneal(VP)shunt placement has become a standard of care procedure in managing hydrocephalus for drainage and absorption of cerebrospinal fluid(CsF)into the *** pseudocysts containing CsF are the common long-term complication of this frequently performed procedure,mainly because VP shunts have significantly prolonged *** these,liver CsF pseudocysts are rare entities that may cause shunt dysfunction,affect normal organ function,and therefore pose therapeutic *** sUMMARY A 49-year-old man with history of congenital hydrocephalus status post bilateral VP shunt placement presented with progressively worsening dyspnea on exertion,abdominal discomfort/*** computed tomography(CT)scan revealed a large CsF pseudocyst in the right hepatic lobe with the tip of VP shunt catheter into the hepatic cyst *** underwent robotic laparoscopic cyst fenestration with a partial hepatectomy,and repositioning of VP shunt catheter to the right lower quadrant of the ***-up CT demonstrated a significant reduction in hepatic CsF *** A high index of clinical suspicion is required for early detection of liver CsF pseudocysts since their presentation is often asymptomatic and cunning early in the ***-stage liver CsF pseudocysts could have adverse outcomes on the treatment course of hydrocephalus as well as on hepatobiliary *** is paucity of data to define the management of liver CsF pseudocyst in current guidelines due to rare nature of this *** reported occurrences have been managed by laparotomy with debridement,paracentesis,radiological imaging guided fluid aspiration and laparoscopic-associated cyst *** surgery is an additional minimally invasive option in the management of hepatic CsF pseudocyst;however,its use is limited by lack of widespread availability and cost of surgery.

BACKGROUND Herbal supplements(Hs)for weight loss are perceived to be“safe”and“natural”,as advertised in ads,however,hepatotoxicity can be associated with consumption of some *** of Hs may be missed,as the patient may not report these unless specifically asked about these products,since they are often not thought of as medications with potential side effects or interaction *** sUMMARY We reported a case of a 21-year-old female with morbid obesity who presented with abdominal pain for 1 wk associated with nausea,vomiting,anorexia and *** denied smoking tobacco,drinking alcohol,usage of illicit drugs,hormonal contraceptives,or energy *** was no significant past medical or family *** laboratory workup revealed acute liver *** workup for possible etiologies of acute liver failure was *** was using a weight loss herbal supplement“Garcinia cambogia”for 4 *** case demonstrates the association of acute liver failure with Garcinia *** Medical reconciliation of Hs should be performed in patients with suspected acute liver failure and early discontinuation of Hs can prevent further progression of drug induced hepatoxicity.

In this work,we have explored wormhole(WH)solutions in F(R,L_(m))gravity by assuming the Morris-Thorne WH metric and F(R,Lm)=R/2+(1+γR)L_(m),whereγis the free model *** determined the WH solutions by utilizing two newly developed shape functions(sF)that satisfy all basic conditions for a WH’s physical *** also observe that the null energy condition(NEC)behaves ***,for both models,we use the volume integral quantifier(VIQ)and Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff(TOV)equation to determine how much exotic matter is needed near the WH throat and the stability of the *** extensive detailed discussions of the matter components have been done via graphical *** obtained WH geometries meet the physically acceptable conditions for a stable wormhole.

Consequences of Rényi entropy on the thermal geometries and Hawking evaporation of topological dyonic dilaton black hole

The thermodynamics of black holes(BHs)has had a profound impact on theoretical physics,providing insight into the nature of gravity,the quantum structure of spacetime and the fundamental laws governing the *** this study,we investigate thermal geometries and Hawking evaporation of the recently proposed topological dyonic dilaton BH in anti-de sitter(Ad s)*** consider Rényi entropy and obtain the relations for pressure,heat capacity and Gibbs free energy and observe that the Rényi parameter and dilaton field play a vital role in the phase transition and stability of the ***,we use Weinhold,Ruppeiner and Hendi Panahiyah Eslam Momennia models to evaluate the scalar curvature of the BH and find out that the divergence points of the scalar curvature coincides with the zero of specific ***,using stefan–Boltzmann law,we determine that the BH without a dilaton field evaporates far more quickly compared to the dilaton BH in Ad s space.

Pancreatic cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related morbidity and mortality with an overall five-year survival of less than 9%in the United *** presentation,the majority of patients have painless jaundice,pruritis,and malaise,a triad that develops secondary to obstruction,which often occurs late in the course of the disease *** technical advancements in radiological imaging and endoscopic interventions have played a crucial role in the diagnosis,staging,and management of patients with pancreatic *** retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)-guided diagnosis(with brush cytology,serial pancreatic juice aspiration cytologic examination technique,or biliary biopsy)and therapeutic interventions such as pancreatobiliary decompression,intraductal and relief of gastric outlet obstruction play a pivotal role in the management of advanced pancreatic cancer and are increasingly used due to improved morbidity and complication rates compared to surgical *** this review,we highlight various ERCP-guided diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for the management of pancreatic cancer.

Direct recycling is a novel approach to overcoming the drawbacks of conventional lithium-ion battery(LIB)recycling processes and has gained considerable attention from the academic and industrial sectors in recent *** primary objective of directly recycling LIBs is to efficiently recover and restore the active electrode materials and other components in the solid phase while retaining electrochemical *** technology's advantages over traditional pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy are costeffectiveness,energy efficiency,and sustainability,and it preserves the material structure and morphology and can shorten the overall recycling *** review extensively discusses the advancements in the direct recycling of LIBs,including battery sorting,pretreatment processes,separation of cathode and anode materials,and regeneration and quality enhancement of electrode *** encompasses various approaches to successfully regenerate high-value electrode materials and streamlining the recovery process without compromising their electrochemical ***,we highlight key challenges in direct recycling when scaled from lab to industries in four perspectives:(1)battery design,(2)disassembling,(3)electrode delamination,and(4)commercialization and *** on these challenges and changing market trends,a few strategies are discussed to aid direct recycling efforts,such as binders,electrolyte selection,and alternative battery designs;and recent transitions and technological advancements in the battery industry are presented.

The influences of trait diversity(i.e.,the niche complementarity effect)and functional composition(i.e.,the mass ratio effect)on aboveground biomass(AGB)is a highly debated topic in forest ***,further studies are needed to explore these mechanisms in unstudied forest ecosystems to enhance our understanding,and to provide guidelines for specific forest ***,we hypothesized that functional composition would drive AGB better than trait diversity and stem size inequality in the(sub-)tropical forests of *** data from 101 forest plots,we tested 25 structural equation models(sEMs)to link elevation,stem DBH inequality,trait diversity(i.e.,trait richness,evenness,dispersion and divergence),functional composition[i.e.,community-weighted of maximum height mean(CWM of Hmax),specific leaf area(CWM of sLA),leaf dry matter content(CWM of LDMC),and wood density(CWM of WD)]and *** best-fitted sEMs indicated that CWM of Hmax promoted AGB while overruling the impacts of trait diversity indices on ***,low trait diversity indices were linked with higher AGB while overruling the effects of CWM of sLA,LDMC and WD on *** addition,AGB decreased with increasing elevation,whereas stem size inequality did not influence *** results suggest that divergent species’functional strategies could shape AGB along an altitudinal gradient in tropical *** argue that forest management practices should include plant functional traits in the management plan for the co-benefits of biodiversity conservation and carbon sequestration that underpins human wellbeing.

Temperature-dependent aggregation of bio-surfactants in aqueous solutions of galactose and lactose:Volumetric and viscometric approach

Modulation in the aggregation behavior of bio-surfactants(bile salts), sodium cholate(NaC) and sodium deoxycholate(NaDC) in aqueous solutions of carbohydrates(galactose and lactose) have been investigated by measuring the density(ρ), speed of sound(u) and viscosity(η) of the mixtures at different temperatures293.15, 298.15, 303.15, 308.15 and 313.15 K. The density and speed of sound data have been used to calculate various volumetric and compressibility parameters such as apparent molar volume(V_φ), isentropic compressibility(κ_s), apparent molar adiabatic compression(κ_(s, φ)) to get a better insight into the micellization mechanism of bile salts. Further, the viscosity data have been studied in the light of relative viscosity(η_r) and viscous relaxation time(τ). some derived parameters such as free volume(V_f), internal pressure(πi) and molar cohesive energy(MCE) of Na C and Na DC in aqueous solution of saccharides have also been calculated from viscosity data in conjunction with density and speed of sound values. All the calculated and derived parameters provide qualitative information regarding the nature of interactions i.e. solute–solute, solute–solvent and solvent–solvent in the solution.

Influence of site conditions on seismic design parameters for foundations as determined via nonlinear site response analysis

site conditions,including geotechnical properties and the geological setting,influence the near-surface response of strata subjected to seismic *** geotechnical parameters required for the design of foundations include mass density(ρ),damping ratio(β_(s)),shear wave velocity(V_(s)),and soil shear modulus(G_(s)).The values of the last three parameters are sensitive to the level of nonlinear strain induced in the strata due to seismic ground *** this study,the effect of variations in soil properties,such as plasticity index(PI),effective stress(σ′),over consolidation ratio(OCR),impedance contrast ratio(ICR)between the bedrock and the overlying strata,and depth of soil strata over bedrock(H),on seismic design parameters(β_(s),V_(s),and G_(s))was investigated for National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program(NEHRP)site classes C and D,through 1D nonlinear seismic site response *** Morris one-at-a-time(OAT)sensitivity analysis indicated thatβ_(s),V_(s),and G_(s)were significantly influenced by variations in PI,while ICR affectedβ_(s)more than it affected V_(s)and G_(s).However,the influence of H on these parameters was less *** was also found that variations in soil properties influenced seismic design parameters in soil type D more significantly than in soil type *** relationships forβ_(s),V_(s),and G_(s)were derived based on the 1D seismic site response analysis and sensitivity analysis ***β_(s),V_(s),and G_(s)values obtained from the analysis were compared with the corresponding values in NEHRP to determine the similarities and differences between the two sets of *** need to incorporate PI and ICR in the metrics for determiningβ_(s),V_(s),and G_(s)for the seismic design of foundations was highlighted.
